AK18002462Location: KlawockType: MIW V
On 1/11/2018, Prince of Wales Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the Craig/Klawock Highway for a moving violation. The driver, 19 year old Taan Morrison of Hydaburg was discovered to have a concealable firearm on his person. Morrison did not disclose to AST that he was in possession of the firearm during the initial contact. It was further learned that Morrison was advised by AWT on 1/7/2018 that he must disclose the possession of the firearm during contact with law enforcement. The firearm was seized and Morrison was issued a criminal citation and released on scene.

AK18002483Location: WasillaType: Burglary 1st, Theft 2nd
Update: On 01/11/2018 at approximately 1439 hours, the vehicle was located on the corner of Meadow Lakes Loop and Milton Lane from a Facebook tip. The investigation is still on going.
On 01/11/2018 at approximately 1303 hours, AST responded to the area of Carousel Way for a report of a Burglary. Investigating revealed that the residence doors were left unlocked and several electronic items, power tools, and a grey 2002 Dodge Dakota were missing. The dollar amount of all the items was approximately $9000.The investigation is ongoing at this time. The troopers are requesting that anyone with information on this to contact the Troopers at 907-352-5401

AK18002515Location: WasillaType: Theft, Criminal Trespass
On January 11, 2018 at about 1436 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a possible theft in progress on Fairview Loop near Snowshoe Elementary School. Investigation revealed someone had broken into a connex and stole multiple items over a period of time. No suspects were located on scene, but a small green sedan was observed on scene by a third party prior to AST arrival. Anyone with information reference this incident is asked to contact the Alaska State Troopers at 352-5401.

AK18002388Location: WasillaType: Vehicle Theft 1st Degree
On 01/11/2018 at approximately 0822 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stolen Polaris side-by-side, black and yellow in color, in the area of W. Coghlan in Wasilla. The ATV was taken sometime in the last 24 hours and is valued at approximately $11,500.00.

AK18002343Location: KoliganekType: SAR/Death Investigation
On 1/10/18 at about 1953 hours, AST in Dillingham received a report of an overdue hunter in the village of Koliganek. Investigation revealed, 24 year old Jairus Nelson, departed the village on foot to go hunting earlier in the day and has not returned. A hasty team was sent to look for Jairus. Jairus was located at approximately 2129 hours about two miles from village deceased. The investigation continues. No foul play is suspected. The SME requested Jairus’ body be transported to Anchorage for autopsy. Next of Kin have been notified.

AK18002266Location: FairbanksType: Warrant Arrest
On January 10, 2018 at approximately 4:27 pm, the Alaska State Troopers contacted Sean Gallaher, age 28 of Fairbanks, at his residence in Fairbanks. Gallaher was subsequently arrested on four outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants that were issued for Failure to Appear in three court cases with the original charges of False Information, Driving While License Suspended, and DVPO Violation. Gallaher was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center and held on a $2500 bail.

AK18002406Location: FairbanksType: Warrant Arrest
On January 11, 2018 at approximately 9:07 am, the Alaska State Troopers contacted April Jordan, age 51 of Tanana, at the Alaska State Trooper post in Fairbanks. Jordan was subsequently arrested for an outstanding felony arrest warrant that was issued for Assault in the Third Degree. Jordan was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center and held without bail.

AK18002161Location: FairbanksType: Suicide
On 1/10/18, at approximately 1031 hours, The Alaska State Troopers received a report that there was a deceased person at the Farmers Market on College Road. Initial investigation indicated that 62 year old Paul Koehler of Fairbanks had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. EMS responded and pronounced him dead on the scene. The body was sent to the Alaska State Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy. Next of kin has been notified and there are no signs of foul play.

On 1/10/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau post, issued Danny Boswell, age 53, of Wasilla, AK a citation for sport fishing without a valid sport fish license. Boswell was given a $210 fine out of the Juneau District Court.

On 2-15-18, the last of four defendants pled guilty in the Juneau district court to multiple hunting violations that occurred near the Greens Creek mine on Northern Admiralty Island.
Nabor Vera Torres, age 56 of Mexico, pled guilty in the Juneau district court to one count each of taking big game as a non-resident alien without a guide and unlawful possession and transportation of illegally taken game. Both charges were misdemeanor crimes. Torres also paid fines for hunting without a valid Alaska hunting license, failing to have harvest tickets and shooting from a road. In total, Torres was ordered to pay $3600 with $500 suspended. One count of Misconduct with a Weapon 4th was dismissed.
Alejandro Perez, age 33 of Juneau had previously pled guilty to one misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of illegally taken game. He also paid fines for hunting without a valid Alaska hunting license, failing to have harvest tickets and shooting from the road. In total, Perez was ordered to pay $3200 with $500 suspended and ordered to pay $400 in restitution to the state of Alaska for the value of the illegally taken deer. One count of Misconduct with a Weapon 4th was dismissed.
Marco Antonio Solis Mojarro, age 32 of Juneau had previously pled guilty to one count of unlawful possession and transportation of illegally taken game. He was fined $500 and ordered to forfeit the rifle used in the violation.
Efrain Solis Mojarro, age 37 of Juneau had previously pled guilty to one count of unlawful possession and transportation of illegally taken game. He was fined $500 and ordered to forfeit the rifle used in the violation.
On 1/9/18, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau post, issued court summonses to Alejandro Perez, age 33, of Juneau, Marco Mojarro, age 32, of Juneau, and Efrain Mojarro, age 37, of Juneau for multiple wildlife violations. A Wildlife investigation showed the hunting party were involved in the taking a Sitka Blacktail Deer on the Greens Creek Mine road system on Admiralty Island by shooting from the roadway. Further investigation showed two hunters did not have the proper hunting licenses, tags, and metal locking tags. Arraignment has been set for February 8th, 2018, at 1100 hours in the Juneau District Court.
