    Dispatch Text:

    On 12/4/2017, at approximately 1652 hours, the Saxman VPSO responded to the PeaceHealth Emergency Department for a report of a DV Assault after the fact.  Investigation revealed that Matthew Williams, age 57 of Saxman, assaulted a family member when he pushed the relative down a set of stairs causing injury.  Williams was taken into custody and transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center, where he was held without bail until arraignment.

    Type: Death Investigation

    Dispatch Text:

    Update: The deceased is identified as Weston Gladney, 36 of Anchorage. Gladney’s next of kin has been notified. The death is being investigated as a homicide. Gladney was found deceased by a person recreating on a trail near Sullivan Avenue and Caudill road. Anyone with information regarding Gladney’s whereabouts for the past week are encouraged to contact Alaska State Troopers in Palmer at 352-5401.

    On 12/2/2017 at approximately 1520 hours, Alaska State Troopers were notified of a deceased person in the Jim Creek area.  AST responded to investigate. The body was transported to the SME’s office in Anchorage for autopsy. Investigation is ongoing.

    On 12/05/2017 at approximately 0137 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Sutton for a moving violation.  Investigation revealed the passenger, Dustin Helmandollar, age 28 of Sutton, had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of DUI.  Helmandollar was arrested and transported to Matsu Pretrial where he was held without bail.

    Location: Glennallen, mile post 43 Richardson Hwy
    Type: MVC-D

    Dispatch Text:

    On 12/03/17, at approximately 2008 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to mile 43 of the Richardson Hwy for the report of a semi-truck in the ditch blocking traffic.  Investigation revealed a fuel tanker operated by Alaska Fuel Services was northbound on the Richardson Hwy when it lost traction on the icy wet roads and slid partially into the southbound ditch.  While on scene a semi-truck operated by Carlile Transportation Systems attempted to negotiate the scene and the unloaded trailer the tractor was pulling slid across the road and stuck the fuel tanker blocking both lanes of travel.  No injuries were reported and only minor damage occurred.  The Richardson Hwy was closed for approximately six hours before DOT and a Tow truck Service could clear the road.

    On 12-4-17 at 0929 hours, AST dispatch received a report from an individual reporting he parked at the Park and Ride at Seward Meridian and now items are missing off of his truck. Troopers contacted the truck owner. Investigation reveals the truck owner parked his truck at the Park and Ride on 11-30-17 and 12-01-17. He later noticed his RIGID brand DOT approved fog lights ($380) and the mounting brackets ($120) were missing along with his front license plate.

    Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the Alaska State Troopers at 745-2131 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333

    Type: Motor Vehicle Collision - Injury

    Dispatch Text:

    On 12/05/2017 at approximately 1751 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Knik Goose Bay (KGB) Road and Fairview Loop in Wasilla for a report of an injury motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed Anita Powell, age 57 of Wasilla, was driving her silver Ford sedan south on KGB and turned left onto Fairview Loop in front of Rhonda Bonner, age 51 of Wasilla, in her green Saturn sedan who was driving north on KGB. Bonner sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by EMS to a local hospital. Powell sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene. Both vehicles are suspected to be totaled. Both drivers report wearing seatbelts and alcohol was not a factor in this incident.

    Location: Kotzebue
    Type: Search and Rescue/Body Recovery

    Dispatch Text:

    On 12/1/2017 at approximately 2320 hours, it was reported that Jared Walker, 32 of Kotzebue, was overdue in returning to Kotzebue from a camp near the mouth of the Noatak River, approximately 10 miles north from Kotzebue. Walker was last heard from at 12/1/2017 at approximately 1440 hours. He was expected in Kotzebue at 1600 hours that same day. A hasty team was sent to the cabin, but Walker was not there. Surrounding villages were asked to look for him within their communities. The search efforts have been ongoing since the time he was reported meeting. On 12/5/2017 at approximately 1230 hours, Walker’s body was located near Jones Camp, approximately six miles north of Kotzebue, by a family member that was participating in search efforts. Next of kin has been notified. After Walker’s body is recovered, it will be sent to the SME’s Office in Anchorage for autopsy.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 12-5-17, at 034 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Best Western on TVSA Way on a report a disturbance.  Investigation revealed Tiffany Dahl, age 22, of Fairbanks assaulted her boyfriend.  Dahl was arrested and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center on charges of Assault 3, Assault 4 and Violating Conditions of Release.

    Dispatch Text:

    On December 4th, 2017 at approximately 1013 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted a white motor home near Debbie Street, Soldotna. Investigation revealed Noah D. Price, age 22 of Soldotna, was impaired by controlled substances while operating his vehicle. Further investigation revealed Price was on felony probation. Price was arrested for DUI and a probation violation. Price was transported to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility where he was held without bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 12-4-17 at 2006 hours, Soldotna dispatch received a report that a semi-truck hit a passenger truck at 74 mile of the Seward Highway.  Alaska State Troopers responded and contacted both drivers. Investigation revealed that the driver of the passenger truck, Clifford Roerig, age 28 of Seward, lost control of his vehicle on the ice, crossed the center line and caused the accident with the semi.  Roerig and the semi-truck driver declined medical treatment, seatbelts were worn and alcohol was not a factor.  Roerig was cited for causing the crash.  Roerig’s vehicle was towed from the scene and the semi was driven away.

    On December 3, 2017 at approximately 1256 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep Cherokee on the Seward Highway near the Hope junction intersection for an equipment violation.  Investigation revealed Mandi Bolinder, 36 YOA of Kenai, was driving under the influence and also had her six month old child in the vehicle while driving intoxicated.  Mandi was arrested for DUI and Reckless Endangerment.  Mandi was then transported and remanded to Seward Jail.

    Type: Misconduct Involving Weapons 3rd degree/Misconduct involving weapons 4th degree/Probation and Parole Violations

    Dispatch Text:

    On 12/5/17 at about 1130 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a home invasion at a residence off Kishka St. in Nikiski.  Upon arrival contact was made with the complainant, Joshua Dylan Vars, age 32 of Anchorage, who was the only one at the residence. Investigation revealed Vars is on felony probation/parole for Assault 3rd Degree with conditions not to consume controlled substances or be in possession of a concealable firearm. Vars was found to have been in possession of a handgun after using a controlled substance. Vars was arrested and transported by Kenai Probations to Wildwood pretrial where he was remanded on several probation/parole violations as well as Misconduct Involving Weapons 3rd degree (Felon in possession) and Misconduct Involving Weapons 4th degree (possession of a firearm while impaired).  No signs of a home invasion were found at the residence and consumption of a controlled substance is suspected to be a factor.

    Type: Theft II & Unlawful Possession and Transportation (moose)

    Dispatch Text:

    On 12/01/17 at approximately 0948 hours, a Fairbanks-based Alaska Wildlife Trooper received a report of a moose taken from a roadside charity after a motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed Joshua Smith, age 41 of North Pole, had taken the moose from Mile 3 of Eielson Farm Road prior to the responsible charity arriving at the location. The moose was seized and given back to the responsible charity. Smith was issued two summons with a mandatory court date in the Fairbanks District Court on 01/02/18 at 0900 for the criminal charges.

    On December 3rd, 2017 the Wildlife Troopers patrolled the Steese Highway for the ongoing RC867 caribou registration hunt. AWT issued citations to Sidney Shell, 35yoa of Wasilla, Michael Duff, 62yoa of Wasilla, Michael Bardsley, 26yoa of Fairbanks, and Eric Stafford, 22yoa of Fort Wainwright for failing to validate their permits. Alaska regulation requires hunters to validate their permits immediately after taking a caribou. Bail for the citations is $160.

    On 12/04/2017 at approximately 0825 hours, Kodiak AWT contacted a blue GMC Yukon due to suspicious circumstances on Monashka Bay Road.  Investigation revealed the driver, Thomas Carlson, age 27 of Kodiak, was operating the vehicle without motor vehicle liability insurance in violation of his conditions of release.  The passenger, Jose Rodas-Fuentas, age 21 of Kodiak, was found to be in possession of black tar heroin.  AWT issued both Carlson and Rodas-Fuentas summons’s with an arraignment date of 12/20/2017 in Kodiak District Court.
