A Detachment -------------------------------------------- Location: Angoon Case number: 09-95661 Type: MICS 6th Degree/VCOR Text: On 10/23/09, at 1658 hours, Robert Paul Jr., age 30 of Angoon, was charged with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Sixth Degree and Violating Conditions of Release. Paul was contacted by the Angoon VPSO after he was observed smoking marijuana from a metal pipe in public. Paul is also currently on conditions of release on two other criminal charges in Angoon. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Stephen Hicks, age 28, of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Hicks had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Misuse of License Plates. Hicks was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was held on $100.00 cash/corporate bail. Investigation revealed that Jeffrey L. Oster, age 45 of Wasilla, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license and with no insurance. Further investigation revealed Osborn had an extraditable warrant out of Colorado for Dangerous Drugs. Hoover, age 54 of Wasilla, for DUI and Resisting Arrest after they responded to the intersection of Cotten Drive and Fairview Loop for a vehicle in the ditch. Investigation revealed Hoover was driving under the influenced. While being placed under arrest, Hoover resisted Troopers attempts to place him into handcuffs. Author: RWB1 Received Sunday, October 25, 2009 6:25 PM and posted Sunday, October 25, 2009 6:30 PM C Detachment Location: Ugashik Case Number: 09-95824 Type: Death Investigation Text: On 10-23-09 at 2015 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in King Salmon were notified of a death in the village of Ugashik. On 10-24-09 Troopers responded to the village to investigate. Investigation revealed that Mark Wood, age 50 of Ugashik had been found deceased approximately one mile outside of the village lying next to the roadway. Further investigation showed that Wood had been drinking alcohol at a friend's house on the evening of 10-22-09. Wood left the residence on his four-wheeler to go home wearing only a T-shirt and blue jeans. That night the weather in Ugashik was rainy and cold. The next day when Wood did not show up to work,a search was conducted. Wood was later found lying next to his four-wheeler, deceased, approximately one mile out of the village near the airport. Evidence indicates Wood died from exposure, however Woods body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Anchorage for an autopsy. The next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
