    Dispatch Text:

    On October 4, 2019, at about 4:30PM, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island received a REDDI report about a male passed out behind the wheel.  Troopers responded and contacted 25 year old Anthony Edenshaw.  Anthony was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of drugs and was transported to the Craig Jail where he was remanded and later released.

    Location: Nikiski
    Type: MICS IV (X2) and VCOR

    Dispatch Text:

    On October 4th, 2019 at 0109 hours, the Alaska State Troopers traffic stopped a red Honda four wheeler for moving and equipment violations on Rambling Road, Nikiski. Investigation revealed David A. Bartley, age 29 of Nikiski, was in possession of controlled substances. Bartley has two prior convictions with in the preceding 10 years making this a felony. Further investigation revealed Bartley was on conditions of release for a criminal case and he was in violation of those conditions by not obeying state law. Bartley was arrested for MICS IV (X2) and VCOR. Bartley was transported to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility where he was remanded and held without bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On October 3rd, 2019 at approximately 2300 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted Joshua M. Ley, age 36 of Soldotna, at a residence on Reflection Lake Road, Kasilof. Investigation revealed Ley had an active warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment for the original charge of DWLR. Ley was arrested for the warrant. Ley was transported to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility where he was remanded and held on $500.00 bail.

    Type: Warrant Arrest

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/02/19 at approximately 2310 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence off of Pioneer Peak Dr. in Wasilla. Investigation revealed a male at the residence, Jason Wells, 34 of Wasilla, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Wells was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial with $500 bail.

    On 10/03/19 at approximately 1839 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a business off of Knik Goose Bay Rd. in Wasilla where an older male at the store reported a DV assault. Investigation revealed Joseph Lipscomb, 20 of Wasilla had committed DV Assault in the 4th degree. Lipscomb was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial with no bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/03/19 at approximately 2354 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a male passed out in a white Chevy box truck at the corner of Old Glenn and Clark Wolverine Rd. in Palmer. Investigation revealed Christopher Hartman, age 30 of Wasilla, was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Hartman was arrested for DUI and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was subsequently charged with refusal to submit to a chemical test. Hartman was remanded with $500 bail.

    On 10-4-19 at approximately 0853 hours, Trooper received a call about a deceased male near Sheep Creek Road.  James McFadden, 73, was located deceased.  The State Medical Examiner was contacted and requested James' remains for an autopsy.  Next of Kin has been notified.

    On October 4, 2019 at approximately 2100 hours, AST contacted Robert Backstrom, 37 of Soldotna, on a routine traffic stop. Investigation revealed Robert was driving with a suspended license and had multiple convictions of Driving While License Cancelled/ Suspended/ Revoked. Robert was remanded to FCC on one count of DWLS, where he was released on his own recognizance.

    Type: Undersize Dungeness Crab

    Dispatch Text:

    On 9-28-19 Sitka Wildlife Troopers contacted Randall Haigh, age 50, of Sitka and Wade Parrish, age 55, of Sitka, in the area of Appleton Cove. Investigation revealed each man had retained three Dungeness crabs less than the minimum lawful size of 6.5 inches. Both were cited for Retaining Undersize Crab, fine $180.

    Location: Sitka
    Type: Fail to Salvage Game Meat and Validate Harvest Tickets

    Dispatch Text:

    On 9-28-19 Wildlife Troopers contacted Randall Haigh, age 50, of Sitka, in the area of Appleton Cove. Investigation revealed Haigh harvested three deer the previous day and failed to validate any harvest tickets and had failed to salvage all portions of meat as required. Haigh was issued a citation for Failure to Validate Harvest Tickets with a fine of $170, and was issued a summons for Failure to Salvage Game Meat with a mandatory appearance in the Sitka court on 10-8-19.

    Hunters are reminded Alaska law requires successful deer, moose, caribou, sheep, goat, bison, and muskox hunters to salvage the meat of the four quarters to the knee or hock, all meat along the backbone, as well as the meat of the ribs, neck, and brisket with close trimming.

    On 10/3/2019,  Kodiak based Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted and cited Pisa Faumui, age 60 of Kodiak for retaining a snagged Silver Salmon.  Bail was set at $120.00.  The salmon was donated to charity.

    Type: Unlawfully take a sub-legal bull moose during the Gustavus RM 049 registration hunt.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/2/18, Hoonah AWT cited Gustavus resident, Gregory Taylor, age 42, for unlawfully taking a sub-legal bull moose during the RM 049 moose registration hunt in Gustavus. Taylor's moose measure 48 inches with 2 brown tines per side when a legal bull moose is required to have antlers at least 50 inches, or have 3 brow tines, or be a spike/fork bull moose. The moose meat was donated to the Salvation Army in Hoonah, and to the Hoonah Schools. Taylor was given a court date of October 9th in the Hoonah court.

    Location: Chilkat River / Haines area
    Type: Bear Mauling

    Dispatch Text:

    On 10/03/2019 at approximately 1959 hours, Alaska State Troopers, Haines post, were notified of a brown bear attack along the Chilkat River, approximately a mile above the Haines Highway. Scott Bradford age 55 and his son, Casey Bradford, age 21, both of Haines were returning back to their boat from moose hunting when a brown bear emerged from the brush, attacking Casey from behind. Scott fired a shot from his rifle over the bear which was on his sons back. Scott reported the bear released his son, running back into the brush and he attempted to shoot the bear as it left the area. The Bradford’s were able to make it to their vehicle and drive to a medical facility where Casey was treated for non-life threatening injuries. It is not known if the bear was struck when shot at or what motivated the attack. The bear has not been located.
