    Dispatch Text:

    On 1/7/2019 at approximately 1557 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of theft at a residence on W. Little John Dr. in Houston. Investigation revealed Kaleb Johnson, age 26 of Houston, had an outstanding AST warrant for Violating Conditions of Probation on the original charge of Assault 4th. Johnson was arrested at the scene and was remanded to MSPT with bail set at $150 cash.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 1/7/2019, at about 1745 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Glennallen contacted 44 year old California resident Erik Larson after he was reported to be intoxicated and driving on the Richardson Highway near mile 95.  Larson was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Driving While License Revoked.  He was transported to the Glennallen AST Post where he is being held pending arraignments.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 1/7/2019, approximately 2030 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to E Palmer Wasilla Highway at E Shenandoah Drive in Wasilla for a two-vehicle collision with injuries.  Investigation revealed 64 year old Kendra D. Pepperd of Wasilla was operating her black 2004 VW sedan when she failed to yield when entering the Palmer Wasilla Highway from Shenandoah Drive.  Her vehicle was struck by a gray 2011 Lexus SUV operated by 35 year old Elizabeth H. Campbell of Palmer.  Both parties reporting wearing safety belts and both were transported to a local hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries.  Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene.

    On 1/7/2019, approximately 1840 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a two vehicle, damage only, collision on the Palmer Wasilla Highway near N Betts Street, Wasilla.  Investigation revealed 16 year old Halen D. Marcinek of Wasilla was operating his green 2005 Toyota Camry westbound on the Palmer Wasilla Highway when he fell asleep causing his vehicle to cross into oncoming traffic.  The Toyota collided with a blue VW SUV traveling in the opposite direction resulting in minor damage to both vehicles.  No injuries were reported and both parties were wearing safety belts.

    On 1/6/2019 at approximately 2202 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an overdue snow machiner somewhere between the villages of Koliganik and New Stuyahok.

    Investigation revealed Casey Konukpeok, age 18 and Jason Kohler, age 18 both of New Stuyahok had left Koliganik at approximately 1300 hours and had not completed the estimated 2 hour journey back to New Stuyahok.  

    Hasty teams were dispatch from both Koliganik and New Stuyahok.  At approximately 2300 hours, both Konukpeok and Kohler were located safe and in good spirits and by 2350 all personnel had safely returned home.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 1/5/19 at 1530 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received report of a death that occurred in Hooper Bay.  It was reported that a 36 year old female had committed suicide. Hooper Police Department is assisting Bethel AST by securing the scene until AST is able to respond. Weather has so far hampered a response. Efforts are ongoing to reach the community.

    On 01/04/19, AST dispatch received a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) report near 7 mile of Chena Hot Springs Road. AST responded to the area and contacted Shawn Lyons, age 39, of Fairbanks. Shawn was arrested for DUI and remanded to FCC on the charges of DUI and Refusal.

    On 1/1/19 at approximately 0010 hours, Soldotna AST responded to a residence in Soldotna for a report of a male firing a gun.  Subsequent investigation resulted in Travis Ceartin, age 27 of Soldotna, being charged with misconduct involving weapon in the fourth degree.

    On 1/3/19 at approximately 0043 hours, Soldotna AST stopped a truck for an equipment violation near Mile 90 of the Sterling Highway.  Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Joseph Damon, age 39 of Kasilof, for an outstanding arrest warrant, and additional charges of no liability insurance and misuse of plates.

    On 1/2/19 at approximately 0355 hours, Soldotna AST responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Kenai.  Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Travis Lindley, age 18 of Kenai, for assault IV, criminal mischief III, and criminal trespass I, all domestic violence charges.  Lindley was remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility and held without bail pending arraignment.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 1/3/2019 at approximately 0601 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a REDDI report of a driver stopped near mile 83 of the Sterling Highway in a lane of travel, apparently unconscious. Troopers responded to the area and located Jesse Pedginski, 26, of Sterling, at the intersection of Moose River and Sterling Highway. Investigation revealed Pedginski was driving under the influence of controlled substances. Pedginski subsequently resisted arrest. He was remanded at Wildwood Pretrial on charges of Driving Under the Influence, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct and Violation of Conditions of Release.

    On January 6, 2019 at approximately 2253 hours, the Alaska State Troopers (AST) received a report of a disturbance at a residence in the Anchor Point area. Investigation revealed Promise Chipps, age 21, of Ninilchik assaulted her mother and broke items in the residence. Promise was arrested and remanded to the Homer Jail for one count of Assault in the 4th Degree DV and once count of Criminal Mischief in the 5th Degree DV.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 1-6-19 at 1755 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the Essential One gas station in Nikiski for a report of a stolen wallet left at one of the pumps. Subsequent investigation led to contact with Richard Lee Miller, age 58 of Nikiski. The wallet and all of it's contents were recovered and Miller was issued a mandatory (misdemeanor) court citation for Theft 3rd degree (less than $750) and released.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 01/06/2019 at 1215 hours, Troopers responded to a report of a theft at a residence on the Sterling Highway in Anchor Point.  An investigation showed Kristi Swanson, 46 of Anchor Point, had stolen items from her landlord over the last several days.  Swanson was found to be on felony probation for a previous vehicle theft conviction and was in violation of her probation conditions.  Swanson was arrested and remanded into the Homer Jail pending arraignment.

    On 1/6/19 while on a caribou enforcement snowmachine patrol, Bethel AWT contacted Mark Reynolds, 31 of Bethel in the vicinity of Three Step Mountain.  Reynolds was subsequently issued a citation for hunting caribou without a valid hunting license, bail was set at $270.

    On 12-28-18 Sitka AWT conducted a traffic stop and subsequent investigation which revealed the driver of the vehicle, Chatham Hansen, age 18 of Sitka, was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. Hansen was arrested and booked into the Sitka Jail before being released. Hansen is due to appear in the Sitka District Court on 1/8/19.

    On 1/3/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post, cited Brandon R. Snyder, age 23, of Sitka for unlawful storage of commercial Dungeness crab gear.  The charge stems from pots located by Alaska Wildlife Troopers on 12/19/18 which were not in stored condition and in the water after seven day storage period ending on 12/7/18.  Arraignment is set in the District Court at Sitka 1/15/18.

    Update:

    On 1/3/19 Master Guide, Brian Simpson, age 57, of Fairbanks, AK.  was sentenced in Nome District Court to a lifetime revocation of his guide license, 60 days in Jail with 60 days suspended, $65,000 in fines with $30,000 suspended, $2,600 in restitution, and 1 yr. of probation. The sentence was in accordance with a plea agreement with the Office of Special Prosecutions. Simpson was charged with two criminal counts of aiding in the commission of a violation by using employees on snowmobiles to herd grizzly bears toward clients in GMU22, and three criminal counts of guiding on federal land in The Bering Land Bridge National Preserve without prior authorization.

    On 8/18/17 the State of Alaska Department of Law, Office of Special Prosecutions filed charges against Master Guide-Outfitter Brian L. Simpson, 56 of Fairbanks, (DBA. Wittrock Outfitters) on three counts of Guide - Hunt On Private, State, or Federal Land without Prior Authorization, and two counts of Aiding in the Commission of a Violation. Assistant Guide, Tyler Weyiouanna, 26 of Shishmaref, was charged with one count of Unlawful Methods - Using a Motorized Vehicle to Harass Game, and one count of Guide - Aid in Commission of Violation.  Employee, Matthew Iyatunguk, 28 of Nome, was charged with one count of Unlawful Methods - Using a Motorized Vehicle to Harass Game.  The charges stem from an investigation launched by Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Nome, following a Wildlife Safe Guard complaint of Illegal Bear Guiding activity in GMU22 in the Bering Land Bridge National Preserve during the spring of 2016.
