    Type: Death Investigation

    Dispatch Text:

    On 5/11/2018, Prince of Wales State Troopers responded to S. Thorne Bay for a reported death. Preliminary investigation revealed that 69 year old Frank Kriener of Thorne Bay had died of natural causes. Kriener's next of kin has been notified.

    Type: Burglary DV 1st, Theft 2nd

    Dispatch Text:

    On 05/12/2018 at approximately 1600 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to the area of Irish Setter Dr. in Wasilla for a requested welfare check. Investigation revealed an individual entered the victims residence and had stolen a generator and other items. The items were found and returned to the victim.

    On 05/12/18, at approximately 0151 hours, the Alaska State Troopers stopped on a disabled vehicle near the intersection of the Parks Hwy. and Vine Rd in Wasilla. Investigation revealed the driver, Robert Albright, age 38 of Wasilla, had a $500.00 misdemeanor arrest warrant for failing to appear on an original charge of Theft IV. He was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial.

    Type: Felony DUI/ Felony Refusal

    Dispatch Text:

    On 05/11/2018 at approximately 2314 hours, Wasilla AST conducted a traffic stop on a red 2004 Honda Accord at Kink Street and the Parks Highway for an Improper Lane Change. Investigation revealed the driver, Samuel Kaufman age 32 of Wasilla was driving the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation revealed Kaufman has been convicted two times of DUI in the preceding 10 years. Kaufman was placed under arrest for Felony DUI and Felony Refusal to Submit to a Chemical test. Kaufman was transported and arraigned at Mat-Su Pretrial where he is being held without bail.

    Type: Motor Vehicle Accident - Injury

    Dispatch Text:

    On 05/11/2018 at about 2155 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a single vehicle rollover at the intersection of Seldon Road and North Eureka Circle in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Kara Serrano, age 49, of Wasilla, was driving eastbound on Seldon Road when Serrano lost control of her 2006 Acura MDX resulting in the vehicle flipping over and coming to rest in a ditch. Serrano was transported by EMS for injuries sustained in the collision. Alcohol is suspected as contributing factor and the investigation is ongoing. Serrano was wearing her seat belt.

    On 5/12/2018 at approximately 0040 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a motor vehicle collision near mile 37 of the Glenn Highway.  Pedro A. De La Rosa III, age 28, of Palmer rear ended another motorist while both vehicles were traveling southbound.  Investigation revealed De La Rosa was driving under the influence.  De La Rosa was arrested for driving under the influence and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial.

    Type: Assault / criminal Mischief

    Dispatch Text:

    On 5/12/18 at approximately 1030 hours Troopers responded to a residence on Knik Goose Bay Rd. for a report of a disturbance.  Investigation revealed Jeremiah Hoover, age 37 of Wasilla had assaulted a family member and damaged property.  Hoover was arrested for assault in the 4th degree a crime of domestic violence as well as Criminal Mischief in the 5th degree.  Hoover was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility on no bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 5/12/18 at approximately 0615 hours Tara Grantland, age 36 of Wasilla, called and reported a male had come to her home on a bicycle, which had previously been stolen from them, dropped off the previously stolen bicycle and then stole a 2017 SSR125 pit bike and left the scene.  The bike was subsequently recovered down the street.

    On 05-12-18, at 1200 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted KAHLEB-COLTON JOHNSON, age 24, of Big Lake at the Big Lake Library in reference to a warrant out for his arrest.  KAHLEB was contacted and arrested without incident. KAHLEB was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was remanded on the warrant and held on $2000 cash bail for violating the terms of his probation on the original charges of MICS 4.

    Type: DV Assault 3, Tampering with Physical Evidence

    On May 12, 2018 at approximately 1808 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a domestic assault in the village of Ambler. AST responded to the village of Ambler. With the assistance of the Village Police Officer, AST arrested Abraham Cleveland, a 34 year old male of Ambler, for Assault 3 (knife) and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Abraham was transported to the Kotzebue Regional Jail pending arraignment. The family member sustained non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol was involved.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 5/11/18 at approximately 1258 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were notified about a person walking around the Village of Kotlik with a knife.  Initial investigation revealed that Rick Andrews 19 Y.O.A. of Kotlik was upset about something and made his way to the Kotlik School during school hours.  The principle of the school saw Andrews walking toward the entryway with a large knife in his hand.  The principal initiated a school lock-down just before Andrews made it to the front door.  Andrews began hitting the door trying to gain entry and then made verbal threats to the principal wanting to kill him and stab him.  At the same time of the lock-down troopers from Emmonak and Bethel boarded a state aircraft and were inbound to Kotlik, also the Principle notified the residents of Kotlik by VHF radio of the lock-down.

    Andrews became upset and began to walk around the building trying to gain access through a window or another door.  Two residents of Kotlik, one male and one female arrived on scene to help and both were stabbed in the chest and stomach area by Andrews.  One victim managed to get the knife away and threw it into a nearby pond.  Andrews fled the scene leaving the victims on the boardwalk.  Two other residents saw Andrews and apprehended him without further incident and held him until AST's arrival.  AST arrived on scene and made their way to the school and to the location of Andrews.  Andrews was arrested and the lock-down was lifted.  No other injuries were reported and all of the children were accounted for.

    The victims were taken to the Kotlik Clinic and then transported by LifeMed to YKHC in Bethel; both victims were in stable condition.  Andrews was also transported to YKCC in Bethel and arraigned today on two counts of assault in the second degree and one count of assault in the third degree.

    The knife that was used was located.  Alcohol was not a factor.

    On 05/12/2018 at about 1709 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a disturbance in Tok. AST contacted Sheldon Fox, 38YOA. Sheldon was ultimately arrested for Assault in the Fourth Degree (DV), Violating Conditions Of Release, and Unlawful Contact in the First Degree.

    Type: Employ Unlicensed Crewmember

    Dispatch Text:

    On 5/11/18 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post, cited William C. Grant, age  47, of Sitka for employ unlicensed crew members.  The citation stems from a NMFS contact where Grant was commercial IFQ fishing aboard the F/V Sailor, with two 15 year old crewmen who were not currently licensed in 2018. The juveniles were not cited.  Bail is set at $260 in the District Court at Sitka.

AK Bureau of Highway Patrol

    Dispatch Text:

    On 05/12/2018 at approximately 1720 hours, Alaska State Troopers along with Moose Pass EMS and Cooper Landing EMS responded to milepost 39 of the Seward Highway for a reported single vehicle collision. Investigation revealed that Colleen Emerson, age 74 of Kenai was traveling southbound on the Seward Highway when she fell asleep, struck the southbound guardrail and lost control of her red, 2014 Ford Explorer. Emerson’s vehicle rolled down the southbound embankment, causing disabling damage to her vehicle. Emerson’s and her passengers reported that they were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision. Cooper Landing EMS transported all involved parties to Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. Alcohol and Drugs are not believed to be a factor in the collision.
