AK20001313Location: SewardType: Drugs
On January 7, 2020 at approximately 10:00am, Alaska State Troopers in Seward received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on private property without the owner's permission. AST and AST K9 Blitz responded and contacted Daniel Rankin, 40 years old of Clam Gulch, and Abigail Pruitt, 40 years old of Seward. Both were found to be in possession of controlled substances. Rankin has a previous Fourth Degree Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances (MICS 4) conviction and was arrested and charged with felony MICS 4. Pruitt had no recent MICS convictions and was charged with misdemeanor MICS 4.

AK20001586Location: KetchikanType: VCOR
On January 8, 2020, Alaska State Troopers (AST) received a report that 53-year-old Rodney Krauss of Ketchikan had violated his court ordered conditions of release. AST contacted Kraus on a traffic stop. Subsequent investigation revealed Kraus had direct contact with a family member in violation of his court ordered conditions of release . Kraus was taken into custody and transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center. Kraus was held without bail, pending arraignment for the misdemeanor offense of violating conditions of release.

AK20001526Location: WasillaType: Vehicle Theft 1
On 01/08/20 at 0700 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a vehicle theft from a residence off South Saindon Street in Wasilla. The vehicle was a 2006 blue Chevrolet Avalanche (SK8R). Investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen sometime between 01/07/20 and 01/08/20. AST reminds citizens to help deter and prevent crime by locking your doors. AK20001515Location: WasillaType: Death Investigation
On 01/08/2020 at 0330 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence off Schrock Road for the report of CPR in progress. Investigation revealed, Damian Monnin age 25, of Wasilla was pronounced deceased on scene. CPR attempts were unsuccessful and no signs of foul play suspected. Next of Kin was notified.

On 1/8/20 at approximately 1030 hours, 29 year old Raleigh Iyapana of Teller was arrested with out incident on an outstanding warrant for violating his Felony Probation requirements.

AK19093530Location: KodiakType: Attempted Murder, Assault 2, Assault 3, Robbery, and Burglary
Update: On 1/8/2019 at 2:48 pm, Benjamin Bodi, age 37 of Kodiak, and Summer Suydam, age 39 of Kodiak, were taken into custody in Anchorage by officers from Anchorage Police Department. Bodi attempted to flee on foot and was quickly apprehended by APD. Kodiak SDEU/HIDTA assisted with locating and the apprehension of the two suspects. Alaska State Troopers want to thank APD for the excellent police work in apprehending Bodi and Suyday. Investigation by AST continues.
On 12/31/2019 at 1551 hours, AST in Kodiak received a report that a man had been assaulted by two masked individuals at his home on Spruce Cape Road in Kodiak. Investigation revealed that the victim and another person arrived at the residence to find the door had been pried open. As he entered the residence he was confronted by two people wearing masks. The victim was struck with the butt end of a rifle by one of the masked individuals. A struggle ensued over the rifle and during the altercation one round was fired. The two suspects then fled on foot. AST received information that the suspects got on the ferry and left Kodiak the following day. Further investigation by AST determined the two suspects to be Benjamin Bodi, age 37 of Kodiak, and Summer Suydam, age 39 of Kodiak. After consulting with the Kodiak District Attorney, AST charged Bodi with Attempted Murder, Robbery, Assault 2 X 3, and Burglary. Suydam was charged with Robbery, Assault 3, Burglary, and VCOR. The Kodiak Court issued arrest warrants for both Bodi and Suydam. AST is asking the public for assistance with locating Benjamin Bodi and Summer Suydam. The two are believed to be in the Anchorage area. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Bodi and Suydam should contact Kodiak Troopers at 907-486-4121 or the Anchorage Police Department at 3-1-1.

AK20001500Location: FairbanksType: Sexual Assault 1st
On 1/7/2020 at approximately 2150 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on Birch Lane for a report of a possible Sexual Assault in progress. Upon AST arrival, Aaron Cornelius, age 29 of Fairbanks, was contacted. The investigation revealed Cornelius sexually assaulted a female adult within the residence. Cornelius was placed under arrest and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center for one count of Sexual Assault in the First Degree with no bail set.

AK20001513Location: FairbanksType: Cruelty to Animals - Beastiality / Warrant Arrest
On 1/8/2020 at approximately 0207 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded back to a residence on Birch Lane to conduct follow up investigation reference a sexual assault that occurred four hours prior. While on-scene, AST contacted Dewayne Koenig-Messer, age 45, of Fairbanks. The investigation revealed Koenig-Messer was engaged in sexual conduct with his service dog when AST located him. Koenig-Messer was placed under arrest for Cruelty to Animals and his outstanding arrest warrant for Vehicle Theft. Koenig-Messer was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center with no bail set.

On 01/08/2020 at approximately 1335 hours State Troopers conducted a Domestic Violence investigation near Ester Dome Road. State Troopers contacted Michael Mayo of Fairbanks, age 46. Investigation determined Mayo violated two of his conditions of release, including consuming alcohol. Mayo was arrest and remanded to FCC where is held without bail pending arraignment.

AK19091021Location: KodiakType: False Statement of Material Fact
On 12/28/19 Kodiak AWT contacted Carl VerPlanck (40 / Seattle, WA) after initiating a residency investigation. Investigation showed that VerPlanck had purchased a resident 2019 Alaska fishing license claiming several years of Alaska residency less than 12 months after obtaining a resident Washington fishing license. Verplanck was cited to the Kodiak Court for False Statement of Material Fact on License Application with bail set at $320.
