    Type: Fatal Collision

    Dispatch Text:

    Update: On 12/7/17 at approximately 1302 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a collision at approximately mile 97 of the Parks Highway involving two vehicles.   Freezing rain in the area made the roads extremely icy.  Troopers and EMS responded to the scene and EMS transported the three people involved to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.  Shortly after arriving at the hospital, 39 year old Margaret Reynolds, a passenger of one of the vehicles, was pronounced deceased. 

    Investigation revealed one vehicle was driving north on the Parks Highway when the driver lost control due to the icy road conditions.  The vehicle crossing into on-coming traffic and struck another vehicle head-on.  Reynolds had recently moved to Talkeetna from Mississippi.  Her next of kin have been notified.

    On 12/07/2017 at approximately 0223 hours, an adult male contacted the Alaska State Troopers reporting he was assaulted on the Glenn Highway near mile 38.  The victim stated a white sedan occupied by three individuals stopped and two males exited the vehicle and assaulted the victim.  The victim was transported to Matsu Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Alaska State Troopers at 745-2131 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

    On 12/7/17 at 0008 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Marilyn Drive in Palmer for a report of Austin Green age 48 of Palmer violating a DV protective order.  Investigation revealed Green was in violation of the Protective order and subsequently remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial for Violation of a DV Protective Order and held without bail.

    On 11/30/2017, at approximately 1119 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a theft in the area of McKenchnie Loop, in Palmer.  Investigation revealed a Warn 8K model 8000 or 8200 winch had been stolen from a trailer.  The case is currently under investigation.  Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Alaska State Troopers at 745-2131 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

    On 12/6/17, at approximately 1900 hours, Alaska State Troopers arrested Helen Them, 26, of Anchorage, on outstanding misdemeanor warrants for her arrest.  Them was contacted as an occupant of a residence in Anchorage during an unrelated investigation.  Them was taken into custody and transported to CIPT and held on $1500 bail.

    On 12/5/17 at approximately 2300 hours, St. Mary’s AST received a report from MT. Village of a male who assaulted his girlfriend and was firing gun shots from his residence.  Subsequent investigation revealed Jason Johnson-age 32 of Mt. Village, assaulted his 20 year-old girlfriend multiple times causing her physical injury and placing her in fear of being shot.  The village was placed on lock-down for approximately five hours during the incident.  Johnson was subsequently arrested and is charged with one count of assault in the third degree and three counts of assault in the fourth degree, all involving domestic violence. Johnson was taken to the Mt. Village jail pending transfer to YKCC for remand.  Bail is set at $5000 cash plus a court approved third party custodian.  Alcohol was a factor.

    On 12/6/17 at approximately 0330 hours, St. Mary’s Troopers were in Mt. Village for an unrelated incident when a vehicle theft in progress was reported.  The initial report was two men were seen starting up and driving off on a four-wheeler they did not own.  The owner jumped on a snow machine and was able to catch up to the four-wheeler knocking the passenger off by kicking him.  The passenger jumped back on the four-wheeler and they fled Mt. Village.  AST was able to follow the tracks in the snow approximately 18 miles leading them to the village of Pitka’s Point.  AST located the stolen four-wheeler after it was abandoned near the sewage lagoon in Pitka’s Point.  AST was able to track the suspects to a residence approximately a half mile away.  Inside the residence AST located Steven Anthony Deveroux-age 29 of Anchorage, and S.M.-age 16 of Pitka’s point.  Evidence was gathered to show Deveroux and S.M. had taken the four-wheeler.  Further investigation showed Deveraux was in possession of a loaded handgun.  A records check revealed Deveroux is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms.  Deveroux was arrested and charged with one count of misconduct involving weapons in the third degree and one count of vehicle theft in the second degree.  Deveroux was arrested and taken to the St. Mary’s jail pending transfer to YKCC for remand.  Deveroux’s bail was set at $1000 cash or a court approved third party custodian.  S.M. was released to his parents and charges will be forwarded to Juvenile Justice for prosecution.  Alcohol was a factor.

    On December 6, 2017, while involved in an unrelated investigation in Pitka’s Point, AST learned Previn Deveroux-age 31 of Anchorage, was at a nearby residence in Pitka’s point and believed to have an outstanding arrest warrant.  A records check revealed Deveroux had an active $20,000 warrant for failure to comply with conditions of probation. Deveroux was subsequently arrested for the warrant.  During the arrest Deveroux was found in possession of several suringes which field tested positive for trace amounts of heroin.  Additional charges for failing to obtain travel permit while on probation and for possession of heroin will be forwarded for review.  Deveroux was arrested and taken to the St. Mary’s jail pending transfer to YKCC for remand.

    On December 7, 2017 at 1130 hours Village Police Officer in Kobuk and Shungnak-based Village Public Safety Officer contacted Charlie Custer, a 24 year old male of Shungnak, in Kobuk. Charlie was arrested pursuant to an outstanding arrest warrant; original charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, and Assault in the Fourth Degree all domestic violence related. Charlie was transported by the Alaska State Troopers to the Kotzebue Regional Jail where he was remanded on his warrant.

    On December 3, 2017, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks were notified of a stolen vehicle by its owner.  Investigation resulted in the arrest of Kurtis-Anthony Martin on December 6, 2017.  He was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center for Vehicle Theft in the First Degree, Promoting Contraband, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance, and Violating his Conditions of Release in an unrelated case.

    On 12/6/17, at 2056 hrs, State Troopers stopped a 2017 Toyota Prius for activating and leaving on their high beams to oncoming traffic.  The driver was identified as Vladimir Malyk, 17 of Delta Jct.  Investigation found Malyk did not posses a valid operators license or proof of insurance.  He was issued a summons to appear in court for Driving without a Valid License and issued a citation for Failure to Show Proof of Insurance.  He, and the vehicle, were released to his mother.
