Alaska State Troopers Press Release of Tuesday, May 16, 2017

AK17031782Location: HoustonType: Robbery 1, Assault 3, Theft 3
On 05-16-2017 at approximately 1618 hours, Alaska State Troopers with the Criminal Suppression Unit responded to a report of a disturbance at a property on Lakeway Loop, Houston. The complainant located a male suspect attempting to steal items from his property. The complainant confronted the suspect and a struggle ensued, during which the complainant was struck with a wrench and injured. The suspect then fled the area on foot. At approximately 1827 hours, State Troopers located and arrested the suspect, identified as JT Thompson (age 25 of Houston), walking in the area of Cattail Drive, Big Lake. Thompson was remanded at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail on charges of Robbery 1, Assault 3, attempted Theft 3, as well as two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest for failure to comply with conditions of probation on the original charges of Vehicle Theft 1 and Theft 2.

AK17031515Location: Big LakeType: Burglary 1 / Theft 3
On 05/15/2017 at approximately 1741 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to an address on Apryl Lane in Big Lake for a report of a burglary. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) unlawfully entered the dwelling and stole approximately $300 in property. Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contacted Troopers at 352-5401 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

AK17031568Location: PalmerType: DUI; MIW4x2
On 05/15/17 at 2151 hours, AST performed a traffic stop on a blue 2010 Ford Flex for speeding on Trunk Road near College Drive in Palmer. The driver, Jesea Davis age 31 of Wasilla, was arrested for the original charges of DUI and Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 4th Degree. A passenger, Cory Steininger age 32 of Wasilla, was arrested for the original charge of Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 4th Degree. Both were transported to the MSPT facility in Palmer and remanded into custody where they were released O/R when sober.

AK17031593Location: GambellType: Assault 4, resisting arrest
On 5-16-17 at 0115 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report of intoxicated people creating a disturbance in Gambell. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Devron Okhtokiyuk-Whilden, 21 of Gambell, and Neil Oozevaseuk, 23 of Gambell. Okhtokiyuk-Whilden was arrested for assault 4 on a police officer. Oozevaseuk was arrested for assault 4 DV and resisting arrest.

AK17031719Location: TokType: Attempted Forgery 1st, Forgery 3rd, Attempted Theft 4th
On 5/16/2017 at approximately 1405 hours, AST responded to the Tok Mini Mart for a report of counterfeit money. An investigation revealed Alfred Frank Sam, 30 YOA from Northway, attempted to purchase alcohol using counterfeit money. Sam was arrested for Forgery 1st, Forgery 3rd, and Theft 4th.

AK17031785Location: TokType: Warrant Arrest
On 5/16/2017 at approximately 1653 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop on a gray SUV near the intersection of D Street and E Willow Avenue in Tok. The driver Sherry Lynn Dompierre, 24 YOA of Tok was arrested on a $20,000 arrest warrant. Dompierre was remanded into custody at the Tok jail.

AK17031531Location: Delta JunctionType: MVC-I
On 5/15/17, at approximately 1845 hours, AST received a report of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment at the intersection of Miltan Road and Jack Warren Road. The investigation showed Donavin Bass, age 18, of North Pole, was driving a 2002 GMC pickup when he failed to stop for a stop sign on Tanana Loop Extension at Jack Warren Road. Bass crossed the intersection and was struck by a 2000 Honda Acura driven by Angelica Budnik, age 17, of Delta Junction. The GMC was struck with enough force to roll it onto its side. Air bags deployed and it appears that all occupants were wearing their seatbelts. Only minor injuries were reported. Both vehicle sustained significant damage. Bass was issued a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign.

AK17031580Location: North PoleType: Assault 4 DV
On 5/16/17 at approximately 0025 hours Fairbanks AST received a report of a possible domestic disturbance, after the fact, on Cold Snap Ct, in North Pole. The investigation revealed Betsy Johnsen, age 30, of North Pole, had assaulted a male she was in a relationship with. Johnsen was placed under arrest for Assault 4 DV and transported to FCC where she was held without bail. Alcohol was a contributing factor.

AK17031597Location: Clam GulchType: DWLR/Warrant
On 5/16/17 at approximately 0417 hours, Soldotna AST performed a traffic stop on a 1988 red Chevrolet pickup for speeding. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Justin Post. Investigation revealed Post had an outstanding warrant for FTA for remand at Wildwood OC DWLR with 10 days to serve. It was also founded that Post's AKDL was still revoked. Post was arrested for his warrant and DWLR. Post was transported and remanded at Wildwood Pretrial.

AK17031763Location: SterlingType: Fail to stop for school bus
On 5-16-2017 at 1553 hours the Alaska State Troopers stopped a Ford van near mile 83 Sterling Highway after the van was observed to not stop for a school bus that was stopped with it's red lights flashing to unload students. The driver of the van was identified as Zaan Dejonge (26 YOA of Homer). Dejonge was issued a criminal citation for failure to stop for a schoolbus and released on scene.

Thai and Tuan was cited for failing to record their daily catch on their subsistence report prior to leaving the fishing site as required. Bail was set at $110.

AK17031502Location: JuneauType: Driving Under The influence
On 5/15/17, at approximately 1630 hours, the Juneau Police Department received a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) report about a 1992 green Ford Explorer driving recklessly in the area of the Driftwood Lodge. An Alaska Wildlife Trooper who was in the area of Douglas Harbor observed the vehicle continue to drive recklessly on Douglas Highway and later contacted the driver. Investigation revealed the driver, John Forchemer, age 34 of Juneau, was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Forchemer was arrested for DUI and transported to Lemon Creek Correctional Center where he was held without bail.

AK17031387Location: FairbanksType: Missing Persons
UPDATE: On 5/17/2017 at approximately 1847 hours, all three individuals were located upstream from Nordale boat launch by search and rescue personnel. All three were transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital to be checked out and treated for what are believed to be exposure-related issues. The Alaska State Troopers would like to thank all the search and rescue volunteers for their efforts in this incident.
UPDATE: Alaska State Troopers are requesting people that live in the area of Chena Hot Springs Road or the surrounding area to please check their properties for any signs of the missing individuals. Please be sure to check out buildings or any areas where a person could hide. Anyone with any possible information regarding the whereabouts of Mr. Eyre and his two children are requested to contact AST in Fairbanks immediately by dialing 451-5100.
On 5/15/2017 at approximately 1240 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report that Johnathon Eyre, 28 of Fairbanks, was missing along with his two young sons, Johnathon “LJ”, 7, and Jaxson, 4. Eyre and his sons were last known to be at their home, near mile 12 of Chena Hot Springs Road, on Saturday evening. Troopers responded to the home on 5/15/2017 but did not find any sign of them. On 5/16/2017, Alaska State Troopers again responded to the home. A search of the woods and the river is underway. If anyone has any information regarding their whereabouts, contact AST immediately at 451-5100.

AK17031169Location: PalmerType: Death Investigation
UPDATE: As a result of the coordinated investigative efforts of Palmer ABI, SCIU and Crime Scene Technicians from the Scientific Crime Detection Laboratory, two suspects were developed for the shooting death of Jeremie Speaker, 26 of Anchorage. The suspects were identified as Robert Barker, 38 of Palmer, and Joed Weyand, 35 of Palmer. After conferring with the Palmer District Attorney’s Office, both Barker and Weyand were arrested on 5-16-17 at about 1545 hours inside a motel in downtown Palmer by ABI and the Palmer CSU. Each were charged with Murder in the 1st degree and remanded inside Mat-Su Pretrial, in Palmer, where they were both held in lieu of no bail.
UPDATE: The SME’s office positively identified the deceased as Jeremie Speaker, 26 of Anchorage. His next of kin have been notified. Speaker’s death is believed to be the result of a homicide. When troopers responded to the scene, the deceased was found in close proximity to two burned vehicles. Those vehicles have been impounded for investigative purposes to determine if and how they are connected to the deceased. Investigation by ABI is ongoing.
On 5/14/2017 at approximately 1401 hours, AST was notified that a deceased person was found near Mile 4.8 of Knik River Road. AST responded and found a deceased male. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene and took over the investigation. The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage for autopsy and positive identification. Investigation is ongoing.

On 5/16/17 at approximately 1509 hours, Alaska State Troopers arrested Eldridge D. Bradley II (29) of Anchorage, on and outstanding AST warrant on the original charge of Theft 2, while in custody at the Anchorage Correctional Complex. Bail is set at $10,000, cash/corporate appearance with a third party and/or conditions of release.
