    Dispatch Text:

    On 3/13/2019 at 1409 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers arrested 67 year old Gregg Parsley of Naukati Bay on an outstanding no bail arrest warrant for the original charge of Violating conditions of release and Violation of a Domestic Violence Protection Order. Parsley was remanded at the Craig Jail pending arraignment.

    Location: Haines
    Type: SAR/Avalanche Fatality

    Dispatch Text:

    On 3/13/2019, at 1247 hours, the Haines Borough Police Department (HBPD) personnel reported to Juneau based Alaska State Troopers that they received a report of snowboarder David Dzenawagis, age 34 of Haines, had been buried in an avalanche in the area of Takshanuk Mountain (trail head is located at 7 mile Lutak Road).  The two other skiers with him at the time Ted Cheney, age 36, and Theodore Hart, age 33, both of Haines, were able to extract him from the snow within 7-8 minutes and attempted resuscitative efforts.  Haines Fire Department EMS personnel responded in a helicopter to the scene and pronounced Dzenawagis deceased and transported him to the HBPD morgue.  Dzenawagis’ body will be sent to Anchorage for an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.  The Haines based Alaska Wildlife Trooper assisted in the investigation.  Next of kin was notified.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 3/12/2019 at approximately 2100 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a welfare check on an individual at a residence on Anna Lake Way in Big Lake. Investigation revealed the individual was deceased. Next of kin has not been notified. No foul play is suspected.

    Type: DUI

    Dispatch Text:

    On 3/10/2019, at approximately 2202 hours, Dispatch in Wasilla received a REDDI report on a white GMC Yukon bearing AK plate JND596. AST contacted the vehicle at the Tesoro on Seward Meridian. Investigation revealed Davida Baumgartner was driving under the influence of a controlled substance. She was remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial and later released on her own recognizance.

    Type: Search and Rescue

    On 3/12/2019, approximately 1730 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a missing person in the Willow area.  Investigation revealed 74 year old Donald Brainard of Willow had become lost while biking along the Susitna River near Deshka Landing, Willow.  Members of MATSAR, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, and Alaska State Troopers responded and conducted search efforts on snow machine.  Approximately 2250 hours Donald was returned home safely by a local resident who had located him approximately 20 miles north of Deshka Landing on the Susitna River.  Donald required no medical treatment.

    On 03/12/2019 at approximately 1509 hours, AST responded to 6765 S. Settlers Bay Rd, Wasilla, to the report of a disturbance. Investigation revealed 57 year old Vernita M. Polk assaulted a juvenile family member. Polk was arrested for Assault 4th (DV) and remanded to MatSu Pretrial Facility, where she was held without bail.

    On 3/6/19 Emmonak AST received a report of a burglary at the Kotlik School. A variety of items were stolen from the school. Suspects have been identified in this incident and charges will be sent to the Bethel District Attorney's Office.

    Type: DUI / Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test / Promoting Contraband 1 /MICS 4

    Dispatch Text:

    On 03-13-19 at approximately 0423 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks contacted Stanford Edwin, age 56 of Fairbanks, driving a 1999 Buick Century on Holmes Road in North Pole when he stopped his vehicle at an unrelated traffic stop. Investigation revealed Edwin was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Edwin subsequently refused to submit to chemical testing and introduced a controlled substance into Fairbanks Correctional Center. Edwin was remanded to FCC on one count each of DUI, Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test, Promoting Contraband 1st Degree, and MICS 4th Degree.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 3/13/2019 at approximately 0117 hours, Soldotna based Troopers responded to a domestic disturbance in Soldotna. Following an investigation Laura Hinz, 31, of Soldotna, was arrested for; Assault 4, Criminal Mischief, Assault 4, and disorderly conduct. Laura was transported to Wildwood Pretrial facility.

    On 3/12/2019 at approximately 2000 hours, Soldotna based Troopers were in Sterling conducting follow up on a complaint of shoplifting from 3/10/2019. Following an investigation Sofia Costales, 35, of Sterling, was charged with Theft in the 4th Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 5th Degree.

    On 3/12/19 at approximately 2030 hours, Soldotna AST arrested Aaron Williams, age 24 of Soldotna, on an outstanding arrest warrant when he was contacted during an unrelated investigation.  Williams was taken in to custody without incident and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility where he was held in lieu of $2500 bail.  The arrest warrant was for failing to appear on an original charge of Vehicle Theft 1.

    On 3/13/19 at 1329 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on an SUV at the Kasilof gas station. Upon contact with the driver, identified as Brianna Marie Kitchen, age 28 of Kasilof, she was arrested on two outstanding warrants for Theft 4th degree and Assault 4th degree. Kitchen was transported and remanded at Wildwood pretrial with a $750 bail.

    Location: Moose Pass
    Type: Motor Vehicle Collision- Fatality

    Dispatch Text:

    On 3-13-19 at 1443 hours Seward AST responded to a single vehicle collision involving a semi truck near mile 33 Seward Highway, near Moose Pass.  Investigation revealed that Marc Roderick (46 YOA of Anchor Point) was driving his 2007 Kenworth northbound on the highway pulling a trailer with an excavator on it.  The vehicle left the snowy roadway and struck a rock wall.  The excavator came forward and crushed the cab of the truck.  Roderick was pronounced deceased on scene.  Investigation into the cause of the crash in continuing.  Next of kin was notified.

    Type: Unlawful Storage of commercial Crab Gear

    Dispatch Text:

    On 3/12/19, Clifford N. MacDonald, age 65 of Petersburg was cited by Wildlife Troopers in Juneau for the unlawful storage of commercial Dungeness crab pots. The crab gear was located in the area of Seymour Canal and had been in the water since the end of the fall fishing season on November 30, 2018. MacDonald was given an arraignment date of 4/11/19 in the Juneau District Court.
