A Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Klawock Case Number: 09-91977 Type: NVOL Text: On 10/10/2009 at 1800 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on Celeste M Zarate, 18 of Ketchikan for a moving violation. Subsequently, Zarate was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with No Valid Operators License. Zarate was released on scene and her vehicle impounded. Adkison was currently on conditions of release from two pending court cases and was not supposed to be consuming alcohol. Adkison was contacted during a welfare check and was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a firearm. Adkison was transported and remanded to the Craig Community jail on $1000.00 bail. The driver was identified as James M. Wellman, age 54 of Palmer. Wellman was traveling northbound on the Old Glenn Highway near the Eklutna Power Plant in a 2002 green Dodge truck when he lost control and collided with a tree. Wellman was the only occupant and reported wearing his seat belt. Wellman was experiencing some pain to his left shoulder and was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. MTR responded to the scene and recovered the vehicle. Lee, age 19 of Wasilla as the driver of a vehicle stopped at approximately 4 mile Knik Goosebay Road for a moving violation. Investigation revealed Lee had consumed alcohol while under the age of 21 years old and operated a motor vehicle after consuming the alcohol. Lee was issued citations for MOCA and MCA. The vehicle was released to the registered owner. Investigation revealed Amanda Mayo, age 29 of Wasilla, assaulted a family member. Investagation also revealed that Mitchel Mayo, age 30 of Wasilla, was operating a motor vehicle while Impaired and Under the Influence of Alcohol. Amanda Mayo and Mitchel Mayo were arrested, transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and remanded into their custody. Amanda Mayo was held pending her arraignment. Mitchel was held on $1,000.00 bail. Investigation revealed that Dewan was operating a 1998 Dodge pickup while under the influence of alcohol. Dewan was arrested for DUI and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was held on $2,500 bail and CATP. Investigation revealed Rutherford had two outstanding warrants for arrest for failure to appear on the original charges of Minor Consuming Alcohol. Rutherford was arrested, transported, and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial and held on $500.00 bail. Text: On 10/18/2009, at approximately 0851 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a motor vehicle collision at mile 30.5 of the Glenn Hwy near Palmer. Investigation revealed that Lacey Szybnski, age 24, of Wasilla, was traveling northbound on the Glenn Hwy in a 1993 Ford Explorer, when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail in the northbound lane. There were no reported injuries, and Szybnski reported to be wearing her seatbelt at the time. Damage to the vehicle is estimated under $2,000, and there was no damage to the guardrail. Further investigation revealed that Szybnski had been driving on a suspended license and had two outstanding warrants for her arrest for failure to appear on the original charge of DWLS. Szybnski was arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held on $1,200 bail. D Detachment ------------------------------------------------- Location: Delta Junction Case number: 09-94127 Type: DUI Text: On 10/17/09 at approximately 2320 hours, troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1998 Mercury for traveling 99 MPH in a posted 65 MPH zone. The stop was made on the Alaska Highway at mile 1407. The driver was identified as Erica C. Frenzl, age 25, of Delta Junction. Erica was arrested for DUI after failing several field sobriety tests. She was additionally issued a citation for speeding and a citation for having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. Erica was transported to the Delta Courthouse where she was held until her arraignment. When AST arrived on scene, one of the male parties involved in the fight went into his residence and closed the door. The male was identified as Darius Wallace, age 31 of Seward. Wallace would not comply with directions given to him by AST and was forcibly restrained. Investigation revealed Wallace and M.B., age 19 of Seward, were in a verbal argument. Another male, Michael Lindberg, age 42 of Seward, became involved in the argument which escalated into a physical fight between Wallace and Lindberg. After the fight was over Wallace spit on M.B. and assaulted her. Wallace was placed under arrest, transported to the Seward City Jail and remanded without bail. An investigation showed that Lloyd Fulton, 21 of Anchorage, had assaulted another inmate with a dangerous weapon. The victim received non-life threatening injuries. Charges are being forwarded to the Kenai District Attorney's Office on Fulton. The vehicle was towed from the area by an Anchorage area tow company. The tow company also advised that Ike Polk, age 53 of Anchorage, had called the company for a tow after it became inoperable. Polk was located a short time later near the intersection of the Old Seward Hwy. and Huffman Rd. Following an AST investigation Polk was arrested for DUI and charged with DWLR. He was transported to the Anchorage Jail for breath testing where he was charged with Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test. Polk was also cited for Failure to Submit to a Preliminary Breath Test. AK Bureau of Highway Patrol ------------------------------------------------- Location: Wasilla Case number: 09-94056 Type: Motor Vehicle Collision-Injury Text: On 10/17/09 at approximately 1850 hours the AST Bureau of Highway Patrol, South Central Team responded to a reported motor vehicle collision with injuries at the Old Glenn Hwy. and Republican Rd, in Palmer. Investigation determined a 2003 Ford Ranger driven by Haley J. Lovaas-Brewster, age 16, of Palmer was traveling northbound on the Old Glenn Hwy when she lost control of her vehicle and left the roadway. The vehicle rolled twice and came to a rest on a paved bike path. Lovass-Brewster and her 18 year old passenger were transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center by private party. Icy road conditions were a factor in the collision. Lovass-Brewster was issued a citation for violation of provisional license and failure to show proof of insurance. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $6000. Investigation revealed the driver possessed marijuana along with a marijuana pipe in his vehicle. The driver was identified as Dylan Ricker 24, YOA of Eagle River, AK. Ricker was issued a misdemeanor citation for MICS VI and released at the scene. Investigation revealed that Mark Chapson (53 YOA of Big Lake) was riding a 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Big Lake Road when he was unable to make the turn in the roadway. The motorcycle left the roadway and came to a rest in the parking lot of the Big Lake Post Office. Chapson suffered non life threatening injuries and was transported by EMS to the Mat Su Regional Medical Center. The motorcycle sustained major damages in the crash and was towed from the scene. Alcohol is a factor in the collision. The investigation is continuing.
