    On December 2, 2019, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island contacted 46 year old Kirk Rasmus at his residence in Hydaburg.  Rasmus was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for Violating Conditions of Release.  Rasmus was transported to the Craig Jail where he was remanded on $2500.00 bail.

    Type: Assault 4th, Domestic Violence & DWLR

    Dispatch Text:

     On 12-02-19 at 1237 hours, the Soldotna AST K-9 Team responded to a report of a disturbance occurring in the middle of the Highway at Mackey Lake Rood and Gibbons Drive. Upon arrival investigation revealed Willard J. Hutson was involved in an altercation with his wife. Hutson was arrested for Assault 4th Domestic Violence and Driving on a Revoked Operators License, Revoked for the original charge of DUI. Hutson was transported and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial where he is currently being held without bail.

    On 12/1/19 at approximately 2253 hours, Soldotna AST stopped a blue Chevrolet pickup near Mile 13 Kenai Spur Highway for an equipment violation and for recognizing the driver as someone who repeatedly drives on a suspended/revoked drivers license.  The driver, Matthew Luke, age 22 of Nikiski, was placed under arrest for driving while license revoked.  Matthew Luke was remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility.

    On 12/02/2019 at 0448 hours, Patrick Mahan age 50 was contacted at his residence in Soldotna. He had called and had stated he woke up from a bad dream and wanted help. Mahan was found to have an arrest warrant. Mahan was arrested, transported, and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial.

    On 12/2/2019, at approximately 1733 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of trespassing at Three Bears Alaska on Pittman Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Amber Briggs, age 30 of Big Lake, committed the crime of Criminal Trespass 2 and had an active warrant for Violating Conditions of Release on original charge Felony DUI. Briggs was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where she was remanded and held without bail.

    On 12/2/2019, at approximately 1908 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Palmer Police Department lobby for a report of two individuals with warrants. Investigation revealed Jacob Melton, age 34 of Wasilla and Brittany Melton, age 34 of Wasilla were turning themselves in on their outstanding warrants. Jacob was remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial on his warrant for original charges Fraudulent use of a stolen access device x4, Fraudulent use of an access device x5 and Theft 2 x7. Brittany was remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial on her warrant for original charges Fraudulent use of a stolen access device x4, Fraudulent use of on access device x3, Unauthorized use of an access device x2 and Theft 2 x7. Both Jacob and Brittany are being held on $50,000 cash bail each.

    UPDATE: The deceased motorist has been identified as Richard Krause, 72, of Willow. NOK have been notified.

    On 11/17/19 at approximately 2000 hours Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision at Mile 95 of the Parks Highway. Investigation revealed a motorist operating a sedan had been driving southbound on the Parks Highway in the wrong lane of travel. Road conditions were icy with heavy snowfall. The vehicle collided head-on with a commercial tractor trailer driving northbound. Medics responded and declared the driver of the sedan deceased at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. Next of kin have not been notified. Investigation continues.

    On 12/01/2019 at approximately 2310 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a green 2001 Ford Focus on Church Road and Mission Hills for a moving violation. Investigation revealed the driver, Jared Mayer age 24 of Wasilla, was driving while license was revoked with a prior conviction. Mayer was issued a misdemeanor citation for DWLR and released.

    On 12/02/2019, at approximately 0115 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a gray Pontiac for a moving violation on Talkeetna Spur, in Talkeetna.  Investigation revealed that Chase Miller, age 29, of Talkeetna, was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol.  Miller was arrested at the scene for Driving Under the Influence and transported to Mat Su Pretrial where his bail was set at $500.

    On 11/29/2019 at 1437 hours the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks about an individual attempting to contact another person after being prohibited by the court to make contact.  Investigation determined Sarajo Hardt, age 38 from Fairbanks, attempted to make 13 calls to an individual she was not to contact while she was at FCC for another charge.  Hardt was charged with 13 counts of VCOR and 13 counts of Unlawful Contact 1st and was held with no bail pending arraignment.

    On 12/02/2019 at 1558 hours the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report about a vehicle stopped on Sheep Creek Road with the driver passed out at the wheel.  Investigation determined John Long III, age 45 from Arizona was under the influence of alchol while in operation of the vehicle.  Long was arrested for DUI and subsequently refused to submit to a chemical test.  Long was remanded to FCC for DUI and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test where he was held on $2000 bail due to prior DUI convictions.

    On 12-1-2019 at approximately 1430 hours, AST received a report of a rolling domestic violence assault in a vehicle that was traveling south towards Delta Junction.  A short time later, Delta AST intercepted the vehicle outside of Delta Junction and contacted the occupants.  Investigation revealed that Sheila Jordan, 47 yoa from Copper Center, had assaulted a family member inside of the vehicle they occupied while driving south towards Delta Junction.  Sheila was placed under arrest for D.V assault 4th degree and also for interfering with the report of a domestic violence crime to 911.  Sheila was transported and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center without bail.

    On 11/30/2019 at 1843 hours the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks conducted a traffic stop for a moving violation at University and Sandvik in Fairbanks.  Investigation determined the driver, Xa'Holshiyh Huntington, age 21 from Fairbanks was on Conditions of Release not to drive without a valid license and her Alaska driver's license was revoked.  Huntington was arrested and remanded to FCC where she was held on $250 bail.  The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

    On December 02, 2019, Alaska Wildlife Troopers issued 63 year old Tennessee resident Franklin S. HALSTEAD a citation after he harvested a black bear at Irish Cove in Game Management Unit 6D without the appropriate RL065 permit. This citation carries a mandatory court appearance scheduled for December 18, 2019 at the Cordova Court.

    UPDATE: On 11-26-19, Jonathan W. McGraw Jr, age, 45 of Naukati, plead guilty to two commercial fishing misdemeanors.  The convictions are the result of a 2017, Alaska Wildlife Trooper investigation that showed McGraw harvested commercial cucumbers in a closed areas, unlawfully possessed the cucumbers, and provided false information on fish tickets.  The area where the cucumbers were illegally harvested is an ADF&G research area where commercial diving is never permitted.  McGraw was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail, pay $35,228.34 in fines, and loss of his commercial fishing privileges and license for one year .  McGraw additionally was placed on one year probation. 

    ORIGINAL TEXT: On 03/07/2018 Alaska Wildlife Troopers from Klawock, Petersburg, and Wrangell concluded an investigation which begin in December 2017.  Investigation determined Jonathan McGraw Jr. age 43, from Naukati, Keith Wagner, age 52 from Naukati, and Curtis Looper, age 27 from Naukati were commercially harvesting sea cucumbers from closed waters including from the sea cucumber preserve in Whale Pass.  McGraw’s boat the F/V Bottom Time, a 19 foot aluminum work skiff, his dive gear, and 1263 pounds of sea cucumbers were seized on 12/19/2017.  McGraw was charged with 7 counts of Commercial Fishing Closed Waters, 7 counts of Illegal Possession, 6 counts Falsifying Fish Tickets, 1 count of Violating Conditions of Release, 1 count of Fail to Display Vessel Identification, and 1 count of Employing an Unlicensed Crewmember.  Wagner and Looper were charged with one count each of Commercial Fishing Closed Waters and Illegal Possession.  Looper was additionally charged with one count of No Crewmember License. 

    In all, McGraw is suspected of unlawfully harvesting sea cucumbers on 7 occasions totaling 7,506 pounds of sea cucumbers valued at a total of $35,288.
