    Dispatch Text:

    On 6/8/19 at 0049 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a male that had fallen into the Copper River in Chitina while dip netting. AST responded and investigation revealed Russell Hepler, age 35 of Delta Junction, had fallen in the river and drowned. His body was later recovered. There are no signs of foul play. Investigation continues. Next of Kin has been notified.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 6/8/19 Dillingham AST received reports of a disturbance and a skiff that was stolen on the night of 6/7/19 from Ekwok.  Investigation revealed Trevallian Lundgren, age 34 of Ekwok, stole a motorized skiff from Ekwok the night of 6/7/19. He then returned to Ekwok and poured a full honey-bucket of human waste on an adult female, and broke her cell phone.  Dillingham AST responded and arrested Lundgren for Vehicle Theft 1, Harassment 1, and DV Criminal Mischief 4. He was booked at Dillingham Jail without bail pending arraignment.

    On 05-30-2019 Aniak AST received report of two separate burglaries at the same business in McGrath during the month of May.  During the investigation, information and evidence was obtained which led to the arrest of 2 individuals (Tristen Snow(21) and Sarah Edwards(21) both of McGrath).  Snow was charged with 2 counts of Burglary in the 2nd degree, 2 counts of Theft in the 3rd degree and 1 count of criminal mischief in the 3rd degree.  Edwards was charged 2 counts of Burglary in the 2nd degree, 2 counts of Theft in the 3rd degree.  Both were arrested, transported and remanded (without bail) at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel.

    On 06-04-2019 at approximately 0227 hours, Fairbanks Dispatch received a report of an assault in Upper Kalskag.  Aniak AST responded and contacted Kenneth W. Reed (35) of Upper Kalskag.  Upon completion of the investigation, Reed was arrested for 2 counts of Domestic Violence Assault in the 3rd degree.  Reed was transported and remanded (without bail) at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 6/6/2019 at about 0902 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a report of assault from the village of Akiachak. Tribal Police Officers (TPOs) reported Matthew Pasitnak threatened them with an axe. Investigation revealed Matthew recklessly placed TPOs in fear of imminent serious physical injury with an axe. This occurred while Matthew was on conditions of release in another assault case, in which he allegedly threatened TPOs with a firearm. AST arrested Matthew and remanded him to YKCC without incident, where he was held on charges of Assault in the Third Degree and Violating Conditions of Release. Alcohol was a factor in this case.

    On 06/07/2019 at 2003 hours the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding on Chena Pump Road.  Investigation determined the driver, Richard Warner, age 26 from Fairbanks was driving while under the influence of alcohol.  Warner was also on Conditions of Release from a DUI in May, 2019.  Warner was arrested for DUI, VCOR, No Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance, and DWLS.  Warner was issued citations for Open container and No safety Belt.

    On 6/8/19, at approximately 0039 hours, Fairbanks AST received a REDDI report that a van was speeding and unable to maintain its lane of travel on Davis St. in Fairbanks. Troopers responded and contacted the driver of the van, Tina Gray age 34 of Fairbanks. Investigation revealed that Tina was driving under the influence of alcohol. While being placed under arrest, Tina resisted by force. Tina was then brought to the Fairbanks AST post, where she failed to provide an adequate breath sample. Tina was remanded to FCC on the charges of DUI, Chemical Test Refusal, and Resisting Arrest. Bail is set at $1,000.

    On 6/6/19, at 1018 hours, a Parks Hwy Trooper received a report of a MVC-D at MP 299 of the Parks Hwy.  The motorist began flagging down passing vehicles trying to get a ride out of the area.  Jeffrey Tomes age 51 of Anderson was contacted at MP 304 and determined to be DUI and was arrested without incident.  Tomes was transported to Nenana Post to await transport to FCC.  Tomes was transported to FCC for DUI(2nd Offense) and No Interlocking Device.  Bail was set at $500.00 dollars.

    On 06/08/2019 at approximately 0248 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a Soldotna bar upon the report of a disorderly patron. Heavily intoxicated 30-year-old Sarah Kirk of Anchorage was contacted there and was found to have assaulted a staff-member. Kirk resisted her arrest. Subsequent to the investigation, Kirk was transported and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial on the charges of Assault in the Fourth Degree, Access of Drunken Persons to Licensed Premises, and Resisting Arrest.

    On 5-29-19 AST was investigating a motor vehicle crash on Bear Lake Rd. in which the driver was arrested for DUI. While AST was standing by for a tow truck to arrive to tow the overturned vehicle, Sean Storie age 47, of Seward who had been previously identified as a passenger in the overturned vehicle, drove to the scene in a skid steer vehicle to attempt to right the overturned vehicle. Storie was subsequently arrested for DUI and remanded to the Seward jail.

    On 6-1-19 at approximately 2333 hours AST responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Nash Rd and the Seward Hwy. Investigation revealed that Pete Brown, age 42 of Wasilla driving a 1999 Ford F250 had disregarded the stop sign on Nash Rd. and attempted to turn left onto the Seward Hwy. Justin Jacobsen, age 31 of Seward was driving northbound on the Seward Hwy in a 1999 GMC pickup and struck the Ford F250. Brown was arrested and charged with DUI, and chemical test refusal. Jacobsen was issued a citation for driving with a revoked license. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

    Type: Using Bear Bait/Scent Lure Within 1/4 Mile from a Public Maintained Road

    Dispatch Text:

    On 06/05/19, a Fairbanks-based Alaska Wildlife Trooper contacted William Eller, age 30 of North Pole, reference his bear bait site. Investigation revealed Eller had registered and established a bear bait site in Two Rivers which was within 0.16 miles of a publicly maintained road. Bear baits are required to be at least a 1/4 mile from a publicly maintained road or trail. Eller was issued a summons for the violation with an arraignment date in the Fairbanks District Court for 07/11/19 at 0830hours. Eller removed the bait site from this location.

    On 6/8/19 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Anchorage Post issued a citation to Harley Venrick 24 YOA of Chugiak, AK. Venrick received a citation for dispatching a black bear that was eating out of his trash at his residence. Investigation revealed the taking of the black bear did not qualify under Defense of life or property laws. Venrick’s court date was set for 7-18-2019 in the District Court of Anchorage, Alaska.

    Location: Chena River Recreation Area - Fairbanks
    Type: Using Bear Bait/Scent Lure within a Mile of a Developed Recreational Site

    Dispatch Text:

    On 06/01/19 at approximately 2216hours, a Fairbanks-based Alaska Wildlife Trooper contacted Quentin Hasten, age 26 of Fort Wainwright, regarding his bear bait site. Investigation previously revealed Hasten registered and was operating a bear bait site approximately 0.33 miles from a developed recreational site near Mile 37 of Chena Hot Springs Road. Bear bait sites are required to be at least one mile from any developed recreational site. Hasten was issued a summons for the violation with an arraignment date set in the Fairbanks District Court on 07/09/19 at 0830hours. Hasten removed the bear bait site after the investigation.
