    Type: Shooting incident

    Dispatch Text:

    Update: Joshua Kelsey, age 29, of Wasilla was pronounced deceased by medics on scene. Investigation determined Christopher Lorentsen, age 31, of Wasilla, was initially involved in a verbal argument with Joshua Kelsey, at a residence in Wasilla when shots were fired striking Kelsey and an adult female. The female was transported to a local hospital where she is being treated for a gunshot wound to her leg. Lorentsen was taken into custody and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he is being held without bail pending arraignment on charges of Murder, Attempted Murder, Assault 1, Assault 3 x2. Next of Kin for Joshua Kelsey has been notified.

    On 3/26/2019 at approximately 1709 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of gunshots in a Wasilla subdivision. AST responded and located one person deceased and another person injured outside of a residence. EMS was called.  Troopers were able to contact all involved parties. Investigation and next of kin notification is on going. Updates to follow.

    On 03/26/2019, at approximately 1935 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the vicinity of Stacy St. and Suzanna St. for a report of a suspicious vehicle.  A vehicle was located nearby that vicinity.  Investigation revealed that a passenger in the vehicle, Nancy Murphy, age 49 of Wasilla, had two outstanding warrants for her arrest.  Murphy was transported to the MATSU Pre-Trial Facility where she was remanded on bail of $500.00 cash/corporate and $50.00 cash.

    Update: On 3/28/2019 at approximately 1105, volunteer searchers from Quinhagak recovered the body of Timothy Beebe from the Kanektok River in shallow water after the tide had gone out. On 3/27/2019 searchers dragging a net by boat found Beebe’s submerged snowmachine in the Kanektok River just outside of Quinhagak. Beebe’s body was located approximately half mile from where the snowmaching was located. The State Medical Examiner has been notified and has requested Beebe’s body be sent to Anchorage. Next of Kin has been notified.

    On 3/24/2019 at approximately 1210 P.M., Alaska State Troopers were notified of an overdue snow machiner identified as Timothy Beebe (48 YOA) of Quinhagak.  Timothy was reported to have left Eek at approximately 7 P.M. traveling to the village of Quinhagak, on a blue Polaris snow machine. An extensive Blackhawk air search by the Bethel National Guard and AST along with ground searchers have failed to locate Beebe. Anyone with information is requested to contact AST at (907) 543-2294.

    On 03/26/2019 at 1746 hours the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report of a disturbance on Fairbanks Street.  Investigation determined Mark Atwood, age 61 from Fairbanks threatened a family member with a knife placing them in fear of imminent physical injury.  Atwood was arrested for Assault 3rd (DV) and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was held without bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 03/26/2019 at 2121 hours the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report of a male on a longboard wielding a sword on the Old Steese Highway heading towards Farmers Loop.  The male, later identified as Derek Harris, age 26 from Fairbanks jumped in the back of a vehicle and rode in the back of the truck to the gas station at the intersection of Farmers Loop and the Steese Highway.  Harris placed the driver in fear of imminent physical injury with a deadly instrument when he threatened the driver with the sword.  Harris was arrested for Assault 3rd.  Alcohol was a factor.

    On 3/26/19, at approximately 1400 hours, Fairbanks AST responded to a report of a domestic assault off of Goldstream Rd. Investigation revealed that Ella Harper, age 62 of Fairbanks, assaulted a family member. Ella was placed under arrest and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center without bail.

    On 3/23/19, at 1630 hours, Lasha Whitmore age 41 of Nenana reported a family disturbance at a residence.  The Nenana VPSO and a Parks Hwy Trooper conducted an investigation into this complaint.  The investigation revealed Whitmore had commit the crime of Criminal Trespass in the First Degree DV.  Whitmore was arrested and transported to FCC where she was remanded on no bail till arraignment was held.

    On 3/23/19, at 1847 hours, a Parks Hwy Trooper contacted James Noble age 28 of Nenana for an arrest warrant issued by the Fairbanks Court.   The warrant was issued for VCOR involving an unlawful contact incident.  Nobles was arrested without incident.  Nobles was transported to FCC by the Nenana VPSO and was remanded on a $500.00 dollar bail.

    On 3-26-19 at approximately 0954 hours, AST Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the Johansen Expressway on a vehicle for multiple violations. Troopers contacted the driver of the vehicle, Kerry Kruckenberg, age 38 of Fairbanks. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Kerry for felony DUI and tampering with an ignition interlock device. Kerry was remanded at FCC where he was held without bail pending arraignment.

    Type: Suspicious circumstance / Warrant arrest

    On 3/25/2019 at approximately 2227 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the area of Self Street in Sterling to investigate a suspicious circumstance and follow up on information on the whereabouts of Britney Hope Mackey, who has several outstanding warrants for her arrest.  Mackey was not located.  Daniel Joseph Dobson, age 34 of Sterling, was however contacted and arrested for an outstanding warrant relating to a Theft 4th offense.  He was remanded at Wildwood Pretrial Facility.  Bail was set at $50.  If anyone has information about Mackey's whereabouts, they can contact Alaska State Troopers at 262-4453 or Crimestoppers.  Callers can remain anonymous.

    Location: Mile 8.6 Seward Highway

    On March 25, 2019 at approximately 1117 hours, David Johannes (23 YOA of Anchorage) contacted AST to report he rolled his semi-truck near mile 8.6 of the Seward Highway.  Investigation revealed David was operating a red 2014 Peterbilt, towing two flatbed trailers, northbound on the Seward Highway.  The first trailer was loaded with wire mesh and the second trailer was loaded with a conex.  While attempting to negotiate an s-curve, the front trailer began tipping towards the northbound ditch.  The trailer was unable to recover and rolled, causing the rear trailer and the truck to roll with it.  The truck suffered substantial damage and blocked the northbound lane of the highway.  The trailers rolled into the northbound ditch of the highway.  David denied suffering any injuries.  David reported to be wearing his seat belt.  Webb’s Towing responded to remove the truck and trailers from the roadway.  Alcohol was not a factor.

    On 3-26-19 at 1500 hours the Alaska State Troopers stopped a Toyota sedan near mile 9 Funny River Road for an equipment violation.  The driver was identified as Robert Jackson (30 YOA of Anchorage), the passenger was identified as April Olson (40 YOA of Anchorage).  Investigation revealed Jackson was driving under the influence of drugs.  Both occupants were in possession of heroin.  Jackson was arrested and remanded to the Wildwood Pre Trial Facility on the charge of DUI and MICS IV.  Olson was issued a misdemeanor citation and released on scene.

    Type: False Statement regarding AK residency on license

    On 03/23/19, a Fairbanks-based Alaska Wildlife Trooper contacted Trevor Surgener, age 28 of Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Surgener made false statements regarding his AK residency on four separate instances within the prior year on different ADF&G licenses and permits. Surgener was issued citations for the violations with a total bail set in the Fairbanks District Court of $1250.

    On 3/19/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post, contacted Mark Edward Hilberg, age 59 of Washington.  Investigation revealed Hilberg made false statements as to length of residency on 2016 and 2018 sport licenses.  Hilberg was cited for two counts of false statement with total bail set at $620 in the District Court at Sitka.

    On 3/19/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post, contacted Solomon Guthrie, age 29 of Idaho.  Investigation revealed Guthrie made a false statement as to length of residency on a and 2016 sport license.  Guthrie was cited for false statement with bail set at $310 in the District Court at Sitka.

    On 3-26-2019 at 1443 hours Troopers received a report that David Markle 48, of Ketchikan was at the SEARHC Hospital in Sitka with an active warrant for an original charge of Assault in the 3rd degree. Markle was arrested and remanded to Sitka Jail. Bail set at $5000.
