AK17023918Location: KetchikanType: Failure to Stop at Direction of Peace Officer 1st Degree, DUI, Reckless Endangerment
On 04/14/2017 at about 2232 hours , AST received a REDDI report of a motorcycle driving recklessly at a high rate of speed with no headlight at mile 13 of the North Tongass Highway. AST located the motorcycle at mile 12 of the North Tongass Highway and attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the motorcycle. The driver Joel Sharp-Ably, age 30, of Ketchikan Failed to stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer and reached speeds of 90+ MPH before the motorcycle's rear tire went flat and the motorcycle then pulled over. Further investigation revealed that Sharp- Ably was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of Alcohol. Sharp-Ably was arrested for Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer, DUI, and Reckless Endangerment. Sharp-Ably was transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail.

AK17023914Location: PalmerType: Failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer and Vehicle theft in the first degree
On 04/14/17, at approximately 2106 hours, Palmer AST attempted to stop a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe at the intersection of the Parks Highway and Hyer Road for speeding. The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle lost control near the intersection of Seward Meridian Parkway and Seldon Road. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Chance Bybee, age 19, of Anchorage, fled the scene on foot and was later apprehended hiding inside a vehicle in the area. Investigation revealed the vehicle was reported stolen to APD on 03/27/17. Bybee was arrested for failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer and vehicle theft in the first degree. He was transported to MATSU Pretrial where his bail was set at $1000.00 cash only and a CATP. Investigation continues.

AK17023934Location: TalkeetnaType: Assault 4
On 4/14/17 at approximately 2356 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance on Bowers Sox in Talkeetna. Troopers responded and investigation revealed John Tkaczyk, age 38 of Talkeetna assaulted an individual at the residence. He was arrested, transported and remanded to MSPT where his bail was set at no bail.

AK17024026Location: TalkeetnaType: Aircraft Accident
On 04-15-17 at 1610 hours, AST was informed of an Aircraft accident near mile post 89 of the Parks Highway. A 1962 Cessna 182E tail # N9362X was piloted by Ronald Scott Hernandez (51) of King Salmon Alaska. No other occupants. Hernandez attempted to make an emergency landing on the Parks highway and struck power lines crossing the roadway. The aircraft came to rest on the west side of the Parks Highway vertical on its nose. Hernandez suffered minor injuries. NTSB has been notified.

AK17023942Location: FairbanksType: DUI
On April 15, 2017 at 3:34 AM, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after it ran up on the sidewalk when making a turn. Troopers contacted the driver and identified her as 25 year old North Pole resident Rachel Guildner. Rachel was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Rachel was transported to Fairbanks Correctional Center where she was remanded on $1500.00 bail.

AK17023899Location: FairbanksType: Warrant Arrest
On April 14, 2017 at approximately 7:50pm, Alaska State Troopers contacted Michael Hugo, 31 years old of Anaktuvuk Pass, in Fairbanks and arrested him on active misdemeanor arrest warrant 2BA-12-00212 Petition to Revoke Probation in relation to a previous terroristic threatening charge. Hugo was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center on the warrant.

AK17023620Location: FairbanksType: Unlawful Contact 1/VCOR
On April 14, 2017 at approximately 10:30 pm, the Alaska State Troopers contacted Terry Suiter, age 53 of Fairbanks, at a residence in Fairbanks. Suiter was subsequently found to be in contact with someone in violation of his conditions of release. Suiter was arrested and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center for one count of Unlawful Contact in the First Degree and VCOR. Suiter was held without bail.

AK17023823Location: Turnagain PassType: Warrant Arrest
On 04/14/17 at 1451 hours, Alaska State Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol arrested Jose Martinez Jr.(age 24 of Anchorage, AK) on a $50 Anchorage Police Department warrant for contempt of court for failure to comply with conditions of probation on an original charge of operating under the influence. Martinez was operating a motor vehicle and stopped for an equipment violation near mile 62 of the Seward Highway. A records check confirmed the warrant. Martinez was issued a citation for the moving violation. Martinez was then transported and remanded to the Anchorage Correctional Complex for the warrant. The vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.

AK17023995Location: SoldotnaType: DWLR
On April 15th, 2017 at approximately 1251 hours, the Alaska State Troopers traffic stopped a red 1995 Dodge Dakota for an equipment violation near W. Poppy Lane, Soldotna. Investigation revealed Michael L. Franklin, age 57 of Soldotna, was operating the vehicle while his driver's license was revoked. Franklin was issued a misdemeanor citation and released from the scene. The vehicle was released to a responsible party.
