    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/14/2017 at approximately 1130 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers were notified second-hand of a motor vehicle collision near Thorne Bay. Investigation determined the crash occurred at approximately 2200 hours the night before. Thorne Bay resident Steven Frank (32 years old), reported he fell asleep while driving home. The vehicle, a  2009 Ford F-350 pickup owned by Southeast Road Builders was totaled. Frank suffered minor injuries. Frank was issued a summons for failure to give immediate notice of collision and a citation for failure to wear safety belt.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/15/2017, Prince of Wales State Troopers were notified of a motor vehicle collision (MVC) near Coffman Cove. 82 year old Kenneth Lyon of Coffman Cove reported he fell asleep at the wheel while operating his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. The truck collided with a telephone pole causing extensive damage to the vehicle. Lyon, as well as his two passengers reported wearing safety belts and all were uninjured.

    Dispatch Text:

    On July 15, 2017 at approximately 0545 hrs, AST dispatch received a report of an intoxicated male who had attempted to steal a vehicle from a residence on N. Tongass Highway.  When the owner of the vehicle confronted the man, he fled on foot.  AST responded and located 21 year old Robert Starkloff walking near the intersection of N. Tongass and Sunset.  Subsequent investigation revealed Starkloff had been in control of the vehicle while under the influence of alcoholic beverages.  He was taken into custody and charged with Driving Under the Influence.  The owners of the vehicle declined to pursue criminal charges for the attempted vehicle theft.

    Dispatch Text:

    Update: Martin Rinke was part of a four person group each in their own inflatable kayak. AST would like to thank Nova Alaska for their assistance with the recovery of Martin's remains. 

    On 7/15/17 at approximately 1312 hours AST was notified of an overturned raft on the Matanuska River near the Lions Head.  Investigation revealed a raft had overturned in the river, discharging it's occupants.  Martin Rinke, age 63 of Sutton, succumbed to injuries received and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Next of Kin has been notified and Rinke's body will be sent to the SME's office for examination.  No foul play is suspected.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/15/17 at approximately 0230 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) report of a vehicle speeding on the Glenn Hwy.  Troopers located and stopped the vehicle, a gray Toyota 4 Runner near the Glenn Hwy and Inner Springer Rd.  Investigation revealed the driver, Andy Gocke age 24 of Willow, was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol.  Gocke was arrested for DUI alcohol and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded into custody to be released on his own recognizance.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/14/2017 at approximately 2313 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance at a residence on E. Cottle Loop. Investigation revealed Dale T. Roberts, age 50, of Wasilla assaulted a family member. Roberts was arrested for Assault 4th degree domestic violence. Roberts was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial with no bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 07-13-17 at approximately 1903 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Levelock to follow-up a reported assault/.  Investigation revealed Skye Juliana Weedman age 21 of Nondalton while involved in a dispute with a family member had physically injured that person resulting in injuries requiring medical treatment.  Weedman was arrested in Nondalton for Assault II and was transported to the King Salmon Jail where she was remanded into custody pending arraignment.

    On 7-14-2017 at 1228 hours, Selawik AST received a report that 25 year old Dean Mitchell had stole a 4-wheeler in the Village of Selawik and crashed it a short time later. AST investigation disclosed Dean Mitchell had violated his conditions of release in a prior case and was subsequently charged with Vehicle Theft in the First Degree and violating his Bail conditions.

    Type: Death Investigation

    Dispatch Text:

    On 07-14-17 at approximately 2110 hours, Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded to the village of Levelock for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival at the scene Troopers found a victim deceased.  Investigation at the scene revealed a dispute occurred between a homeowner and a visitor which escalated into a physical confrontation resulting in the death of one of the persons involved.  The deceased is identified as Ellis Lee Kaloke age 37 of Eagle River.  Next of Kin and the Alaska State Medical Examiner’s Office have been notified.  Alcohol was a factor in this incident.  Investigation continues.

    On July at approximately 1934 hours, AST received a tip about the location of one of Fairbanks Top 10 Most Wanted, Ivan Kious, 37 YOA of Fairbanks.  Ivan had a $10,000 outstanding warrant for his arrest for a prior burglary charge.  Ivan was located and contacted with Matthew Whorton, 33 YOA of Anchorage.  Investigation revealed both Ivan and Matthew were violating conditions of release.  Ivan was arrested on his outstanding warrant and violating his conditions of release.  Matthew was also arrested for violating his conditions of release.  Both parties were transported to Fairbanks Correctional Center where they were remanded.

    On 07/14/2017 at about 1907 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Tok , located Renee Hendren, 33 YOA from Dot Lake, at a residence in Tok. Renee had a $10,000 outstanding warrant for Burglary in the First Degree , 2 counts of Theft in the Second Degree , and Criminal Trespass in the First Degree. Renee was arrested for the outstanding warrant and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center where she is being held on $10,000 bail.

    On 07/15/17  Robert Petro was arrested for DVPO Violation and MIW 4. Troopers responded to the area of Peger Road due to Robert following the respondent of the DVPO in his vehicle around town. Robert was arrested and booked at Fairbanks Correctional Center.

    On July 15, 2017 at about 12:14 AM, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation.  Troopers identified the driver of the vehicle as 52 year Fairbanks resident Douglas Sylsberry.  Sylsberry was issued a misdemeanor citation for Misuse of Plates.

    On July 15, 2017 at about 1:44 AM, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a dirt bike riding on the roadway.  Troopers identified the driver as 22 year old Fairbanks resident Sergie Bahr.  Bahr was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence 2nd offense.  Bahr was transported to Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was remanded on a $500.00 bail.

    On 7/11/17 at approximately 6:47 a.m. AST contacted Dillon M. Salsman-Presley, age 25, of Anchorage for a moving violation.  Investigation resulted in Salsman-Presley being cited for Failure to Record Personal Use (Dipnet).  He was issued a $100 citation and released.

    On 7/15/17 at approximately 5:50 a.m. AST contact Genevieve E Bantz-Leguard, 36, of Fairbanks near mile 84.5 of the Sterling Highway for a moving violation.  Investigation resulted in her being arrested and charged with DUI and Refusal.  She was remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility.

    Type: MVC-I, Warrant Arrest

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7-14-17 at 2139 hours, the Soldotna Public Safety Communications Center received a report of a motorhome that flipped over and destroyed the guard rail at mile 45 of the Seward Highway.  Seward AST, Moose Pass Fire Department and Cooper Landing EMS responded to the scene.  The passengers and driver were on scene when EMS arrived. The driver was transported to Central Peninsula hospital for non-life threatening injuries. A tow company from Anchorage was contacted and responded to remove the motorhome. Impairment is believed to be a factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing. A records check revealed one of the occupants of the motorhome Ronnie Rakes, age 49 of Fairbanks, had a active arrest warrant for misconduct involving a controlled substance in the 4th degree. Rakes was arrested and remanded to  Wildwood Pretrial.

    On 7/5/2017 at approximately 2227 hours, Seward Troopers received a report of someone who slid down a cliff/embankment 25-30 feet. The victim was identified as Derrell T. Babb, 20 from Anchorage who complained of wrist pain and back pain. A good Samaritan assisted Babb in walking back to the parking lot. Babb declined medics and transported himself to the hospital.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/14/17 at approximately 1527 hours Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post, received a report from a homeowner on Rudolph Walton Circle that they believed their dog had just been killed by a bear that had reportedly been in the area throughout the day.  An AWT Trooper and Sitka Police responded and located a partially consumed dog behind the home with a male bear located nearby.   The bear was subsequently killed by Troopers and the hide, skull, and claws were surrendered to ADF&G.  No evidence of an attractant was observed at the home, however based on previous reports from the area, garbage was likely a factor in attracting the bear to the neighborhood.  Troopers would like to remind residents that it is a violation, punishable by a $310 fine, to leave garbage in a manner that attracts bears.

    On 07/10/2017 Steven Lecklitner (52 YOA, Led Better, TX) was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Bristol Bay Fisheries for employee several crew members who were unlicensed on the F/V Akutan. Lecklitner was cited in the Naknek District Court and fined for $260.

    Each employed crewmember were also cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Bristol Bay Fisheries for failing to have crew member license while commercial fishing on F/V Akutan. They are as follows:  Cameron Adams (35 YOA, Missouri City, TX), Anthony Alexander (27 YOA, Houston, TX), Decio Andrade (60 YOA, San Diego, CA), Curtis Bischer (55 YOA, New Orleans, LA), Michael Dines (45 YOA, Houston, TX), Joseph Journet (52 YOA, Houston, TX), Carson Lang ( 31 YOA, Des Moines, WA), Zachary Leder (33 YOA, Kenmore, WA), Brandon Thurston (43 YOA, Woodlands, TX), Luis Roderiguez (26 YOA, Alta Springs, FL).  All crewmembers were cited in the Naknek District Court and fined $260 each.

    Type: Limitations On Halibut - Violate NMFS Regulations

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/6/17, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, onboard the P/V Enforcer, contacted Michael Hansen, age 64 of Hawaii, onboard a vessel in Saginaw Bay on the north end of Kuiu Island.  Investigation revealed that Hansen was in possession of sport-caught halibut that had been mutilated in violation of National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) regulations.  Hansen was issued a strict liability citation for the violation in the District Court at Petersburg.  39 packages of Halibut were seized and later donated to a charity.

    On 7-13-17, 39 y/o Benjamin Peteroff of Marshall, AK was cited for commercial fishing with an unmarked salmon gill net. The charge resulted after Peteroff was contacted by AWT on the Yukon River near Marshall as he operated the unmarked commercial salmon drift gill net.

The charge resulted after Okitkun was contacted by AWT while commercial fishing in Yukon District Y-1, while operating a commercial fishing vessel without displaying his vessel identification/ permit number on the vessel.

    On 7-13-17, 49 y/o Vassily Sergie Sr., of Marshall, AK was cited for commercial fishing with an unmarked salmon gill net. The charge resulted after AWT contacted Segie as he was operating the unmarked commercial salmon drift net in the Yukon River upstream from Marshal in District Y-2.

    On 7-13-17, 38 y/o Melissa Alick of Pilot Station, AK was cited for Commercial fishing with no Photo ID and fishing with an unmarked commercial salmon gill net. The charges resulted after AWT contacted Alick and her crew as they worked to free their drift gillnet from a snag thirty minutes after the close of the period in Yukon District Y-2 downstream from Pilot Station. Once the net was freed, AWT discovered she was operating an unmarked drift gill net, and had no photo ID. During the contact, Alick informed AWT that she has been a permit holder for about five years and had never possessed her photo ID while fishing or selling her fish.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/9/17, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, onboard the P/V Enforcer, contacted Allen Curtes, age 67 of WI, sport fishing for salmon near Burnett Inlet.  Investigation revealed that Curtes had caught and retained a King salmon while being a nonresident, and had failed to immediately log the retention as required.  Curtes was issued a $110.00 citation in the District Court at Wrangell for the violation.
