AK19001969Location: KetchikanType: VCOR
On January 9, 2019 at approximately 0945 hrs, Alaska State Troopers received a report that 52 year old, Rodney Kraus of Ketchikan had been consuming alcoholic beverages in violation of his Court ordered conditions of release. AST contacted Kraus at a residence on N. Tongass Hwy and subsequent investigation revealed Kraus had consumed alcoholic beverages. Kraus was taken into custody and transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center, where he was lodged pending his arraignment. Kraus is charged with Violating Conditions of Release, a misdemeanor offense.

AK19002072Location: PalmerType: Motor Vehicle Collision- Injury
On 01/09/2019 at approximately 1403 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to northbound Glenn Hwy at the Knik River in Palmer for a report of a four vehicle collision. Investigation revealed after a vehicle spun out and struck the bridge barrier, three other vehicle collided with one another. AST and Anchorage Police Department closed the northbound lanes for approximately one hour as EMS tended to injured parties. Alcohol is not a factor in this incident and investigation continues into the cause of the collision.

AK19001237Location: EmmonakType: Assault 4th Degree, DV
On 1/5/19 at about 1606 hours, Emmonak AST received a report of a disturbance in Nunam Iqua. An investigation revealed that Fredrick Abraham (age 20) of Nunam Iqua had assaulted his girlfriend causing minor injury to her face. An arrest warrant was obtained for Abraham. Alcohol is not reported to be a factor in this incident.

On 1/4/19 at about 1203 hours, Emmonak AST received a report of a possible sexual assault in Alakanuk. An investigation is ongoing at this time.

AK19001914Location: North PoleType: Assault II, Assault III, Kidnapping, Burglary I, Criminal Mischief III, Criminal Trespass I, VCOR
Update: At approximately 1430 hours, McKinney was arrested without incident at a gas station on Cushman by AST, with the assistance of Fairbanks Police Department and Alaska Wildlife Troopers. He was remanded to FCC without incident.
On January 8, at 2023 hours, The Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence near Badger Gas in North Pole for a reported assault in progress.
Investigation revealed Daniel James McKinney, 35 YOA of Fairbanks entered a residence by force and reportedly assaulted an adult male with a firearm. While on the property McKinney also reportedly caused damage in excess of $2000.00 to the property and a vehicle at that location. McKinney also reportedly forced an adult female to leave the residence and enter a vehicle with threat of injury to the male victim if she did not leave with him. The female was later able to escape without injury. The male's injuries were not life threatening.
The Alaska State Troopers have requested an arrest warrant for Daniel James McKinney. Please contact the Alaska State Troopers at 907-451-5100 with information concerning McKinney’s whereabouts. Do not attempt to contact McKinney as he is considered dangerous.
*Due to this incident being DV related, the names of the victims have been removed.
On January 9th at 1430 hours, Daniel McKinney was arrested at Fairbanks AST and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center without incident

AK19001922Location: Nikiski, AKType: Burglary / Theft / False Information / VCOR / Warrant arrest
On 1/8/2019 at approximately 2221 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of suspicious persons at a vacant residence in the Halbouty Rd area. Four persons were contacted. They were: Bradly Martin Luke, age 25 of Kenai; Dominic Sunrise Ronellenfitch, age 23 of Kenai; Alicia Marie Ridge, age 28 of Nikiski; Kenneth Paxton Oder, age 49 of Nikiski. Investigation revealed that the residence had been unlawfully entered and a hot water heater had been stolen. Luke, Ronellenfitch, Ridge and Oder were all arrested for Burglary 1st and Theft 3rd. Luke was additionally charged with Making a False Report and Violation of Conditions of Release. Luke also had several outstanding warrants stemming from pending Burglary and felony Theft offenses. All were remanded at Wildwood Pretrial Facility where they were held with no bail pending arraignment.

On 01/09/2019 at approximately 2300 hours Anchor Point AST contacted Robert Weeks (33 yoa of Ninilchik) near mile 170 of the Sterling Highway and arrested him on two outstanding warrants ,3HO-18-382CR (Burglary in the second degree, Criminal mischief in the fifth degree, Theft in the fourth degree) and 3HO-18-405CR (Criminal Trespass in the second degree). Weeks was remanded to Homer Jail without incident.

On 1-9-19, Fredrick Grant Jr. age 37, of Petersburg was cited by Alaska Wildlife Troopers for personal use fishing for Dungeness Crab with gear not equipped with a bio-escape mechanism. Bail is set at $120.

On 1-8-19 Sitka AWT contacted Michael R. Keating, age 62 of Sitka upon his return from hunting. Investigation revealed Keating was operating his vessel while impaired. After failing a series of field sobriety tests Keating was arrested for operating his motor vessel under the influence of alcohol and is set to appear in the District Court in Sitka on 1/29/19.

On 1-8-19 R. Scott Phillips, age 33, of Wrangell was served two summons, by Alaska Wildlife Troopers, for violations regarding his activities during the 2018 Southeast Pot Shrimp Season. Phillips, a commercial shrimp catcher-processor, failed to submit his fish tickets and log books as required by the department. Arraignment is set for 1-30-19 in Wrangell District Court.

On 1/9/19, at about 1340 hours, investigators with the Special Crimes Investigation Unit (SCIU) were assisted by the Anchorage Police Department (APD) in arresting Austin Michael Banks, age 30, of Anchorage on an outstanding felony warrant after investigators tracked him down and found him at a residence off of W 45th Avenue, in Anchorage. Banks' warrant was for Attempted Forgery 1st, Forgery 2nd (x2) and Theft 2nd. APD transported Banks to the Anchorage Jail, where he was remanded on his warrant.

AK Div of Fire and Life Safety
AK19001429Location: FairbanksType: Fatal Fire
On 1/7/2018 at approximately 0415 hours, the University Fire Department received a report of a residential trailer fire at Goldrush Estates in Fairbanks. Multiple fire units responded to fight the fire. The temperature at the time was -36° in Fairbanks. An adult male and an adult female were able to exit the trailer without injury and it was reported that a young child was still inside. A deceased 2-year-old female was found in the bedroom of the burned out residence. A Deputy Fire Marshal responded to the scene to investigate the cause and origin of the fire. The deceased is being transported to the SME’s office in Anchorage for autopsy. Investigation continues.
