AK17073118Location: KetchikanType: Warrant Arrest
On 10/11/2017 at approximately 1550 hrs, Alaska State Troopers contacted 38 year old Samuel Finely of Ketchikan at a residence near Peyton Place. Finley was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for the original charge of Theft in the Second Degree. Finley was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center where he was held on $500.00 bail.

AK17072942Location: JuneauType: Search and Rescue
On 10/10/17 at 2137 hours the United States Coast Guard notified Juneau based Alaska State Troopers of two overdue hunters on Blackerby Ridge approximately 6 miles north of Juneau at roughly 3000 feet elevation. Dalton Tuohy, 22 of Juneau, and Robert Simpson, 24 of Juneau, were unable to continue hiking because Tuohy was experiencing severe leg cramps causing him to go unconscious for short periods of time. The USCG sent an HC-60 helo to their location and transported them to the Juneau International Airport where Dalton was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for medical treatment.

AK17072829Location: WasillaType: Theft
On 10/10/2017 at approximately 1226 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a theft in the area of W. Pittman in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that a Honda generator had been taken from a residence with in the last 24 hours. The generator is valued at approximately $900.00. Investigation continues.

AK17072640Location: WasillaType: MVC - Damage
On 10/09/2017 at approximately 1638 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to a vehicle collision in the area of Parks Hwy and S. Vine. Investigation revealed three cars were involved, one with minor injuries. Medics assessed the patient at the scene and did not transport.

AK17073029Location: WasillaType: Death Investigation
On 10/11/12/017 at approximately 1130 hours, Troopers responded to a residence on West Schrock Rd in Wasilla after dispatch advised a female called to report an elderly family member passed away. An investigator with the State Medical Examiner's office responded as well. Investigation revealed Viva Bush, age 87 of Wasilla, died of natural causes in her home. Investigation reveals nothing suspicious. Next of Kin was on scene and the body was released to a local funeral home.

AK17072940Location: Big LakeType: Driving in Violation of Instructional Permit
On 10/10/2017 at approximately 1936 hours, AST responded to the intersection of Big Lake and Kenlar Road for a report of a single vehicle collision. An investigation revealed Pray L. So'o, 29 YOA of Anchorage, was driving and crashed into the woods. So'o was instructional permit only. So'o was issued a criminal citation for driving in violation of her instructional permit. So'o and the vehicle were released from the scene.

AK17072774Location: New StuyahokType: Escape in the 4th Degree
Update: On 10/11/17 Dawson was captured by local community members accompanying the local Village Police Officers in New Stuyahok, after a brief foot pursuit. Dawson was subsequently transported to the Dillingham Jail via Department aircraft, where he was remanded without further incident.
On October 9th, 2017 at approximately 1730 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Dillingham received a report from the New Stuyahok Village Police Officer who reported Dawson Andrew, age 18 of New Stuyahok, had escaped the jail again. Dawson had been under arrest for three counts of DV Assault in the 4th Degree, one count of DV Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, and one count of Escape in the 4th Degree. The Alaska State Troopers have requested an arrest warrant for one count of Escape in the 4th Degree. Anyone with any information about Dawson Andrew's whereabouts or about anyone assisting Dawson should contact the Alaska State Troopers at 907-842-5641 immediately.

AK17072878Location: FairbanksType: Fail to Register as Sex Offender
On October 11, 2017 at approximately 10:00 am, the Alaska State Troopers contacted Larry Sparks, age 54 of Fairbanks, at a residence in Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Sparks had failed to update the Sex Offender Registry of his address as required. Sparks was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was held without bail for one count of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in the First Degree.

AK Wildlife Troopers
AK17072993Location: Excursion InletType: Commercial Crew License Required
On 10/10/17, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers on board the PV Sentry, issued William Veler, age 54, of Hoonah, a citation for participating in the 2017 miscellaneous shellfish fishery near Excursion Inlet without a valid commercial crewmembers license in possession. Veler was given a $260 fine out of the Juneau District Court for the offense.

AK17072916Location: KodiakType: Overlimit Mountain Goat
On 10/10/2017 at approximately 1545 hours, Kodiak AWT charged Paul Woodward, age 60 of Palmer, with taking an overlimit of mountain goat. Investigation revealed Woodward killed two goats while hunting when he only had one permit. Woodward was issued a summons with an arraignment date of 11/27/2017 in Kodiak District Court.

AK17040180Location: NomeType: Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II and III/Warrant Arrest
On 10/5/17, the Alaska State Troopers In Nome arrested David Fergerson, 57 yoa in Nome on an arrest warrant for Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances in the second and third degree. An investigation conducted by the Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team in Nome showed that D. Fergerson was in possession of and selling methamphetamine and heroin from his residence near a pre-school/daycare in Nome. On 10/11/17, D. Fergerson was indicted by a grand jury and remanded to Anvil Mountain Correctional Center in Nome.
