Training Reimbursement Guidelines

Disbursement Guidelines

APSC Certified:

Surcharge funds should be used to supplement training for APSC certified officers, village public safety officers, and correctional officers. However, outside agencies are welcome to participate in APSC training when space is available.

Partial Reimbursement:

Funding permitting, APSC will assists agencies by paying for a portion of the agencies training expenses. APSC is not intended to be an agencies sole source for training funding. Ideally, each training request should be a partnership between the agency making the request and APSC, with both parties contributing financially to achieve a desired training objective.

Department Head Approval:

An agency or department head must approve requests before they are formally submitted to APSC.

Appropriations Under $5,000:

Appropriations under $5,000 may be made at the Training Director's level.

Appropriations Under $10,000:

Appropriations under $10,000 may be made at the Executive Director's level.

Appropriations Between $10,000 - 15,000:

Appropriations under $15,000 may be made at the Director's level after consulting with and receiving the APSC Chairman's approval.

Appropriations Over $15,000:

The APSC board should review and approve appropriations over $15,000. In matters where time does not permit a timely review by the board at a regular quarterly meeting, the APSC chairman and a committee assigned by the chairman may approve the expenditure.
