    On 7-16-19 the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a vehicle in the ditch near Harriet Hunt Bridge on Revilla Road.  Investigation revealed Christen Harrington 49 of Ketchikan, was operating a motor vehicle under the influence when the vehicle went into the ditch.  Harrington refused to submit to a chemical test and was remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center on the charges of Driving Under the Influence and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 07/16/2019, at approximately 1538 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report that a 10mm Glock pistol and a wallet were stolen from a vehicle on Palomino Lane in Palmer.  The unknow suspect then used a debit card from the wallet at nearby store before all cards were cancelled.  Troopers have requested security footage of the transaction and the investigation continues.  Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact Troopers at 745-2131 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

    UPDATE: On 7/9/19, at approximately 1646 hours, a boater contacted AST to report a body found partially submerged in the Susitna River about 1 mile upstream of Deshka Landing.  AST and AWT responded and recovered the body. SME has confirmed identity to be William "Bill" Hartlage, missing since 6/27/19.  NOK have been notified. 

    On 6/27/19 at approximately 1859 hours, Alaska State Troopers received the report of a missing person near Willow Creek State Recreational Area, in Willow. A family member reported William “Bill” Hartlage, age 76 resident of Louisville Kentucky, was overdue and had not returned from fly fishing on Willow Creek at the Susitna River. At approximately 2305 hours, two boat crews departed Deshka Landing for a hasty search with the assistance of an RCC helicopter crew executing an aerial search. The search was focused north on Susitna River from Deshka Landing and east along Willow Creek. The initial search did not reveal any additional information and/or Hartlage’s location. MAT-SAR is currently mobilizing a ground search with the assistance of State Troopers, State Park Rangers and AST Helo 3 for continued search efforts. Hartlage is 6’2”, 160 lbs. with grey hair and beard. He primarily wears a light brown/tan fly-fishing vest and grey hip waders. He was last seen wearing a brown baseball cap with a yellow/pink fly-fishing lure attached. Hartlage may have worn a large round boonie hat for sun protection. Anyone fishing in the area of Willow Creek on 6/27/19, with information regarding Hartlage, is encouraged to contact Alaska State Troopers at (907)745-2131.

    On 7/15/2019 at approximately 0020 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a REDDI report involving a black 2003 PT Cruiser. Investigation revealed Amy Chagluak, age 28 of Wasilla, was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol. Chagluak was arrested at the scene for Driving Under the Influence as well as Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. Chagluak was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial where she was released under her own recognizance once sober.

    On 07/16/2019 at approximately 1153 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Wasey Way in Houston for a report of theft and criminal mischief. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s)  syphoned gasoline from multiple parked vehicles, damaged one vehicle to drain a fuel tank and stole propane tanks.     Type: Driving while license suspended hindering prosecution 2

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/16/19, at approximately 2155 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a single motor vehicle accident on the Sterling Hwy at mi 112.5. A silver 2010 Ford Edge swerved to avoid a moose and went into the ditch hitting a covert resulting the vehicle flipping and landing on its roof. The driver Lisa Marie Bates age 19 from Kasilof and a 10-year-old child sustained minor injury’s. Both individuals were transported to Central Peninsula Hospital by Central Emergency Services. Upon arrival AST was informed by Lysa Marie Bush age 34 from Kasilof, said she was the driver. Upon further investigation AST discovered Lisa Marie Bates to be the driver and her license was currently suspended out of Michigan for driving while suspended (DWLS). Lisa Bates has two prior convictions for DWLS out of Michigan. AST charged Lisa Marie Bates with driving with license suspended and charged Lysa Marie Bush with hindering prosecution. They were issued misdemeanor citations. Alcohol/Drugs did not play a role in the accident. Both occupants were wearing a seatbelt.

    On July 16th, 2019 at approximately 1429 hours, the Alaska State Troopers stopped Dalton J.L.W. McWhorter, age 20 of Soldotna, after a check revealed his driver's license was suspended for DWLS. McWhorter has three prior DWLR convictions making this a misdemeanor. McWhorter was issued a misdemeanor citation for DWLS and released from the scene.

    Type: Commercial King Salmon Closed Period, Unlawful Possession, Fail to report catch on fish ticket.

    On 7/13/19 Alaska Wildlife Troopers Sitka Post contacted Brandon J. Eells age 31 of Sitka, during an offload of commercial troll caught coho salmon from the F/V Emily Ann.  Following the completion of the offload, a large king salmon was located concealed in the hold of the vessel.   Commercial troll retention for King Salmon closed 7/5/19 at 2359 hours. Eells was cited for retaining King salmon closed period, unlawful possession, and failing to report catch on a fish ticket as required.  Crewman, Michael L. Martin age 42, of Sitka, was charged with unlawful possession.  The fish was seized.   Arraignments are set in the District Court at Sitka.

    On 7/14/19 Alaska Wildlife Troopers Sitka Post, contacted Russell Hansen, age 69, of CA, and Robert Cairo, age 60, of CA, following a complaint regarding fishing violations.   Hansen and Cairo were cited for retaining four non-pelagic rockfish over their limit of one per day.   Hansen was additionally cited for retaining a lingcod outside the non-resident slot limit of 30”-35” or over 55”.  Bail is set at $200 each for the rockfish violations, and $170 for the lingcod violation.

    On 7/15/2019 The Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted CLAYTON ELDREDGE (45 of Soldotna) while on patrol of the Cook Inlet commercial setnet fishery. Eldredge was contacted at 2003 hours with his commercial setnet in the water when the fishery closed at 2000 hours. His crew members did not have Valid 2019 Commercial crewmember licenses as well.  Eldridge was issued two citations:

    5AAC21.320(A): Commercial fishing during closed period in the salmon set gillnet fishery in the cook inlet

    AS16.05.680(A)(1): Employing commercial fishing crew members that do not possess a commercial crew members license.

    Bail is set at $3000 and $270 respectively. A court date has been set for 8/1/2019 in the Kenai Court.
