AK17016939Location: PalmerType: MVC-Injury w/Wildlife
On 3/14/2017, approximately 2040 hours, Alaska State Troopers investigated a single vehicle injury collision near mile 53 N Glenn Highway, Palmer. Investigation revealed 58 year old John W Ely of Sutton was driving northbound in his green 2000 Dodge Neon when a moose entered the roadway in front of his vehicle. Ely was unable to avoid striking the moose, which was donated to a local charity. Ely reported wearing his safety belt at the time of the collision and sustained only minor injures.

AK17016439Location: WasillaType: Warrant Arrest
On 3/12/17 at 1847 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Daniel Poe age 27 of Wasilla at Boundary Drive and the Parks Hwy. Poe was arrested on his outstanding warrant for Misconduct Involving a weapon and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was held without bail.

AK17016459Location: WasillaType: Warrant Arrest
On 3/12/17 at 2135 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a disturbance on Pioneer Peak Drive Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Joshua Payton age 25 had an outstanding warrant for assault. Payton was arrested on his warrant and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was held without bail.

AK17016464Location: WasillaType: Warrant Arrest
On 3/12/17 at 2300 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to mile 48 of the Parks Hwy attempting to locate Christopher Novotny age 25 of Wasilla who had multiple outstanding warrants. Novotny was contacted and arrested on 5 warrants for assault 4 and 1 probation violation warrant. Novotny was remanded to mat-Su Pretrial where he was with out bail.

AK17016956Location: HoustonType: Warrant Arrest
On 3/15/2017, at approximately 0008 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Hawk Ln in Houston. Troopers contacted Vincent Kunayak, age 43, of Houston. Kunayak had an outstanding arrest warrant for $2500 for Probation Violation, for the original charges of Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest . Kunayak was remanded to MSPT.

On 3/15/2017, at approximately 0352 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Fairview Loop in Wasilla. Troopers contacted Lynwood Miller, age 22, of Wasilla. Miller had an outstanding arrest warrant for $50 for Failure to Appear, for the original charges of DWLR . Miller was remanded to MSPT.

AK17016955Location: KodiakType: MICS 5th Degree
On 03/14/2017 at approximately 2350 hours, Alaska State Troopers (AST) contacted a parked vehicle at Mill Bay Beach on Rezanof Drive. Investigation revealed the driver, a 17 year old male from Kodiak, was in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and an unopened bottle of vodka. AST issued the driver a summons for misconduct involving a controlled substance in the 5th degree, with an arraignment date of 3/24/2017 in Kodiak District Court.

AK17017168Location: FairbanksType: Assault III (DV)
On March 15, 2017 at approximately 8:02 pm, the Alaska State Troopers contacted Samuel Charlie, age 37 of North Pole, at his residence in North Pole. Investigation revealed Charlie had assaulted a family member. Charlie was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was held without bail for one count of Assault in the Third Degree.

AK17016942Location: FairbanksType: DUI
On March 14, 2017 at approximately 8:36 pm, the Alaska State Troopers contacted Penelope Gold, age 45 of Fairbanks, in her vehicle, stuck in the ditch, in Fairbanks. Gold was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Gold was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center.

AK17016854Location: KasilofType: Warrant Arrest
On 3/14/17 at approximately 1401 hours, Alaska State Troopers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle that was in the ditch in Kasilof. AST contacted Lindsey Porkorny, 30 of Wasilla and Patricia Pierce, 26 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed both Porkorny and Pierce had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Porkorny and Pierce were arrested and remanded to Wildwood Pre-Trial.

AK17015641Location: SitkaType: Use Sport Caught Fish As Bait
On 3-8-17, while conducting checks of shellfish gear in the Sitka area the Alaska Wildlife Troopers located two tanner crab pots which had been baited with Coho salmon fillets. Investigation revealed Ryan Refshaw, age 41, and David Gross, age 38, both of Sitka, were operating the pots and that the salmon fillets were sport caught fish from 2016. Refshaw and Gross were both issued summonses to appear in the District Court at Sitka for using sport caught fish as bait.

AK17001584Location: SitkaType: False Statement Sport Fish License
On 3/13/17, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post cited Mark Barnett, age 25 of Maryland, for making false statements as to length of residency on Alaska resident sport fishing licenses in 2015 and 2016. Investigation revealed Barnett did not qualify as an Alaska resident at the time of the application. Bail is set at $310 for each violation, in the District Court at Sitka.

AK17001704Location: CraigType: Fail to return hunt permit harvest report
On 3/15/17, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Prince of Wales Post, issued a citation to Thomas Ruckman ( 33 y/o) of Klawock for failing to return his permit hunt harvest record to Alaska Department of Fish and Game in the required time period. Bail was set at $110 with an optional appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court.
