October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM)

A time to connect advocates across the nation who are working to end all forms of interpersonal violence. DVAM evolved from the “Day of Unity” held in October 1981! In recognition of this important month, Governor Bill Walker has issues an Alaska Proclamation proclaiming October 2017 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Alaska. The Governor urges all Alaskans to stand together against domestic violence. A copy of the Proclamation is available at:

CDVSA Awards

CDVSA has awarded a total of 12 new Prevention grants: 7 Community Readiness and Capacity Building and 5 Community Based Primary Prevention Programs. Congratulations to the communities (and service areas) of Dillingham, Ketchikan, Anchorage, Bethel, Kenai, Valdez, Petersburg, Juneau, Sitka, Homer, Fairbanks and Cordova!.
