AK19069073Location: NikiskiType: Warrant Arrest x2, MICS 4
On 10/5/19 at approximately 1216 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to an address on Marie Ave in Nikiski to serve an arrest warrant. Christy Weaver, age 31 of Nikiski, was arrested for an outstanding warrant violating her parole. Additionally AST contacted Luke Spiers, age 27 of Kenai, who was in the neighboring driveway. Investigation revealed Spiers had 3 outstanding warrants for his arrest, 2 for Failing to Remand, and 1 for Failing to Appear for DWLR. AST also located a small amount of heroin in Spiers possesion. Weaver was transported to Wildwood Pretrial where she was remanded on her warrant with a $250 bail. Spiers was transported to Wildwood Pretrial where he was remanded on the warrants as well as Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances 4th Degree with 10 days to serve.

AK19068963Location: Funny RiverType: DUI, DUI Refusal
On 10/4/19 at approximately 1825 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) call near mile 7 of Funny River Rd. AST later located the vehicle and driver at his residence on Browns Lake Rd. Investigation revealed Kevin O'Quinn, age 38 of Soldotna, had driven his vehicle under the influence of alcohol. O'Quinn was subsequently arrested for DUI. O'Quinn later refused to provide a breath sample and was additionally charged with DUI Refusal. O'Quinn was then transported to Wildwood Pretrial where he was remanded on both charges and later released on his own recognizance.

AK19068931Location: NikiskiType: Driving While License Suspensed
On 10/4/19 at approximately 1647 hours, Soldotna AST was conducting patrol in the area of milepost 26 of the Kenai Spur Highway. AST performed a traffic stop on a vehicle, identifying the driver as Olivia Mapes (age 21 of Nikiski). Investigation revealed Mapes' driver's license was suspended and she had a prior Driving While License Suspended (DWLS) conviction. Mapes was arrested and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial on the charge of DWLS, she was release on her own recognizance.

AK19068761Location: SoldotnaType: Vehicle Theft
On 10/04/2019 at approximately 0915 hours, Soldotna Alaska State Troopers discovered a stolen vehicle at a residence in the neighborhood of Irish Hills Road in Soldotna. Further investigation revealed suspect, Cody Fine of Soldotna, stole the vehicle on 08/16/2019 from an address in Clam Culch. Cody was later contacted back at his residence and arrested for the charges of Vehicle Theft 1st degree and Removal of ID Marks.

AK19069001Location: TalkeetnaType: DUI; Assault 4th on Police Officer; Resist Arrest; Criminal Mischief 4th; Disorderly Conduct
On 10/05/19 at 0117 hours, AST performed a traffic stop on a 2005 Honda CRV for equipment violations and erratic driving near mile 7 of the Talkeetna Spur Road. LINDSEY BELL, age 40 of Willow, was arrested for DUI. After Bell was arrested for DUI, she kicked the Trooper in knee causing injury to the Trooper and resisted arrest by force. During the incident a passenger in the CRV, JAMEY GIOFFRE age 42 of Willow, exited the vehicle and was arrested for Disorderly Conduct by the Trooper. Gioffre then proceeded to cause approximately $500 in damage to the paint on the patrol vehicle. Bell was arrested for the original charges of DUI, Assault in the 4th Degree on a Police Officer, and Resisting Arrest. Gioffre was arrested for the original charges of Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree. Both were transported to the MSPT facility in Palmer where Bell was held on $500 bail and Gioffre was released O/R when sober.

AK19068912Location: WasillaType: Burglary / Criminal Mischief / Theft
On 10/4/19 at approximately 1541 hours, AST responded to the area of Mile 50 of the Parks Hwy for the report of an active burglary. Investigation revealed Matthew Rich, age 23 of Wasilla, and another male, which fled the scene prior to AST’s arrival, were taking items from a building on the property. Subsequently, Rich was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial for Burglary, Theft, and Criminal Mischief.

AK19069116Location: FairbanksType: MVC-FATAL
On 10/5/19 at 1421 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a motor vehicle collision at mile six of the Elliott Highway in an active construction area. Both vehicles involved were working on the highway construction project.
Investigation revealed a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup began fishtailing when climbing uphill and lost control on the freshly snow-covered roadway. The Dodge Ram crossed over the centerline and into oncoming traffic. The oncoming traffic was a 1975 Peterbilt dump truck. The Dodge Ram was struck by the Peterbilt and both vehicles came to a stop in the northbound ditch.
The driver of the pickup was pronounced deceased on scene. Investigation is ongoing.

AK19069154Location: FairbanksType: Burglary 2
On October 5, 2019 at approximately 1810 hours, AST received a report of a person trespassing on someone's property. Investigation revealed Christopher Luke, 37 of Fairbanks, had unlawfully entered a shed on the property with the intent to commit a crime. Luke was remanded to FCC for one count of Burglary in the Second Degree where he was held without bail.

AK19069075Location: KodiakType: Fail to Release Snagged Silver Salmon
On 10/5/19 Reynaldo CASTRO, 53 YO of Kodiak, was issued a citation by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Kodiak Post, for failure to release a snagged salmon. Bail is set at $140.00 in the Kodiak Courts.

AK19069081Location: KakeType: Use Cellular Device To Take Big Game
On 9/23/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers received a report that Shane Padgett, age 33 of Kake, had harvested two deer on the Gunuk Creek flats in front of Kake. Investigation revealed Padgett had received a cell phone call immediately prior to harvesting the deer, advising him of the deer's location. Padgett was contacted on 9/26/19 and issued a strict liability citation for taking big game with the use of a cellular device. Padgett has a mandatory court appearance in the Petersburg District Court.
