    Location: Prince of Wales
    Type: Driving CMV with Canceled CDL

    Dispatch Text:

    On April 2, 2019 at about 11:50 AM, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island conducted a traffic stop on a logging truck for speeding.  The driver was identified as 70 year old Oregon resident Michael Andrus.  Investigation revealed Andrus was driving a commercial motor vehicle and his commercial driver's license was canceled.  Andrus was issued a misdemeanor citation for Driving a Commercial Vehicle with a Canceled Commercial Driver's License.  Andrus was issued a speeding citation as well.

    On 4/2/2019, at 0803 hours, AST responded to a two vehicle collision near mile 10 of Knik Goose Bay Road.  Investigation shows a 2007 Ford Focus driven by Payton L. Petersen, 20 yoa of Wasilla, was outbound on KGB road at a high rate of speed when the vehicle lost control, skidded into oncoming traffic and was struck by an oncoming 2006 Chevy Pickup driven by Michael Moritz, 52 yoa of Wasilla.  Petersen was not wearing her seatbelt and died on scene as a result of injuries sustained.  Moritz was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for evaluation minor injuries. Next of kin for Petersen has been notified. KGB Road was temporarily closed at mile 10 due to this incident.

    Type: Theft From Vehicle

    On 4-2-19 at 0939 hours, Alaska State Trooper dispatch received a report of a theft from a vehicle that was broken into yesterday while parked at Reflection Lake near mile 31 of the Glenn Hwy. Investigation shows a window to the vehicle was smashed and a gym back removed containing approximately $100 worth of items. There are no suspects or leads at this time. The public is encouraged to lock vehicles and conceal items of value when not attended. Anyone with tips or leads for this crime are encouraged to contact Trooper dispatch at 352-5401.

    Type: Theft From Vehicles

    Dispatch Text:

    On 04-02-19 at 0821 hours, Alaska State Trooper dispatch received a report of a theft from a vehicle on South Frontier Drive in Palmer. Troopers responded to investigate. Investigation reveals that multiple vehicles along the street had been gone through between 0130 and 0330 hours. Private security cameras in the area show the suspect(s) checked multiple vehicle door handles looking for vehicles that were unlocked. Various items of value were taken from multiple vehicles. The public is encouraged to lock vehicles and conceal items of value when not attended. The investigation is ongoing at this time. Anyone with tips or leads for this crime are encouraged to contact Trooper dispatch at 352-5401.

    On 4/2/2019 at approximately 1415 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately (REDDI) report of an intoxicated male leaving Knik Kountry Liquor on Knik Goose Bay Road. Investigation revealed the driver Jerry B. Lewis, age 68, of Wasilla was intoxicated. Lewis was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial with bail set at $500.

    Type: Assault 4th Degree, DV

    Dispatch Text:

    On 4/1/19 at about 2122 hours, the Emmonak VPSO responded to a disturbance in Emmonak. An investigation revealed that Michael Aketachunak (age 32) of Emmonak had assaulted a family member. Aketachunak was arrested for Assault in the 4th Degree and lodged at the Emmonak P.D. Alcohol was a factor.

    Location: Fairbanks
    Type: Industrial Accident/ Fatality

    Dispatch Text:

    On 3/31/2019, Alaska State Troopers received a report that individuals hiking on the Rampart winter road located a male, later identified as Robert Appleford, age 65 of Fairbanks, with severe injuries.  Life saving measures were attempted without success. AST from Fairbanks responded via Helo 2 and began a death investigation. Investigation revealed that Appleford was towing a large housing unit to a mining claim with a D5 dozer when he lost traction. He exited the dozer and attempted to unpin the skid trailer from its hitch when the dozer rolled backwards causing fatal injuries. Appleford’s body has been transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office. Next of kin has been notified.

E Detachment

    Location: Anchor Point
    Type: SAM 2nd, SAM 3rd

    Dispatch Text:

    On 3/6/19 at 1200 hours, Troopers in Anchor Point received a report that a 14 year old female had sexual relations with a 22 year old male. The girls mother reported finding out about the relationship and confronting the girl who admitted to the sexual relationship.  The male was identified as Ethan Koch, 22 of Homer.  As a result of further interviews and investigation, Troopers identified a total of 3 females ages 14-15 that Koch had engaged in sexual relations with.  An arrest warrant was issued for Koch out of the Homer Court. Bail for the warrant was set at $10,000 and court approved third party.  On 4/1/19 Seward Troopers located Koch and arrested him on the outstanding warrant.  Koch was remanded into the Seward Jail on five counts of SAM 2nd and four counts of SAM 3rd.

    Type: Over limit non-pelagic rockfish

    On 3/30/2019, AWT issued citations to Agapito Bello, 65 of Ketchikan, Arthur Felarca, 60 of Ketchikan, and Roberto Lucar, 74 of Ketchikan, for taking an over limit of nonpelagic rockfish.  The individuals were contacted by AWT while they fished the marine waters south of Ketchikan.   Each citation has a set $140.00 bail.

    On 3/30/2019, AWT issued a citation to Andrew Cowan, 40 of Ketchikan, for failing to have the required biodegradable escape mechanism on his Dungeness crab pot. The violations has a set $120.00 fine.
