AK19085457Location: Mile 48 Seward HighwayType: Theft 3, Criminal Trespass 2, Criminal Mischief 5
On December 4, 2019 at approximately 2323 hours, Alaska State Troopers were notified of a vehicle break in at the Manitoba Cabin trail head, located near mile 48 of the Seward Highway. Investigation revealed an unknown suspect(s) broke out the front passenger side window of a white 2019 Chevy Silverado, opened the hood, disconnected the battery, and stole both headlights from the vehicle. Nothing was taken from inside the cab. The theft occurred sometime between 1400 and 2230 hours. AK19085630Location: Mile 82 Sterling Highway, SterlingType: DWLR
On 12-5-19 at 1203 hours, the Soldotna AST K-9 Team conducted a traffic stop near Mile 82, Sterling Highway after observing the driver of a maroon 1996 Chevrolet Truck not wearing his seatbelt. The driver was contacted and identified as Kenneth J. Sheppard, 54 YOA Sterling. An APSIN check revealed Sheppard’s Operators License is Revoked for the original charge of DUI. Sheppard was issued a misdemeanor citation with a mandatory court date for DWLR.

AK19085805Location: Mile 75.5 Sterling Highway, SterlingType: Fugitive from Justice
On 12-5-19 at 1829 hours, the Soldotna AST K-9 Team conducted a traffic stop near Mile 75.5, Sterling Highway after observing a red 2000 Dodge Truck traveling above the posted speed limit. The driver was contacted and identified as Robert Wayne Hughes, 47 YOA of Soldotna. An APSIN / NCIC check revealed Hughes is currently a Fugitive from Justice from the State of California for the original charge of vehicle theft. California Law Enforcement and Intake were contacted, and the Extradition of Hughes was confirmed. Hughes was arrested and transported to Wildwood Pretrial where he was remanded without bail and is awaiting Extradition to California for the crime of Vehicle Theft.

AK19078461Location: FairbanksType: Homicide
Update: On 12/5/2019, at 1530 hours, Alaska State Troopers arrested Ryder Alan Smith, 22, of Fairbanks, for Murder in the First Degree in the death of Peter Horace-Wright.
11/14/2019 at approximately 0511 hours, AST responded to a report of shooting at a commercial property off of Peger Rd. One person was located deceased on scene. The deceased is identified as Peter Horace-Wright, 24 of Fairbanks. Next of kin for Horace-Wright was notified. The General Investigative Unit has responded to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death. Investigation is ongoing.

AK19085378Location: FairbanksType: VCOR Arrest
On 12/04/2019 at approximately 1854 hours, AST received a report that Joshua Sanford (age 35) of Fairbanks had violated his conditions of release by contacting the victim. Investigation lead to the arrest of Joshua for four counts of VCOR and one count of Unlawful Contact. Joshua was transported to FCC where he was held without bail.

AK19085413Location: FairbanksType: Assault 4 DV
On 12/04/19, at approximately 1828 hours, Fairbanks Emergency Communication Center received a 911 hang-up with a female yelling that she was being assaulted. Sounds of a disturbance could be heard in the background and the phone was unable to be reached on call-back. AST responded to the residence and contacted multiple individuals. Investigation lead to the arrest of Julia Tukle (age 52) for Assault 4 Domestic Violence. Julia was transported to FCC and held without bail.
