    On 1/4/2019, Prince of Wales State Troopers arrested 44 year old Felicia Smith of Hydaburg. Smith had an outstanding warrant for violating conditions of release.  Smith was remanded to the Craig Jail with bail set at $2000.

  • AK19000615

    Location: Ketchikan
    Type: Warrant Arrest, Failure to Stop at Direction of Peace Officer 1, Resisting Arrest, MICS 4

    On 01/03/2019 at about 0038 hours, the Alaska State Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a green 1998 GMC Jimmy near Mile 2 of the South Tongass Highway.  The vehicle was stopped for having no license plates displayed on the vehicle and the driver had an outstanding arrest warrant.  Investigation revealed that the driver Rhiana Sanford, age 25 of Ketchikan pulled over and then fled the scene as AST attempted to make contact.  Sanford was observed traveling at a high rate of Speed and at one point spinning circles around a light pole.  Sanford attempted to flee in the Martin Bugge neighborhood before reaching a dead end on Lode Lane. Sanford was contacted and arrested as she attempted to flee out the passenger side door.  Sanford was remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail.  Futher investigation revealed subsequent to a search warrant on the vehicle that Sanford was in possession of non-prescribed medication and drug related paraphernalia.  Charges are being forwarded to the District Attorneys Office.  AST would like to thank Ketchikan Police Department for their assistance and fast response.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 01/04/2019 at approximately 1806 hours, Alaska State Troopers and Palmer CSU responded to a report of shots fired at a residence on Williwaw Way in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Daralene Harris-Fleagle, age 59 of Wasilla, was intoxicated and possessed a firearm both on her person and later in a vehicle. Further, she shot the firearm inside the occupied residence with reckless disregard of physical injury and property damage. Harris-Fleagle was arrested and remanded to the custody of the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility to be released on her own recognizance once sober.

    On 1/4/19, the Palmer Criminal Suppression Unit arrested Adam K.N. Drew, age 24 of Willow.  Drew was currently serving 5 days for a parole violation after CSU assisted Palmer Probations with his arrest for the parole violation on 1/3/19.  Drew was charged with Robbery 1, Assault 1, Burglary 1 and Assault 4.  Drew is currently on probations for Burglary 1 from a previous charge of Robbery 1 in 2015.  Drew was held at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility pending his arraignment.    

    On 12/31/2018, at approximately 2233 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence in vicinity of Birdsell Drive in Wasilla for a report of a burglary in progress.  Investigation revealed that the victims confronted the suspect while he was in their house which led to a physical fight.  Both residents at the house were assaulted by the suspect who fled the residence after jumping out of a second floor window.  Items were found to be missing and damage was caused to the residence.  Anyone having information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Alaska State Troopers or MATSU Crimestoppers at 745-3333.

    On 1/3/18 at approximately 2100 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 Subaru sedan on Hawk Lane in Houston. Investigation revealed the driver, Gordon Kamholz age 28 of Wasilla, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on the original charge of DUI. Kamholz was arrested for his warrant and transported to MSPT for remand.

    On 01/04/2019 at approximately 0647 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of Theft on N Monte Vista Dr in Palmer. Investigation revealed that an unknown individual gain entry into the property. The individual took approximately $50.00 worth of property and caused $100.00 worth of damage to the property. The investigation is ongoing at this time. Anyone with information on this incident are encouraged to contact Troopers at 352-5401.

    On 12/31/2018, at 1030 hours, AST was notified of an unexpected home death in Holy Cross. Lifesaving methods were ineffective. The victim was identified as James Sims, age 64, from Holy Cross. The NOK was identified and he was notified. There were no signs of foul play observed.  The SME was notified and the body was released to the family.

AK Wildlife Troopers

    Type: Guide - Aid in Commission of Violation, Guide - Hunt On Private Land.

    On 1/3/19 Master Guide, Brian Simpson, age 57, of Fairbanks, AK.  was sentenced in Nome District Court to a lifetime revocation of his guide license, 60 days in Jail with 60 days suspended, $65,000 in fines with $30,000 suspended, $2,600 in restitution, and 1 yr. of probation. The sentence was in accordance with a plea agreement with the Office of Special Prosecutions. Simpson was charged with two criminal counts of aiding in the commission of a violation by using employees on snowmobiles to herd grizzly bears toward clients in GMU22, and three criminal counts of guiding on federal land in The Bering Land Bridge National Preserve without prior authorization.
