    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/12/2018 at 0500 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers were notified of an unexpected death at a remote fishing lodge on Prince of Wales Island. AST and AWT Troopers responded in the P/V Interceptor. Investigation revealed 65 year old Jens Mortensen of McAllen Texas died of natural causes. The next of kin was on scene.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 07/11/2018, at approximately 2257 hours, AST received a report of a disturbance at a residence on East Mothershead Lane in Palmer. Investigation revealed that two family members were involved in an altercation. Changes are being referred to the Palmer DAO.

    On 07/11/2018 at approximately 1200 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a burglary on South Fork Road in the Montana Creek area of Talkeetna. Investigation revealed someone had gained access to a building and stole approximately $3,300.00 worth of items.     Type: Criminal Trespass DV

    Dispatch Text:

    On 07/11/2018 at approximately 1446 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a property on North Mae Loop in Willow to investigate an ongoing dispute. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Harold F. Cross, age 66 of Willow for the domestic violence crime of Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree. Cross was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded without bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 07/12/2018, at 0038 hours, the Alaska State Troopers (AST) received a report of a boater that was stuck in the middle of the Copper River near the village of Chitina. Investigation revealed that John Minniti age 65 of Seward had been off loading his boat when the boat was caught by the current resulting in Minniti and his boat being stuck on a sand bar. AST with the help of the United States Coast Guard were able to rescue Minniti and bring him to shore with no injuries.

    On 07/12/2018 at approximately 1520 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to the area of Settlers Bay Dr. for a report of a Burglary. Investigation revealed someone had forced their way into the victims shed and damaged a lawn mower. Estimated cost of damage is $50.00.

    Type: Motor Vehicle Collision - Injury

    Dispatch Text:

    On 07/12/2018 at approximately 1125 hours, Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded to mile 89 of the Glenn Hwy for a report of a single vehicle collision. Investigation revealed Gloria Rollf, age 60 of Chugiak, was driving south on the Glenn Hwy in her 2015 Nissan 4 door when her vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned. Rollf sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident but reports wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is not a factor in this incident and the vehicle is likely a total loss.

    On 07/12/2018 at approximately 1750 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a disturbance on Claridge Ct in Wasilla. Investigation revealed a Wasilla female recklessly placed a non-family member in fear of physical injury. Charges will be forwarded to the Palmer DAO for Assault IV.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 07/12/2018 at approximately 1546 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a Burglary that occurred in the area of Tazlina earlier in the week. Investigation revealed that the suspect forcefully entered the residence through a back room window while the victim was out of town stealing $1,600 worth of items. Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact the Glennallen Alaska State Troopers at 907-822-3263.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/12/2018 at approximately 1756 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance near Overby Street in Wasilla.  Further investigation revealed that Scott Hafer, age 35 of Wasilla, assaulted a family member causing physical injury.  Hafer was arrested for Assault in the 4th DV and remanded to MSPT with no bail.

    Type: MVC-Fatal, Commercial Vehicle

    Dispatch Text:

    UPDATE: Investigation determined that a 2013 Toyota Sienna crossed the centerline and collided with a 2014 Peterbilt tractor with double fuel tankers. Both occupants of the Toyota are deceased. They are Tristan Carey, age 21, of Fairbanks, and Rachel Weter, age 21, of Huslia. Next of Kin have been notified. The driver of the Peterbilt was transported from the scene with non-life threatening injuries. Investigation continues.

    ORIGINAL RELEASE: On July 11, 2018 at 1103 hours AST received a report of a commercial vehicle on fire at mile 210 Parks Hwy, and subsequently received more calls stating there was a vehicle collision. Troopers and EMS responded. Preliminary investigation determined that a commercial vehicle and minivan collided on the Parks Highway. Two fatalities have been confirmed; next of kin have not been notified. The road has been blocked, and Troopers have re-routed traffic off the highway for both northbound and southbound traffic. Troopers, commercial vehicle enforcement officers, and EMS are on scene. Investigation is ongoing.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7-8-18 at 2230 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stolen motorcycle from the area of 50 mile Seward Highway.  Daniel Warner, age 26 of Utah, said he left his motorcycle parked along the highway on 7-7-18 at 1600 hours.  When he returned the motorcycle was gone.  The motorcycle is a 1990 blue and white Kawasaki KLR 650 with green stripes and Utah plates X21ZF.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Alaska State Troopers in Seward at 907-224-3346.

    On 7-12-18, approximately 1005 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Christopher D. Pearcy, age 32, of Phoenix AZ, on a commercial fishing vessel in Naknek. Pearcy was arrested as a fugitive from justice from Maricopa County AZ for the original charge of Conspiracy C2F, Illegal Enterprise C3F, Possession for Sale Narcotic Drug (Heroin) C2F, Transportation of Narcotic Drug (Heroin) C2F, Possession of Dangerous Drug (Meth) C4F and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia C6F. Pearcy was housed at the King Salmon jail awaiting arraignment.

    On July 10, 2018 Peter A. Aliotti 33 years old from Monterey, CA and Robb J. Stilnovich 46 years old from Fircrest, WA were cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers during the Bristol Bay Salmon Program for Commercial Fish Closed Waters in the Naknek River Special Harvest Area.  Arraignment is scheduled in Naknek District Court on July 19, 2018.

    Dispatch Text:

    On July 7, 2018, Alaska Wildlife Troopers issued a citation to Mark Charlton, 58 YOA of Anchorage, for Feeding Game. Charlton reported on July 4, 2018 that he had shot a bear in defense of life and property the previous morning, but did not report it until approximately 18 hours later. Investigation revealed Charlton had negligently left garbage out in a manner that attracted bears even after several bear encounters on his property due to unsecured garbage. Bail is set at $310 in the Palmer District Court.

    On 7/7/2018 at 2223 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a white 2004 Chevy pickup at Shrock Rd. and Infinite Rd. in Wasilla for equipment violations. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Justin Echak, 35 YOA of Wasilla. A check of APSIN revealed Echak’s driver’s license was revoked from 2/19/2018 to 5/19/2018 for DUI. Echak was issued a mandatory summons to appear in Palmer District Court.

    On 7/11/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, contacted a 17 year old male Juvenile from Juneau, after he had been observed retaining Sockeye Salmon from the mouth of Auke Creek.  The retention of Sockeye near or in Auke Creek is prohibited.  The juvenile was issued a $110.00 citation for retaining a Sockeye Salmon from a closed area.  The citation was issued in the District Court at Juneau.

AK Bureau of Investigation

    Location: Anchorage
    Type: Felony Eluding & Warrant Arrest

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/11/18, at about 1450 hours, investigators with the Special Crimes Investigation Unit (SCIU) attempted to stop a stolen Cadillac in the Mt. View area, in Anchorage, when the vehicle evaded investigators and departed the area at a high rate of speed, disregarding numerous traffic control devices.  The pursuit was terminated, but through the use of video surveillance of nearby businesses in the area, investigators developed a suspect, suspecting to be the driver of the stolen car.  The suspect was identified as Nicholas K. Kost, age 27, of Anchorage.  A further investigation revealed Kost had numerous felony warrants for his arrest, which included the charges of Theft 2nd, Vehicle Theft 1st, Misconduct Involving Weapons 3rd, Burglary 2nd and Criminal Mischief.  On 7/12/18, SCIU located Kost at a residence off of E. 75th Avenue, in Anchorage, and was assisted by members of the Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) in arresting him on his warrants.  Kost was transported to the Anchorage Jail by Department of Corrections Pretrial Enforcement Division as Kost was on pretrial supervision at the time of the arrest.  More felony charges are expected to be filed on Kost.
