    Dispatch Text:

    On 6/8/18, at about 1345 hours, Juneau based Alaska State Troopers contacted 55 year old Frederick W. Damer at his Montana Creek Road residence.  Damer was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Misconduct Involving Weapons 3 and 4.  He was transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and remanded.

    Location: Klawock
    Type: Abandonment Unlawful

    Dispatch Text:

    On May 20, 2018, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island observed a vehicle abandoned on the Klawock-Hollis Rd and a warning was issued to the owner to have it removed.  On June 11, 2018, the vehicle still was there and Jodene Warren was issued a misdemeanor citation for Abandonment Unlawful.

    Location: Sitka
    Type: SAR / Aircraft Crash Fatal

    Dispatch Text:

    On 06/10/2018 at about 0100 hours, AST in Juneau was contacted by the USCG regarding an overdue aircraft with two people on board out of Sitka.  The aircraft, a piper PA-18 on floats, piloted by Stonie Huffman, age 45 of Sitka and the passenger James Ronge, age 66 of California, departed on 06/09/2018 at about 1915 hours and was enroute to Katlian Bay area for a sightseeing flight that was scheduled to return after about 20 minutes. The USCG was notified at 2327 hours that they did not return, and began searching shortly after.  On 06/10/2018 at about 2243 hours, the USCG located the missing aircraft partially submerged in a river in Katlian Bay. The pilot, Stonie Huffman and passenger James Ronge were both located deceased. Next of kin has been notified. The NTSB will be investigating the cause of the crash.

    UPDATE: On the evening of June 11, Klawock Search and Rescue along with USFS, were able to locate both hikers and get them to the USFS cabin on Black Bear lake where they spent the night.  On the morning of June 12, the USFS had arranged a plane to pick up the hikers but it was unable to land due to high winds.  Both Brooke and Charles were able to hike down the mountain along with the other employees from the USFS.

     

    On June 11, 2018 at about 10:50 AM, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island received a call reporting two hikers that were stranded near Black Bear Lake.  Brooke Kubby and Charles Cowley, both seasonal USFS workers, took a wrong turn while hiking in the mountains and became trapped due to weather conditions.  USCG was unable to fly due to weather conditions.  The USFS along with Klawock Search and Rescue has put together two teams to go up the mountain and get both hikers to a forest service cabin until a plane can land to get them on the morning of June 12.  Neither hiker is seriously injured but have been suffering exposure to the elements.

    On 6/10/18 at approximately 2350 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a disturbance on N Williwaw Way in Wasilla.  During the investigation Troopers contacted Nina Granger, age 55 of Wasilla.  Investigation revealed Granger had a warrant for her arrest for Failure to Remand on the original charge of DUI.  Granger was arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was remanded into custody with 3 days to serve.

    On 04/17/2018, Alaska State Trooper dispatch received a report of theft and trespassed on BRUMAGE DR.  in Wasilla. The complainant reported sometime over the evening hours had taking several items valued over $1250.  The video evidence at the scene is being analyzed and possible suspects are being identified.  The investigation is ongoing and the public is encouraged to contact Alaska State Troopers dispatch at 352-5401 or Crime Stoppers.

    Type: Death Investigation

    Dispatch Text:

    On 6/10/2018 at approximately 1118 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on N. Williwaw Way, in Wasilla to the report of an unresponsive male. Investigation revealed Joseph J. Gertzen, age 70, of Wasilla was pronounced deceased by EMS. The State Medical Examiner’s Office (SME) responded to the scene and released the remains to the family. No foul play suspected and the next of kin was on scene.

    Type: Vehicle Theft 1st Degree X2/ Theft 2nd Degree

    Dispatch Text:

    On 6-10-18 at 0547 hours, AST dispatch received a 911 call from a male reporting a vehicle theft that just occurred in the Knik River Public Use Area.  Troopers responded to investigate.  The male reported his 2004 Ford F-250 was taken by another unknown male that was hanging out with a larger group of friends that night in the Jim Creek area.  The suspect jumped in the vehicle and began driving it toward Sullivan Road at a high rate of speed on the trail causing damage to the truck.  The complainant attempted to follow the vehicle but was unsuccessful due to the speed.  Troopers were able to develop a suspect and located the vehicle around noon near the intersection of Bogle Bluff and Vecera Drive in Wasilla.  The suspect was later interviewed and acknowledged taking the truck.  Charges of Vehicle Theft 1st Degree X2/ Theft 2nd Degree are being forward to the District Attorney after additional follow up investigation was completed.

    On 06/11/18, at 1210 hours, Kayla Martin, AK9096921 called AST Dispatch in Wasilla to report a 2016 white 24 Foot enclosed trailer had been stolen from her Wasilla residence.   Investigation revealed the trailer to be taken between 0800 and 1200 hours.  Anyone with information is encouraged to AST Dispatch at 352-5401. Investigation is continuing.

    Type: Alcohol Importation to a Local Option Village

    Dispatch Text:

    On 6-9-18, Dillingham based Alaska State Trooper's contacted a 36 year old female, after receiving a report she was taking alcohol to a local option village.  AST contacted the female and seized three 750 ml bottles of alcohol.  The female was allowed to continue on her trip to the village.  AST will be requesting a summons from the Dillingham Court.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 6-7-2018, at approximately 1300 hours, Dillingham based Alaska State and Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded to Manokotak for a reported assault.  An investigation disclosed Jerilyn Moore, age 24 on Manokotak had assaulted two family members and was driving a 4 wheeler under the influence of alcohol.  Moore was arrested and transported to the Dillingham Correctional Center, where she was held without bail pending arraignment.  Alcohol is a factor in this incident.

    On 06-10-2018 at approximately 0501 hours, Aniak AST received a report of gunshots in a residence and an assault at the same residence in Anvik.  AST responded to Anvik to investigate the incident.  The investigation led to the arrest of Clayton Ticknor (22), of Anvik, for two counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 4th degree, 1 count of Assault in the 4th degree (Domestic Violence related), and 1 count of Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree.  Ticknor was transported to Bethel YKCC, where he was remanded and held without bail.

    On 06-08-2018 at approximately 1018 hours, Aniak AST received a report of an assault in Lower Kalskag.  Aniak AST responded and the investigation led to the arrest of Simone Williams (26), of Lower Kalskag, for the charge of Assault in the 4th degree (Domestic Violence related).  Subsequent investigation revealed Williams had an outstanding warrant for her arrest.  Williams was transported and remanded at Bethel YKCC and held without bail.

    On 06-08-2018 at approximately 1520 hours, AST contacted Allen Hunter (60), of Scammon Bay.  During the contact with Hunter, information was received that he had an outstanding arrest warrant.  Hunter was arrested and transported to Bethel YKCC where he was remanded and held without bail.

    On 6-11-18 at 1404 hours, AST was notified of a domestic disturbance in Mountain Village.   Investigation revealed Willie Beans, age 21, physically assaulted a 17 year-old female resident of his household.  Beans was arrested and charged with one count of Assault in the Fourth Degree involving Domestic Violence.  Beans was transported to YKCC in Bethel for Remand Pending arraignment.

    On 06-11-18 at approximately 0047 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report of a REDDI leaving scene of a collision at the Gold Star Liquor in Fairbanks where . AST located the vehicle at a residence on Tibor Street in Fairbanks and contacted the driver, Tina Geffe age 47 of Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Geffe was operating her vehicle while impaired by alcohol at the time of the collision. Geffe was arrested and remanded to FCC on charges relating to DUI, Fail to give immediate notice of collision, and leaving the scene of a collision.

Investigation revealed Mary Brairton, 28 of Fairbanks, assaulted her boyfriend. Brairton was arrested for Assault in the Fourth Degree (DV) and transported to FCC for remand.

    On 6/10/2018 at approximately 2355 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Danny Earl Matson age 37 of Kasilof at a residence off of Crooked Creek Road.  Matson had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for several felony assault charges.  He was arrested for the warrant and remanded at Wildwood Pretrial Facility.  Bail was set at $10000.

    On June 11, 2018 at approximately 1330 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report from Spring Creek Correctional Center that inmate James Blair, 34 YOA of Anchorage, exposed his genitals to a staff member.  Investigation revealed James committed the crime of Indecent Exposure in the Second Degree.  One charge of Indecent Exposure in the Second Degree is being forwarded to the Kenai District Attorney’s.

    On 6-11-18 at 1147 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to a domestic disturbance at a Soldotna residence.  Investigation revealed Sable Wheeler (27 YOA of Soldotna) assaulted a family member by pointing a firearm at them during an argument.  Wheeler was arrested and remanded to the Wildwood Pre Trial Facility where she was held without bail.

Investigation revealed Bales did not have a sport fish license on her possession. Bales was issued a citation for Sport Fish without License in Possession. Bail was set at $210 with the Naknek District Court

    On 6-11-18 Alaska Wildlife Troopers In King Salmon contacted Jacob Kopec, age 27 , of Sparta MI guiding sport fishing clients on the Naknek River. Investigation revealed Kopec was operating a vessel with a 9 year old client on board who was not wearing a PFD as required. Kopec was issued a citation for PFD Required for less than 13 years old. Bail was set at $110 with the Naknek District Court.

    On 06/09/18 at 1140 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Cantwell Post, issued a summons to Registered Big game guide and outfitter Paul Francis Malone, 54 yoa of Dillingham, on the Tanana River near Nenana in Game Management Unit 20. Troopers contacted Malone at his guide camp on the Tanana River with two clients on 06/02/18 while on a skiff patrol of the Tanana River. An investigation by Troopers revealed Malone allowed a client to harvest a black bear on 06/02/18 at 0118 hours at an illegal unregistered bear bait site located on the Tanana River in GMU20B which was also outside of his registered guide use area of GMU20C. Arraignment is scheduled in the Nenana District Court on 06/18/18 at 1430 hours. Malone faces charges of Guide-Fail To Report Violation, Guide - Hunt Outside Approved Area, Guide - Aid in Commission of Violation, Unlawful To Establish Black Bear Bait Station Without First Obtaining A Permit and Unlawful To Establish Black Bear Bait Station Without First Obtaining A Permit.

    On 6-11-18, Mitchell Kramer 19 YOA of Valdez, was issued a citation by the Valdez Wildlife Trooper for failing to obtain Game Management Unit 6D black bear registration permit prior to harvesting a black bear.  Arraignment scheduled in the Valdez Court on 6-24-18.
