    UPDATE: The vehicle was recovered later in the evening. No reported damage or items stolen. The vehicle was turned over to its owner.

    On May 15, 2018, Alaska State Troopers (AST) received a report of a stolen vehicle from private property near 11 mile N. Tongass Highway.  The vehicle is a white colored, 2011 Ford F-150 bearing Alaska registration GGV558.  There is a dent behind the driver side door and a fuel tank in the bed of the truck.  

    AST is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact them at (907)225-5118.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 05/15/18 at 1440 hours, the Glennallen Alaska State Troopers (AST) responded to an intoxicated male walking in the roadway at mile 115 of the Richardson Highway. AST contacted Wyatt Lafromboise age 33 of Kenny Lake who is currently on conditions of release for a Felony DV case. Wyatt is not to consume alcohol. Wyatt was intoxicated and provided a breath sample indicting a high level of alcohol. Wyatt was arrested and transported to the Glennallen State Trooper post.

    Type: Death Investigation

    Dispatch Text:

    Update: The deceased has been identified as Lorin R. Ellsworth, 59 of Moses Lake, Washington. Next of kin has been notified.

    On 5/14/2018 at approximately 0911 hours, dispatch received a call requesting an ambulance respond to the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Central Landfill. Follow-up reports indicated that a man, a contractor baling scrap metal, was working at the landfill when he was reportedly crushed by machinery. The man was not able to be resuscitated and was declared deceased. The man’s body will be transported to the SME’s office in Anchorage for autopsy. No foul play is suspected. Efforts to notify next of kin are underway.

    On 5/14/2018, approximately 2230 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted 42 year old Christopher P. Gorup of Anchorage near mile 8 of S. Knik Goose Bay Road in Wasilla, following a reported suspicious male in the area.  Investigation revealed Gorup had one outstanding NO BAIL arrest warrant for a parole violation from an original charge of Felony DUI.  Gorup was arrested at the scene without incident and remanded to MSPT where he was held without bail.

    On 05/15/18, at approximately 0001 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Reliance Rd. in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Frank Floyd, age 30, of Wasilla, caused damage to property during a domestic dispute. He was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was remanded on a charge of Criminal Mischief IV (DV)

    Type: Warrant Arrest & Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in the 2nd Degree

    Dispatch Text:

    On 05/14/2018, at approximately 0741 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Hart Lake Estates, in Wasilla.   Investigation revealed one of the occupants, identified as Dennis M. Ivanoff, age 27, of Anchorage, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Failure to Comply with Conditions of Probation on the charge of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree.  Further investigation revealed Ivanoff was out of compliance with his requirement to register as a sex offender.  Ivanoff was arrested on the warrant as well as the new charge of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in the Second Degree.  Ivanoff was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded on a $2,000 bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 05/13/2018 at 1730 hours, AST dispatch received a 911 call from a male reporting a family member damaged his new vehicle by standing on the roof of the car.  Trooper responded to investigate.  Investigation shows a male household member to the complainant caused serious damage to the roof of the vehicle which was estimated around $3,500 worth of damage.  A charge of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree has been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office.

    Type: MICS 3rd Degree, MIW 2nd Degree

    Dispatch Text:

    On 05-15-2018 at  approximately 1420 hours, Aniak AST Troopers responded to a residence in Lower Kalskag to execute a search warrant for crimes committed by the use of a firearm.     During the investigation, Troopers located a marijuana grow, which included multiple marijuana plants and other drug paraphernalia which showed the intent to distribute.  Troopers also discovered a firearm.  Upon completion of the investigation, Raven Levi (26), of Lower Kalskag, was arrested for Misconducting involving a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (possession and intent to distribute) and Misconduct Involving Weapons in the Second Degree.  Raven Levi was transported and remanded at Bethel YKCC and held without bail.

    On May 15th, 2018 at approximately 1520 hours, the Alaska State Troopers (AST) received a report from Village Public Safety Officer (VPSO) Wagner, in New Stuyahok, regarding a domestic violence physical assault. Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Evan Chunak III, age 37 of New Stuyahok, for one count of Assault in the 3rd Degree. Chunak III was transported to the Dillingham Jail for remand.

    Type: Disorderly Conduct, Reckless Endangerment

    Dispatch Text:

    On 5/14/18 at about 1730 hours, Troopers arrested Derek Jokay-Szilagyi, 45 of Nikolaevsk, after receiving reports that Jokay-Szilagyi had impeded fire trucks from responding to a wild land fire.  An investigation showed Jokay-Szilagyi had laid down in the middle of the road and impeded a fire truck which was responding to a wild land fire which was threatening occupied residences in Nikolaevsk.  Jokay-Szilagyi was arrested and remanded into the Homer Jail.

    On 05/13/2018 at 0926, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence on Sprucegate Road in Anchor Point.  An investigation showed that sometime during the night the vehicle was taken but unknown persons.  The vehicle is a 2008 Ford Escape bearing Alaska license FLY100 belonging to Kayla Tennison, 38 of Anchor Point.

    On 05/11/2018 at 1056 hours, Troopers received a report of a burglary of a seasonal property on Tall Tree Ave.  An investigation showed sometime within the last month unknown persons(s) forced entry into the residence and damaged property.  The investigation is ongoing.

    On 05/11/2018 at 0948 hours, Troopers received a report of a vehicle which had been set on fire on Cottonwood Lane in Anchor Point.  An investigation showed the vehicle had been parked on Cottonwood Lane after it broke down several days earlier.  Sometime during the night the vehicle was set on fire.  The investigation is ongoing.

    Type: Theft, Warrant Arrest

    Dispatch Text:

    On 5/15/18 at approximately 0910 hours, AST received a report of a small grey vehicle on Robinson Loop Road that was pulling up to different mailboxes and the female driver was going through the mailboxes.   AST located the vehicle on the Sterling Highway and contacted the driver who was identified as Elizabeth Miller, 25 of Sterling.  Investigation revealed Miller had an active warrant for her arrest and after a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, she was found to be in possession of the stolen mail.  Miller was arrested and transported to Wildwood Pre-Trial and remanded on the warrant and also charged with theft of the mail.

    On 5-13-18 at 2217 hours, Alaska State Troopers were notified of a disturbance at a residence off Nash Road.  A male reported that Branden Ramoth, age 23 of Anchorage, was intoxicated and throwing things at him.  Seward AST responded and located Ramoth.  Investigation revealed that Ramoth assaulted two people in the residence and damaged property less than 250.00.  Ramoth was arrested for domestic violence assault 4 and criminal mischief 5.  He was transported to Seward Jail and remanded without bail.

    On 5/12/18 at approximately 1801 hours, the Soldotna Public Safety Communications Center received a report of an emergency beacon activation. A text message was received by the beacon stating "gun blew up, severed hand, bleeding badly". The location of the beacon activation was on Johnstone Lake. The injured person was identified as Kurt Stenehjem, age 67 of Anchorage. LifeMed Alaska was contacted and responded to the location in a helicopter and transported Stenehjem to Providence Alaska Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

    On 5/15/18 at 1520 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence off Carmichael Court in Sterling where Janae Ann Lafae, 58 of Sterling, was contacted and arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for Failure to Appear for a change of plea hearing (original charge of concealment of merchandise). Lafae was transported and remanded at Wildwood pretrial with a $250 bail.

    On 5/12/18 Kodiak AWT contacted Clint Frachiseur (age 43 / Kodiak) at the Buskin River. Investigation showed that Frachiseur had purchased a 2017 Alaska resident sport fishing license without having previously maintained his home in Alaska for 12 consecutive months.  Frachiseur was cited to the Kodiak Court with a bail $310.

    On 5/12/18 Kodiak AWT contacted August Ackerman-Meyer (age 24 / Kodiak) at the Buskin River. Ackerman-Meyer was fishing with two lines while only one line is permitted per person. Ackerman-Meyer was cited to the Kodiak Court with a bail of $110.

    On 1/1/18 Kodiak AWT initiated an investigation into the Alaska residency claims of Dale Cushman (age 28 / Santa Barbara, CA). Cushman had purchased multiple Alaska sport licenses and taken a moose, black bear, and brown bear as an Alaska resident. Investigation showed that Cushman had never maintained his domicile in Alaska for 12 consecutive months and had been absent from Alaska in a manner inconsistent with the intent to remain indefinitely and make a home here. Cushman was cited to the Kodiak Court for two counts of False Statement of Material Fact with a bail $310 for each count. Additionally, he was issued summonses to the Kodiak Court for take moose without appropriate nonresident tag, take Black Bear without appropriate nonresident tag, unaccompanied nonresident take Brown Bear, and three counts of unlawful possession and transportation of big game.

    On 05/07/2018 at 1229 hours Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Wrangell Post observed the F/V Lady Solvay (ADF&G 56788) operating commercial fishing gear without displaying the 12 inch registration numbers as required.  Arnold Bakke, age 63 from Wrangell was issued a $210 citation in the District Court of Wrangell for Failure to Display 12 inch numbers on a Commercial Fishing Vessel.

    On 5/13/18 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post, cited Dillon Zellhuber, age 24 of Sitka, for retaining a sport caught lingcod out of season.  Zellhuber was contacted returning to the Sitka road system with a lingcod in possession.  Sport lingcod season begins May 16 in the Southeast area.  Bail is set at $160 in the District Court at Sitka.

    On 04/21/2018 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Wrangell Post received a report about a campsite near Pat’s Lake belonging to Mark Hamley, age 40 from Wrangell.  Subsequent investigation revealed Hamley dumped trash around the campsite and did not clean it up as ordered.  On 05/14/2018 Hamley was issued a summons for Littering, >5lbs with a mandatory court date in the District Court at Wrangell.
