Alaska Wildlife Troopers attend the same academy as Alaska State Troopers in Sitka. Once they graduate from the academy they enter a hands-on Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP) in the community in which they will be stationed. AWT Troopers go through an additional four-week phase of wildlife and fisheries specific training so they are fully prepared for the job and mission. During FTEP, AWT Troopers may get the chance to visit other areas of the state where they may participate in fisheries or game patrols.
