AK17031254Location: HoustonType: Assault 3rd x 2; Criminal Trespass 1st; Criminal Mischief 5th; Disorderly Conduct
On 05/14/17 at 2105 hours, AST responded to a residence on W. Cheri Lakes Drive in Houston for the report of a disturbance involving a male threatening citizens with an axe. AST contacted Joseph Clark, age 33 of Wasilla, during the investigation. Clark was arrested for the original charges of Assault in the 3rd Degree x 2, Criminal Trespassing in the 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 5th Degree, and Disorderly Conduct. Clark was transported to the MSPT facility in Palmer where he was remanded into custody and held on $5,000 bail with a court approved third party condition.

AK17031284Location: WasillaType: Eluding I & Warrant Arrest
On 05/15/2017 at approximately 0123 hours, Troopers responded to a church on Seward Meridian Pkwy in Wasilla for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, a green 2002 Dodge Durango quickly exited the parking lot almost striking the Trooper’s vehicle. The vehicle ran a stop sign and failed to signal and Troopers attempted a traffic stop of the vehicle. The vehicle failed to yield to the Trooper for approximately 25 minutes while driving recklessly. Speeds during the pursuit were between 80 and 90 MPH. The vehicle came to a dead end on Lynn Road off of Fairview Loop. The driver, Robert Paulsberg age 53 of Houston, was arrested without incident. Further investigation revealed Paulsberg to have $4050 in warrants. Paulsberg was arrested and remanded to the custody of the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held on $2500 bail in addition to his warrants.

AK17031308Location: PalmerType: Death Investigation - Natural
On 5/15/17 at approximately 0745 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a death at a residence on Serrano Drive in Wasilla. On scene investigation revealed that Kerry Farnsworth (67), of Wasilla passed away at his residence. The State Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. No foul play is suspected. Next of kin was on scene.

AK17031414Location: FairbanksType: Warrant Arrest
On May 15, 2017 at 13:48 P. M, AST contacted Joseph Gray (age 28) of Fairbanks at the DMV. A check through APSIN revealed Gray to have an outstanding $100 misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on charges of NVOL. At 13:59 P.M, Gray was arrested on his warrant and remanded to FCC on $100 bail.

AK17031453Location: TokType: Warrant Arrest
On 5-15-17 at about 1514 horus, Alaska State Troopers contacted Raymond Venne, age 51 of Tok. Investigation revealed that Venne had an outstanding $500 Misdemeanor ANCH AST/JS warrant (Original charge - Alc Bev Trans By common Carrier Bail Cash/Corp). Venne was arrested without incident and transported to the Tok holding facility where he was lodged.

AK17031169Location: PalmerType: Death Investigation
UPDATE: As a result of the coordinated investigative efforts of Palmer ABI, SCIU and Crime Scene Technicians from the Scientific Crime Detection Laboratory, two suspects were developed for the shooting death of Jeremie Speaker, 26 of Anchorage. The suspects were identified as Robert Barker, 38 of Palmer, and Joed Weyand, 35 of Palmer. After conferring with the Palmer District Attorney’s Office, both Barker and Weyand were arrested on 5-16-17 at about 1545 hours inside a motel in downtown Palmer by ABI and the Palmer CSU. Each were charged with Murder in the 1st degree and remanded inside Mat-Su Pretrial, in Palmer, where they were both held in lieu of no bail.
UPDATE: The SME’s office positively identified the deceased as Jeremie Speaker, 26 of Anchorage. His next of kin have been notified. Speaker’s death is believed to be the result of a homicide. When troopers responded to the scene, the deceased was found in close proximity to two burned vehicles. Those vehicles have been impounded for investigative purposes to determine if and how they are connected to the deceased. Investigation by ABI is ongoing.
On 5/14/2017 at approximately 1401 hours, AST was notified that a deceased person was found near Mile 4.8 of Knik River Road. AST responded and found a deceased male. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene and took over the investigation. The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage for autopsy and positive identification. Investigation is ongoing.
