Mat-Su Narcotics Unit Presented Denali Award

 

(Anchorage, AK) – On Oct. 17, 2017, a four member unit within the Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit was presented with the Exceptional Performance Team Award from Alaska Governor Bill Walker at the State of Alaska Crime Detection Laboratory in Anchorage. Sergeant Patrick Nelson, Investigator Shayne Calt, Investigator Andrew Ballesteros, and Criminal Justice Technician Mary Lou Patience make up the Mat-Su Narcotics Unit gathering intelligence in drug related crimes, detecting criminal activity, deterring future criminal activity through education and imposition of consequences via the appropriate criminal justice remedy throughout southcentral Alaska.
 

Through dedication, professionalism and ingenuity, the Mat-Su Narcotics Unit has brought to bear their talents, energy and attributes as a collaborative and cooperative force for the good of the Department of Public Safety and the State’s residents. Their efforts have resulted in some of the largest drug seizures and highest profile offender arrests in some of the most difficult and complex cases in Alaska’s history. As a result of their efforts, they have made their community safer and positively impacted a number of individuals.


The Mat-Su Narcotics Team has continually fostered partnerships with local and Federal agencies creating a force multiplying effect in their relentless pursuit of justice with the hope of eradicating illicit drug trafficking and traffickers that prey on our citizens.
