AK17017407Location: SitkaType: Search and Rescue
On 03/16/2017, at about 2005 hours, the Alaska State Troopers (AST) received a report from Sitka Mountain Rescue (SMR) of a hiker who needed assistance at the Gavin Hill Shelter. Investigation revealed that the hiker, later identified as Travis Eby, age 33 of Pennsylvania had planned on spending the night at the Gavin Hill Shelter, but was not able to get inside of it because of the deep snow. Eby was also having medical issues and not adequately prepared to spend the night. A USCG helicopter from Air Station Sitka was launched to assist with the search and SMR sent a ground team up the Gavin Hill trail. On 03/17/2017 at about 0230 hours, the SMR ground team reached Eby, dug out the shelter and spent the night inside of it. The SMR ground team provided Eby with food and water and hiked out of the field this morning with Eby.

AK17017312Location: JuneauType: Warrant Arrest
On 3-16-17, at approximately 1307 hours, Alaska State Troopers arrested Jacob Ogilvie, age 35 , of Juneau on an outstanding arrest warrant for Extortion, Theft 2, and Vehicle Theft 1. Jacob was remanded to Lemon Creek Correctional Center where bail was set at $10000.00 cash only plus court approved third party.

AK17017412Location: KetchikanType: Assault 4th Degree DV
On 03/16/2017 at about 2057 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were contacted about a disturbance at a residence on Christopher Road. Investigation revealed that Michael Jessen, age 29, of Ketchikan physically assaulted a family member. Jessen was arrested for Assault in the 4th Degree DV and transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail. Further charges on Jessen are being forwarded to the District Attorneys Office.

AK17017398Location: KetchikanType: Warrant Arrest
On 03/16/2017 at about 1914 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on Buren Road and arrested Leon Gwin, age 37, of Ketchikan on an outstanding arrest warrant for Failure to Appear to Arraignment from the original charge of DWLS. Gwin was transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with bail set at $500.00.

AK17017348Location: PalmerType: Warrant Arrest x 5
On 3/16/17 at approximately 1547 hours, 32 year old Trapper Creek resident Sheyanne Strong turned herself in at the Palmer Trooper Post. Strong had an outstanding arrest warrant for Sexual Assault of a Minor in the 2nd Degree x 4 and Distribution of indecent Material to Minors. Strong was arrested and remanded to the Mat Su Pretrial facility. Bail was set as indicate on the warrant at $25,000 cash and Court Approved Third party.

AK17017635Location: WasillaType: Assault 4 DV, Interfere with DV Report
On 3/17/17 at approximately 2204 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported disturbance at a residence on Snowcrest Dr in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Lillian Mincher age 43 of Wasilla, recklessly caused physical injury to a family member and interfered with the reporting of a Domestic Violence incident. Mincher was arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was held without bail.

AK17010924Location: KodiakType: Possess female crab
On 3/16/17 Wayne Baker, dob 1/27/1956, of Kodiak was cited for possession of female opilio crab while making a delivery of commercially caught crab at St. Paul Island on 2/14/17. Arraignment is set in Unalaska District Court on 3/28/2017.

AK17013914Location: PalmerType: Distribution and Possession of Child Pornography, Evidence Tampering
On 03/20/17, after an extraditable warrant was issued by the Palmer District Attorney’s Office, Treyvon Johnson was contacted and arrested by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office at a residence in Lauderhill, Florida. Plans are underway for his extradition back to Alaska. Investigation continues.
On 03/16/17, Treyvon Johnson, 30 yoa of Palmer, was indicted on 10 counts of distribution of child pornography, 10 counts of possession of child pornography, and 1 count of evidence tampering. A warrant was issued in the amount of $50,000 plus court approved third party custodian. The indictment stems from an ongoing investigation which started on 01/22/17.
