    Location: Ketchikan
    Type: MICS 3rd Degree x3, VCOR

    Dispatch Text:

    On 11/10/2017 at about 1843 hours, the Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Timothy Berry, age 24 of Ketchikan in the 3800 block of Denali Avenue.  Investigation revealed that Berry was in possession of Methamphetamine, non-prescribed medication, and drug paraphernalia.  Further investigation revealed that Berry was on current conditions of release set by the Ketchikan Courthouse and had violated his conditions by not obeying state law.  Berry was arrested and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail.

    Type: Warrant Arrest, MICS 4th Degree, VCOR

    Dispatch Text:

    On 11/07/2017 at about 2155 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop on a purple Dodge Neon for a moving violation near the intersection of Tongass Avenue and Jefferson Street.  Investigation revealed that the driver Jessica Leighton, age 40 of Ketchikan had an outstanding arrest warrant reference the original charge of Theft in the 3rd Degree.  With the assistance of SEACAD and K-9 Misty further investigation revealed subsequent to a search warrant on the vehicle that Leighton was in possession of Methamphetamine and drug related paraphernalia.  Leighton was arrested on her outstanding warrant and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center.  Leighton was later issued a Summons for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree and citations for VCOR and Failure to Show Proof of Insurance. Alaska State Troopers would like to thank Ketchikan Police Department with their assistance during the investigation.

    Type: Warrant Arrest

    Dispatch Text:

    On 11/11/2017 at approximately 1803 hours, Alaska State Troopers performed a traffic stop on a Silver 1997 Honda Civic on Palmer-Wasilla Hwy and Parks Hwy. Investigation revealed Kyl Briske, age 24 of Anchorage, had an outstanding AST warrant for Failure to Appear to court on the original charge of Theft 4. Briske was arrested at the scene and was remanded to MSPT with bail set at $500 cash.

    Type: Death Investigation

    Dispatch Text:

    On 11-10-17 at approximately 1800 hours AST responded to a welfare check request on "Donny" Albert Eller Jr., age 54 of Copper Center. Investigation resulted in AST forcing entry to the residence where Eller was found to be deceased. Eller had been ill and suffered from chronic medical conditions. No foul play is suspected.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 11-9-17 at approximately 0130 hours AST conducted a traffic stop on a white 2011 Impala on the Richardson Hwy near the intersection of the Edgerton Hwy. Investigation revealed the driver, Robert McConkey, age 32 of Copper Center to be driving with a revoked DL and in violation of an IID requirement. McConkey was issued a criminal citation to appear in court at a later time.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 11/11/2017 at approximately 0337 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a tan 2002 Chevrolet Silverado involved in a MVA-D on Fireweed Rd. and Gershmel Lp. in Palmer. Investigation revealed that Scott Ballard, age 28 of Palmer, was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol. Ballard was arrested at the scene for Driving Under the Influence and Refusal to Submit a Chemical Test. Ballard was transported to MSRH for medical clearance then remanded at MSPT where he was released under his own recognizance once sober.

    On 11/11/17 at 0450 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a vehicle in the ditch at PWH and Equestrian Pl.  Investigation revealed Samir Chettfour age 28 of Palmer was operating a white 2006 Chevrolet pickup while impaired by alcohol when he went off of the road into a ditch.  Chettfour was arrested for DUI Alcohol and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and remanded with bail set at $500.

    Type: Missing Persons

    Dispatch Text:

    Update: On 11/13/17, the State Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Keith Aumavae. The SMEO determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma consistent with impact from driving a car off of a cliff. There were no suspicious injuries or defensive type wounds observed on Aumavae’s body. No foul play is suspected at this time. Toxicology test results will not be available for a several weeks. Next of kin have been notified of these findings.

    Update: On 11/09/17, at approximately 1650 hours, AST received a report of a vehicle at the bottom of a cliff overlooking the inlet near Goose Bay Airport. Troopers responded and located the vehicle down a 100-foot cliff. The vehicle, later determined to be a 2001 Chrysler Sebring registered to Keith Aumavae was partially covered with silt and only accessible at low tide. On 11/10/17, at approximately 1637 members of the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group (AMRG) assisted Troopers in reaching the vehicle. Human remains believed to be those of Keith Aumavae were found inside the vehicle. The remains have been sent to the State Medical Examiner for positive identification and to determine cause and manner of death.  Next of Kin have been notified. The investigation is continuing.

    On 10/27/2017 at approximately 1553 hours, it was reported to AST that Keith Ben Aumavae, 30 of Palmer, was missing and was last seen on 10/19/2017. His family is very concerned about his well-being as it is out of character for him to not be in regular contact with them or for him to not be at his Palmer residence for days. Aumavae's vehicle is also unaccounted for. He drives a Silver 2001 Chrysler Sebring bearing license plate KAG300 and is known to frequent both Anchorage and the Valley. Aumavae is approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 380 pounds. He has short dark brown hair and brown eyes.  If anyone has any information about Aumavae's whereabouts, they are encouraged to contact the Alaska State Troopers in Palmer at 907-745-2131 or your local law enforcement agency.

    Type: Assault 4th Degree; Criminal Mischief 4th Degree; Probation Violation

    Dispatch Text:

    On 11/10/17 at 2000 hours, AST responded to a residence on Hematite Drive in Wasilla for the report of a disturbance. Investigation revealed Kaleb Paulus, age 26 of Wasilla, assaulted a family member and damaged property inside the dwelling during the incident. Paulus was arrested for the original charges of Assault in the 4th Degree and Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree. Paulus was also on probation for Felony DUI and Palmer Probations subsequently revoked Paulus' probation. Paulus was transported to the MSPT facility in Palmer where he was remanded into custody and held without bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 11/10/17 at 2340 hours, AST responded to Fairview Loop near the Parks Highway in Wasilla for the report of a dangerous driver. AST observed the suspect vehicle, a green 1999 Ford pick-up, and performed a traffic stop. Investigation revealed Morgan Hodsdon, age 25 of Palmer, was driving under the influence of alcohol and refused to provide a breath sample for the Datamaster. Hodsdon was arrested for the original charges of DUI and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. Hodsdon was transported to the MSPT facility in Palmer where she was remanded into custody and released O/R when sober.

    On 11/10/17 Emmonak AST received a report of a theft from a citizen in Emmonak. It was reported that a boat prop valued at approximately $729.00 was taken from her boat sometime today. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Emmonak AST at 907-949-1300.

    Type: Criminal Mischief 4 - DV, Assault 4 on a Police Officer, Assault 4

    On November 10, 2017 at approximately 2247 hours, the Alaska State Troopers learned of a disturbance in Ambler. Brent Jones, a 22 year old male of Ambler, was arrested for Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree (domestic violence related), Assault in the Fourth Degree on Police Officer, and Assault in the Fourth Degree. Brent is currently in the Ambler holding facility pending arraignment.

    On 11-10-2017, at approximately 1500 hours, a Dillingham based VPSO contacted Paul Chythlook, age 71, of Aleknagik at his residence.  An investigation disclosed Chythlook had an active arrest warrant.  Original charge of Criminal Trespass Trespass.  Chythlook was arrested and transported to the Dillingham Correctional Center without incident.  Bail was set at $50

    Location: Fairbanks
    Type: Burglary/ Vehicle Theft/ Eluding

    Dispatch Text:

    On November 11, 2017 at 0817 hours, The Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report that two vehicles had been stolen from a garage overnight. AST observed one of the vehicles driving on Chena Pump Road. AST attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, however the vehicle failed to stop; leading AST on a pursuit. After spike strips were successfully deployed, the vehicle crashed into the ditch; where the driver foot bailed. After a brief foot chase, the driver identified as Shawn Kirkvold, age 22 of Fairbanks was taken into custody. Dametrey Rice, age 23 of Fairbanks was also taken into custody as an accomplice. The second vehicle was later recovered.

    On 11/11/17 at approximately 0324 hours AST conducted a traffic stop on the Johansen Expy with a vehicle that failed to dim it’s headlights to approaching traffic.  The driver was identified as Mckayla Darby, age 16, of Fairbanks.  The investigation revealed Darby has never been issued an Alaska Driver’s License.  Darby was issued a misdemeanor summons for NVOL and released on scene.

    On 11/11 /2017 at approximately 0300 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Tundra on Farmers Loop in Fairbanks for a moving violation. Investigation revealed the driver, George Cachuela age 25 of Arizona, was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Cachuela was arrested for DUI and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center for remand where he was released on his own recognizance.

    On November 11, 2017 at approximately 4:12 a.m. Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report of a disturbance near Lakeview Terrace. Troopers contacted Robert Madison, age 41 of Fairbanks. Investigation revealed that Madison was in violation of his conditions of release from a previous Criminal Mischief 4 DV case. Madison was placed under arrest for Violating Conditions of Release and transported to Fairbanks Correctional Center.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 11/9/2017 at approximately 1515 hours, Soldotna Troopers were patrolling Kalifornsky Beach Road when they conducted a traffic stop at mile 4.5 of Kalifornsky Beach Road for a equipment violation. The vehicle was a blue Chevrolet Cobalt and the driver was identified by his AKDL as Eugene J. Maestas age 23 from Kenai. Investigation revealed Eugene Maestas has never had an Alaska Driver’s license.


    Eugene J. Maestas was issued a Misdemeanor citation for No Valid Operator’s License.  The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

    Type: Leaving the Scene of a Accident

    Dispatch Text:

    On 11/9/2017 at approximately 1753 hours, Soldotna Troopers responded to a hit and run on Holt Lamplight. Investigation revealed a white Chevrolet truck was unable to stop at the intersection of Braun and Holt Lamplight. The vehicle slide through the intersection and collided with a vehicle traveling on Holt Lamplight. The driver of the white truck Laura Little age 23 from Nikiski left the scene of the accident immediately after it took place. The vehicle and Laura Little was located the next day. Laura Little was issued a misdemeanor citation for Leaving the Scene of damage only accident.
