    Dispatch Text:

    UPDATE: On the evening of June 11, Klawock Search and Rescue along with USFS, were able to locate both hikers and get them to the USFS cabin on Black Bear lake where they spent the night.  On the morning of June 12, the USFS had arranged a plane to pick up the hikers but it was unable to land due to high winds.  Both Brooke and Charles were able to hike down the mountain along with the other employees from the USFS.

     

    On June 11, 2018 at about 10:50 AM, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island received a call reporting two hikers that were stranded near Black Bear Lake.  Brooke Kubby and Charles Cowley, both seasonal USFS workers, took a wrong turn while hiking in the mountains and became trapped due to weather conditions.  USCG was unable to fly due to weather conditions.  The USFS along with Klawock Search and Rescue has put together two teams to go up the mountain and get both hikers to a forest service cabin until a plane can land to get them on the morning of June 12.  Neither hiker is seriously injured but have been suffering exposure to the elements.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 6/11/2018 at approximately 1635 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a capsized boat on Lake Creek near Skwentna.  The boat owner, Brian Rhodes, 54 of Texas, and Rhodes, David Lopez, 54, and Neeran Pothak, 41 were in reportedly in good health.  At the time of the report there were no injuries, however, one of them has a medical condition that requires medication.  The occupants were able to get to a sandbar but the water was reported to be too dangerous to get to the shoreline.  The boat with their provisions was stuck in a sweeper and unable to be retrieved.  Helo 3 was launched and was able to recover all three boaters. The boaters were drop off in Willow.

    Type: Fail to stop 1st degree, Reckless driving, DUI

    On 06-12-18, at 0518 hours, AST located a REDDI vehicle on Trunk Rd at College Dr.  Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, identified as a 2017 Kia Soul, on Cottrell Campus Dr at Duchess Dr for multiple moving violations.  After the trooper exited his patrol car the Kia took off at a high rate of speed.  The Kia eluded troopers around the loop of Cottrell Campus Dr and Duchess Dr prior to crashing into the tree line.  After the Kia crashed the driver, identified as Nancy A King, age 30, of Bethel, fled on foot into woods.  During a search of the area, Nancy emerged from the woods and was taken into custody without further incident.  Nancy was arrested for failing to stop at the directions of a peace officer in the 1st and reckless driving.  Further investigation revealed Nancy was intoxicated and under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.  Nancy was remanded into Mat-Su Pretrial where she was held pending arraignment on the charges of fail to stop in the 1st, reckless driving and DUI.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 06/12/2018 at approximately 1340 hours, Troopers with the Palmer Criminal Suppression Unit arrested Otis Mielke, age 40 of Wasilla, at the Mat-Su West Trooper Post. In early March 2018, Troopers received numerous reports of burglaries and thefts in the Yentna River area. Investigation led to two arrest warrants being issued for Mielke on the charges of Burglary I, Criminal Mischief III, Theft II, Vehicle Theft I, and Criminal Trespass I. Other charges for Arson II, Burglary I, Theft II, and Criminal Trespass I are being forwarded to the Palmer DAO for review. There are still other incidents that are under investigation. Troopers would like to thank the citizens of the Yentna River area with providing Troopers with updates on Mielke's whereabouts. Mielke was remanded to the custody of the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held on $10,000 bail.

    On 04/17/2018, Alaska State Trooper dispatch received a report of theft and trespassed on E BRUMAGE DR.  in Wasilla.  The complainant reported a dark colored SUV pulled into his driveway, a native adult female exited the vehicle and took a 5 gal gas can full of gas valued at over $150.  The video evidence at the scene is being analyzed and possible suspects are being identified.  The investigation is ongoing and the public is encouraged to contact Alaska State Troopers dispatch at 352-5401 or Crime Stoppers.

    Type: Assault 4th Degree DV / Criminal Mischief 5th Degree DV

    On 6/12/2018 at approximately 0808 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance near Rochelle Pl Big Lake.  Investigation revealed Jeremiah Proveauex age 30 of Big Lake assaulted a family member and caused property damage estimated to be under $250.00 to repair.  Proveauex was arrested for Assault IV DV and Criminal Mischief V DV.  He was transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was remanded without bail.

    On 6/12/2018 at approximately 0928 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a burglary near Lollybrook Dr., Wasilla.  Investigation revealed some time within the past two days someone entered a residence located near Lollybrook Dr. causing damage in excess of $1,200.00 to repair and stole a diesel heater, 2 compressors, 2 drills (1 compact and 1 regular), 2 disc sanders approximately 100 CD’s and a roll of carpet, all with a total value estimated to be approximately $1,349.00.  The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact the Palmer Alaska State Troopers at 907-745-2131.

    On 06/12/18 at approximately 1847 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to the village of Gulkana for the report of an assault. Investigation revealed Steven Lane-Jefferson, 28 yoa, had recklessly caused injury to a family member and had also placed that family member in fear of imminent physical injury. Steven was arrested and is being held at the Glenallen post pending arraignment.

    On 6/11/18 at approximately 2155 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a disturbance at a residence on S. Jeffrey Ln in Houston.  Investigation revealed Scott Crouse, age 31 of Houston, assaulted a family member and caused damage to the property.  Crouse was arrested for Assault 4 and Criminal Mischief 5 DV.  Crouse was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded into custody without bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 6/11/18 at approximately 2030 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on N Chum St in Willow.  While at the residence, Troopers contacted Samantha Herndon age 29 of Willow.  Investigation revealed Herndon had a warrant for her arrest for Failure to Appear on the original charge of DWLR.  Herndon was arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was remanded into custody with bail set at $1,500.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 06-11-18, at 1806 hours, Alaska State Troopers were contacted by Tatum J Bertholl, age 18 of Eagle River, who reported being stranded on a sandbar near the mouth of Eska Creek where it empties into the Matanuska River.  Tatum reported camping overnight with a friend, identified as Mikenzie S Patz, age 18 of Eagle River, and when they attempted to leave their vehicle became stuck in the mud and rising water.  Family members attempted to reach Tatum and Mikenzie but the river had risen significantly not allowing them to cross by foot or vehicle.  AST arrived in the area and determined the water was too dangerous to cross due to the rapidly rising water.  HELO 3 was airborne and returning from a separate rescue mission when this incident occurred.  HELO 3 was able to respond directly to Tatum and Mikenzie and safely rescue them from the shore.  Tatum and Mikenzie were transported to a local private runway where they were reunited with family members.  AST would like to thank the local resident who allowed HELO 3 and Troopers to use their runway and stage the rescue from that location.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 06/12/18 at about 0018 hours The New Stuyahok Village Public Safety officer received a request for help over the VHF.  Investigation led to the arrest of 28 year old Joseph Gust after it was determined he assaulted a family member.  Further investigation revealed Gust was on felony probation at the time of the assault. Gust was arrested and later remanded to the Dillingham Jail.  Alcohol was a factor in the incident.

    On 06-12-18 at approximately 0608 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report of a stolen vehicle from an address on Melan Drive in Fairbanks. Investigation revealed a green 1998 Ford Explorer was stolen sometime during the night. Investigation is ongoing.     On 06-12-18 at approximately 0141 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted John Williamson, age 39 of Fairbanks, on a traffic stop near the intersection of Airport Way and Gilliam Way in Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Williamson had an outstanding arrest warrant for Assault 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. Investigation further revealed Williamson was in violation of his probation. Williamson was arrested on the warrant and probation violation and remanded to FCC. Bail was set at No Bail.

    On 06/12/2018 at about 1602 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Tok with assistance from a Fairbanks based Village Public Safety Officer, contacted and arrested Frank Gene, 51YOA of Tok. Frank was arrested for Violating Conditions Of Release and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree.

    On June 12, 2018 The Alaska State Troopers Burglary Suppression  and Property Recovery Unit in Fairbanks investigated a reported burglary in the Lakeview Terrace subdivision. Kelly Bushnell  (54 YOA) of Fairbanks reported his residence was burglarized and over $250.00 of items were taken from the property. Troopers were able to recover all the reported stolen property. Troopers are interested in speaking with Susan Argo (42 YOA) of Fairbanks and Richard LaFleur (34 YOA) Fairbanks for questioning concerning this incident.     On June 12, 2018 at approximately 5:20pm, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report that a man was passed out behind Walgreens.  AST responded and contacted Jesse Attatayuk-Hurst, age 34 of Fairbanks, who woke up and provided a breath sample registering a .405 Breath Alcohol Content.  Investigation revealed that Jesse had been trespassed from the business two days ago.  Jesse was arrested for Second Degree Criminal Trespass and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

    On June 12, 2018 at approximately 8:00pm, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report of a disturbance at a Fairbanks residence.  Investigation revealed that Brian VanNeil, age 59 of Fairbanks, had been consuming alcohol in violation of his Court ordered Conditions of Release.  Brian was arrested and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on one count of Violating his Conditions of Release.

    On 6-11-18, at approximately 1945 hours, The Alaska State Troopers Bureau of Highway Patrol stopped a 2006 Dodge Charger for speeding near mile 98 of the Seward Highway. A passenger in the vehicle, Gerald Charles Sagoonick, age 27 of Anchorage, was found to have an outstanding $5,000.00 arrest warrant for failure to comply with conditions of probation for sexual abuse of a minor. Sagoonick was arrested for the warrant and later remanded to the Anchorage Jail held on $5,000.00 bail.

    On 6/12/18 at approximately 1045 hours, Alaska State Troopers Judicial Services served a writ of assistance on a residence on W 33rd Ave in Anchorage.  While at the residence, Court Service Officers contacted Amber Tweet age 29 of Anchorage who wished to turn herself in on a warrant for her arrest for Failure to Comply with Conditions of Probation on the original charge of Criminal Mischief in the third degree.  Tweet was arrested and transported to the Anchorage Correctional Complex East where she was remanded into custody with bail set at $20,000 Cash/Appearance.
