C Detachment

  • AK18038728

    Location: Quinhagak
Type: Assault 3 fear, Assault 3 by priors

    Dispatch Text:

On 6/7/2018 at approximately 2345 hours, an Alaska State Trooper staying the night in Quinhagak responded to assist Tribal Police Officers (TPOs) with a man who had been huffing gasoline and had attempted to stab TPOs with a knife.  Subsequent investigation revealed John W Cleveland (age 32 of Quinhagak) had been huffing gas when contacted by TPOs.  TPOs attempted to take him into protective custody so he could detox in a safe environment.  While doing so Cleveland placed both TPOs in fear of imminent injury by means of a knife.  One of the TPOs sustained minor injury (not caused by knife).  TPOs utilized OC spray to help control him and get him into handcuffs. Cleveland has prior assault convictions within the preceding 10 years. Cleveland was arrested for two counts Assault 3 (fear) and one count Assault 3 (2+ prior convictions).  He was remanded to YKCC in Bethel.
