    Text: On 7-5-18 at about 1019 hours, AST was notified of a burglary and theft of cash from a residence off of Bideford Blvd. in Palmer. The homeowner reported between $200 and $400 in cash was taken. Investigation revealed 32 year old Wasilla resident Nina McCready entered the home and stole the cash. McCready is currently on the Department of Corrections Electronic Monitoring service for Burglary in the 1st Degree and Theft in the 2nd Degree. AST contacted McCready at her apartment on Agate and was taken into custody. McCready was transported, and remanded to the MSPT with bail set at no bail on the new charges of Burglary in the 1st Degree and Theft in the 4th Degree and $1000 cash only on the Violation of condition of release on the previous Burglary and Theft charge.

    On 07/05/2018 at approximately 0855 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stolen vehicle form the area of Williwaw Way. Investigation revealed a silver 1985 Subaru GL was taken from the residence sometime in the early morning. The vehicle also did not have the correct plates at that time. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encourage to contact AST at 745-2131.

    On 7/1/2018, approximately 2050 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on N Sasbo Bluff Drive in Wasilla for a reported theft.  Investigation revealed unknown person(s) illegally entered the property between 1930 hours on 6/30/2018 and 2030 hours on 7/1/2018 and stole one digital game camera valued at approximately $250.  Anyone with any information regarding this ongoing investigation is asked to contact either the Alaska State Troopers at (907)373-8300 or Crime Stoppers at (907)745-33333.

    On 7/4/2018, approximately 0010 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence off Beverly Lakes Road near Wasilla for a reported suicide.  Investigation revealed between the hours of 2315 and 0000 hours on 7/3/2018, 47 year old Jimi K Gillaspie-Smith of Wasilla died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.  No foul play is suspected at this time and the State Medical Examiner is assisting in the investigation. Next of kin has been notified.

    On 7/4/2018, approximately 1905 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a reported license plate theft from a vehicle parked at a residence on Crestview Avenue near Wasilla.  Investigation revealed the plates, GTJ108, were stolen off a gray 2013 Ford F-150 pick-up truck sometime after 2000 hours on 7/3/2018 and the investigation continues.  Anyone with any information regarding this investigation is asked to call either the Alaska State Troopers at (907)373-8300 or Crime Stoppers at (907)745-3333.

    On 7/4/2018, approximately 2030 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on E Mountain Ash Loop near Wasilla for a reported attempted ATV theft.  Investigation revealed unknown person(s) illegally entered the residential property and attempted to steel a red Honda 4-wheeler, causing approximately $300 damage to the ATV.     On 07/04/18, at approximately 1857 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop in vicinity of the Parks Highway and McAllister Road.  Investigation revealed that a passenger in the vehicle, Gregory Wall, age 27 of Wasilla, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  Wall was arrested and transported to the MATSU Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded with a bail of $100.

    On 07/04/18, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop in vicinity of the Glenn Highway and Marsh Road. Investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, Lance Owen, age 29 of Wasilla, had been driving while under the influence of alcohol while having two juveniles in the vehicle.  Owen was arrested and transported to the MATSU Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded for DUI and two counts of 1st Degree Endangering the Welfare of Child and released on his own recognizance.

    On 07/05/18, at approximately 0140 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop in vicinity of the intersection of the Glenn Highway and the Old Glenn Highway.  Investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, Charles Smith, age 37 of Anchorage, had an outstanding federal warrant for his arrest.  Smith was placed under arrest and transported to the MATSU Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded without bail.

    On 7/5/18 at approximately 0102 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the report of an impaired driver involved in a minor single vehicle collision located on Backhaus Street in Houston. Investigation determined Kyle Huntington, age 26 of Wasilla, was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. Huntington was subsequently arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was later released on his own recognizance.

    On 7/5/2018, approximately 0500 hours, Alaska State Troopers stopped a gold 2000 Chevrolet pick-up truck on W Sprucewood Drive in Wasilla for a moving violation. Investigation revealed 36 year old Robert B Grozier of Wasilla was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Grozier was arrested at the scene without incident and remanded to MSPT where he was to be released on his own recognizance.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7-4-18, at approximately 1400 hours, Dillingham based Alaska State Troopers received a report of a REDDI vehicle in the Dillingham.  Troopers located the vehicle in the Dillingham Boatyard.  An investigation disclosed Maverick Chiklak, age 20, of Dillingham was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.  Chiklak failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI.  Chiklak was also issued citations for driving with a revoked drivers license, minor consuming alcohol and driving a vehicle with an expired registration.  Chiklak was remanded to the Dillingham Correctional Center.

    Type: Structure Fire

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/5/18 at 0212 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Kodiak responded to assist the Kodiak City Fire Department and Bayside Fire Department for a structure fire located at 3515 Melnitsa Lane in Kodiak. Upon arrival, local Fire Departments had the fire contained to two trailers connected to each other. The trailers were not occupied at the time of the fire and within a few hours, both Fire Departments had the fire extinguished. The structure was completely destroyed due to the fire. No injuries were reported. Owners of the property were identified to be Kevin Arndt, 63 yoa of Kodiak and/or Vanessa Samaniego-Williamson, 33 yoa of Kodiak. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 07/05/18 at 0900 hours, Tok AST received a complaint that 61 year old Tok resident, Patrick M. Cleary had driven intoxicated to a restaurant, was pushing customers and refused to leave. Tok AST responded and subsequent investigation revealed Cleary had driven his motorcycle to the restaurant intoxicated after he failed SFST's. A records check showed Cleary to have two prior convictions of DUI within the last 8 years, making this a felony. Further investigation also revealed Cleary had tampered with his vehicle registration. Cleary was arrested without incident and held at Tok jail pending arraignments.

    Dispatch Text:

    UPDATE: On 7/5/2018 at approximately 0345 hours, Alaska State Troopers were notified that Tatyana Ionashku, 23 of Anchorage, was located and was with family. A trooper responded and verified that Ionashku was safe and with family. AST learned that Ionashku came upon a man camping on the Gerstle River. He gave her food and warmed her up before transporting her to her family.

    Original: On July 1, 2018 at approximately 1700 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Delta Junction received a missing person report for Tatyana Ionashku, 23 of Anchorage. Family for Ionashku reported that she had not been heard from in a few days, she did not show up for work and that they had her vehicle. Investigation revealed that on June 30, 2018 at approximately 0330 hours, Ionashku was driving her car near the intersection of Souhrada and Rummington Road in Delta Junction when she ran into a parked vehicle. The vehicle was parked outside of a residence.  The vehicle owner reported that he went outside to confront the driver, she took her shoes off and ran away, leaving behind her vehicle and purse. Troopers and volunteer searchers with dogs have searched the surrounding area. Ionashku may have been picked up by a passing motorist. Family of Ionashku reported that it is unlike her to not be in contact or to miss work. Anyone with any information regarding Ionashku's whereabouts are asked to contact AST in Delta Junction at 895-4800.

    On 7/3/18 at about 0801 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision near 1411 Alaska Highway.  Investigation revealed Megan Garrett of Fairbanks was driving a Volkswagen Jetta southbound on the Alaska Highway.  She lost control of the vehicle and entered the northbound ditch.  The vehicle came to a stop after colliding with a tree.  No injuries were reported.

    Type: Death Investigation

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/5/18 at 0856 hours, Trooper Dispatch received a report of a drowning victim on a commercial fishing vessel in the Cook Inlet. An investigation was conducted by the Alaska State Troopers, Homer Police Department, and US Coast Guard when the vessel arrived in Homer. The investigation showed Kevin Loran, 59 of Anchorage, and Anthony Walsh, 62 of Kenai, were commercial salmon fishing in Cook Inlet when Walsh went overboard. Loran attempted to get Walsh back on board but was not successful. While Loran was trying to get Walsh aboard, Walsh became unresponsive and went face down in the water. A nearby vessel came over and the two crews were able to get Walsh out of the water and CPR was performed but they were unable to revive him. Walsh’s remains are being sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office. Next of kin has been notified.

    On 07/04/18 at approximately 1929 hours, a Fairbanks-based Alaska Wildlife Trooper contacted a boat on Harding Lake occupied by three adults and two juveniles. Lucas Kinkade, age 30 of Fairbanks, was observed driving the boat. Investigation revealed Kinkade was operating the boat while under the influence of alcohol. Kinkade was also in possession of a handgun on his person. Kinkade was arrested and remanded to FCC with bail set at $500 in the Fairbanks District Court for the charges.
