    On 10/8/18 at approximately 2341 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) report of a blue Dodge Caliber at a gas station near mile 49 of the Parks Hwy occupied by two potentially intoxicated males.  Troopers arrived and contacted the driver of the vehicle, Corey Holsclaw age 19 of Wasilla.  Investigation revealed Holsclaw was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol.  Holsclaw was arrested for DUI Alcohol and Minor Operating after Consuming Alcohol.  Holsclaw was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility where he was issued a citation for Minor Consuming Alcohol and remanded into custody to be released on his own recognizance.

    On 10/9/18 at approximately 0100 hours Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of an Attempted Burglary of a business off the Palmer-Wasilla Highway.  Investigation revealed the front door to the business had been damaged in an attempt to gain entry to the business.   If you have any information regarding this case you are encouraged to call the Alaska State Troopers at 373-8300 or Mat Su Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

    On 10/9/18 at approximately 0420 hours Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a blue Volkswagen Jetta for driving with no lights on the Parks Highway near Lamont Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Jacqueline Garza age 40 of Wasilla had been driving under the influence of alcohol. Garza was arrested for DUI and transported to MSPT where she was remanded with a bail of $500 performance bond.

    Type: Escape/Barricaded suspect

    Dispatch Text:

    Update: On 10/7/18, Kyle Jemewouk, 34 of Elim, escaped from the Elim Holding Facility while being telephonically arraigned for a DV assault that occurred on 10/6/18. AST responded to the community on 10/8/17 when weather allowed. Jemewouk was reported to be held up in a residence, armed with a sword and knife, outside of the community.  On 10/8/18, AST made attempts to arrest Jemewouk outside the Elim Clinic, however, Jemewouk evaded apprehension by using a truck, ATV and boat throughout the night.  Jemewouk was observed to have two knives in his possession during the contact. On 10/9/2018, AST received information that Jemewouk was back at his residence and barricaded. It has been determined that he is alone but still armed. AST established communications with Jemewouk and ultimately negotiated his surrender and the peaceful resolution to the incident. The investigation into the original incident and subsequent actions and criminal activity is ongoing.

    Update: The motorcyclist is identified as Zakary Skinner, 18 of Fairbanks.

    On 10/08/18 at 1449 hours, UAF PD, UAF Fire/EMS, and AST were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Farmers Loop next to Ballaine Lake. A motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and struck the passenger side of a four door hatchback. The driver of the motorcycle was ejected, suffered serious injuries, and was transported to FMH where he is in critical condition. The driver of the car was uninjured. The motorcycle caught fire and is a total loss. The car sustained heavy damage with both vehicle's needing to be towed from the scene. Investigation continues.

    On October 6, 2018 at approximately 7:19 pm, the Alaska State Troopers contacted Charles Lind, age 80 of Fairbanks, at the Fairbanks Rescue Mission. Lind was subsequently arrested for an outstanding felony arrest warrant that was issued for failure to appear at arraignments with the original charges of Concealing Identity of a Vehicle and Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer II. Lind was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center and held on a $5000 cash bail.

    On 10/5/18 at 2110 hours Kyle Nickoli, age 23 of Galena was contacted at a residence in Kaltag he is on conditions of release that he is not supposed to be within 500 feet of.  Kyle Nickol was arrested for Unlawful contact 1 and VCOR and remanded to FCC on no bail.

    On 10/4/18 at 0901 hours a report was received of a pedestrian being hit by a 4 wheeler in Kaltag.  On 10/6/18 at 0947 hours Dustin Semaken, age 37 of Kaltag was arrested for Assault 3 - DV and DUI and remanded to FCC on no bail.

    On October 7, 2018 at approximately 2142 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a blue Subaru Legacy for an equipment violation near the intersection of Seward Highway and Resurrection Blvd in Seward.  AST contacted the driver and identified him as Ethan Lane (36 YOA of Seward).  Records revealed Ethan had two outstanding warrants for his arrest (3AN-18-89CR and 3AN-18-5714CR).  Ethan was arrested and transported to the Anchorage Correctional Complex and held on $1000 bail.

    On 6/12/2018, Desi Mangini, 31 of Washington, was fined $200.00 in the District Court in Ketchikan for failing to submit a geoduck logbook within the required time. The judgment stems from a violation that originally occurred on 5/22/2018 wherein Mangini failed to return the logbooks to ADF&G.

    On 8/12/2018, AWT cited Kalin Johnson, 21 of Utah, and Austin Bennett, 23 of Alberta Canada, for failing to log, a nonresident, a yelloweye landing.  Johnson and Bennett were contacted sport fishing near Point Stanhope.  The violation has a set $110.00 fine.

    Type: Poached Moose/Wanton Waste

    UPDATE: On 12/06/18 the Homer District Court found Rusty Counts guilty of 21 wildlife violations from a poaching incident during the 2018 moose season on the Kenai Peninsula where he shot three sub legal bull moose, and left them all to waste in the field. Counts was sentenced to serve 270 days in jail, and pay a fine of approximately $102,650.00, with $3000.00 in restitution, forfeiture of rifle and ATV, and loss of hunting licenses for three years.  

    On 9/14/18, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Anchor Point Post, received a report that someone had shot a sub-legal bull moose and left it in the field off Hannah Rene Road in Anchor Point.  AWT responded, Investigation revealed that, Rusty Counts 39 YOA of Anchor Point and a juvenile had shot and killed three separate bull moose throughout the season.   None of the moose killed met the legal antler requirements for the area (45”, 25”and 26” antler spreads).  Only one back strap off one moose had been salvaged the rest of the meat was left on the 3 animal’s in the field to spoil. On 10/3/18, Counts was charged with: Wanton Waste of a Big Game Animal x3, Take Sublegal Moose Closed Season x3, Take Over Limit of Moose x2, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor x3, Illegal Possession x1, Fail to Seal Antlers x3, Fail to Report Hunt x3, Fail to Validate Harvest Ticket x3.  Arraignment has been set for Counts to appear on 10/23/18 at 0900 hours, in Homer District Court.

    On 10/05/2018 at approximately 1555  hours, Alaska State Troopers were notified by the Anchorage Police Department of a REDDI vehicle traveling southbound on the Seward Highway from Anchorage to Seward. Troopers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near mile post 86.0 of the Seward Highway. The driver was identified as Kurt R. Weathers, age 42 of Seward. Investigation revealed that Weathers was driving under the influence of alcohol with a 14 year old child riding as a passenger in the vehicle and was arrested at the scene without incident. Weathers was transported to the Anchorage Jail and would not provide a sample of his breath. Weathers was then charged with refusal in addition to DUI and remanded to the Anchorage Jail without incident and held on $500.00 cash performance bond.
