    Dispatch Text:

    On 7/5/2018 at approximately 2241 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1990 Chevy pickup truck near Main Street in Wasilla. Further investigation revealed that the passenger of the vehicle who was identified as Steven Peldo, age 32 of Wasilla, had an outstanding warrant for failure to comply with conditions of probation. Peldo was arrested, transported and remanded to MSPT and held on $1500 cash bail.

    On 07/05/18, at approximately 2230 hours, the Alaska State Troopers stopped a vehicle at the Glenn Highway and Dogwood Rd in Palmer. Investigation revealed Kara Decker, age 33, of Delta Junction, was operating her vehicle under the influence of drugs. She was arrested for DUI and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where she was later released on her own recognizance.

    On 07-06-2018 at approximately 0141 hours, AST responded to a residence on Susitna Parkway for a report of a female throwing rocks at people.  Investigation revealed, Maria Cogan age 26 of Big Lake had physically assaulted her boyfriend causing injury.  Cogan fled the area prior to AST arrival.  A charge of Assault IV Domestic Violence will be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office.

    On 07/05/2018 at approximately 1705 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a burglary in the area of N. Richards Ct. in Wasilla. Investigation revealed someone forcefully entered the victims shed and stole multiple items, including tools.

    On 7/5/18 at approximately 1509 hours, Troopers responded to a three vehicle collision on Knik Goose Bay Dr. near the intersection with Donovan Dr. Preliminary investigation revealed Paul Anderson, 36 of Wasilla, was traveling North on KGB in a 2000 Dodge Durango when he struck the back of a 2012 Jeep Wrangler operated by Naomi Combs, 38 of Wasilla. Anderson’s vehicle then bounced off of the back of a 2011 Subaru operated by Robert Masterman, 42 of Bethel. Combs and her passenger were transported to MSRMC with reportedly non-life threatening injuries. Anderson was declared deceased at the scene. The SME has been notified and Next of Kin for the deceased has been notified. Investigation is ongoing.

    On 07/06/2018 at approximately 1130 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Mile 33 of the Glenn Highway for the report of a multi-vehicle collision. Investigation revealed that there were five vehicles involved in the collision. Several of the passengers and drivers were transported to Mat-Su Regional hospital for moderate injuries. All of the driver displayed no signs of impairment.

    UPDATE: The trooper that utilized deadly force during the shooting incident has been identified as: Trooper Kamau Leigh, B Detachment Glennallen Patrol. He is a six-year veteran of the Alaska State Troopers.

    Additional preliminary investigation has determined that Trooper Leigh arrived on scene shortly before 0315 hours. Hash had a container of incapacitating, flammable liquid in his hand, and advanced toward Trooper Leigh in close proximity to his service vehicle prior to the Trooper discharging his service weapon. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has assumed responsibility for the case, and investigation remains ongoing. Upon conclusion of their investigation, the Office of Special Prosecutions will review the incident and make a determination as to the justification of the discharging of the service weapon.

    ORIGINAL DISPATCH: On 7/6/2018 at approximately 0234 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a DV assault in Copper Center. The complainant reported that Eric Hash, 38 of Copper Center, was actively assaulting a 72 year old family member and was placing other family members in fear. While AST was en route to the incident, it was reported that Hash had left but then returned to the residence and family members barricaded themselves for safety as Hash was yelling at them and damaging property.  AST responded and made contact with Hash. At approximately 0315 hours, AST fired upon Hash and he sustained life threatening injuries. Hash was medivaced, but succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The General Investigation Unit has responded to Copper Center to conduct the investigation into the totality of the circumstances. Hash’s body will be transported to the SME’s office for autopsy. The trooper(s) that fired their service weapon will be placed on 72-hour mandatory administrative leave. No further information is currently available for release.

    On 07-06-2018, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a theft from a 2018 Hyundai Elantra parked at the Butte Trailhead on Bodenburg Loop.  Entry was gained by breaking the rear window of the vehicle and among the items that were stolen was the temporary registration plate for the vehicle.

    On July 5, 2018 at approximately 1345 hours members of the US Marshalls Fugitive Task Force and the Alaska State Troopers arrested Jason Black, a 35 year old male, from Noorvik. Jason had two outstanding arrest warrants for assaulting a family member. Jason had fled from Village Police Officers and AST over the past few weeks. Furthermore, Jason had made threats to shoot any LEO who attempted to arrest him. Jason was arrested without incident.

    On July 5, 2018 at approximately 1603 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stolen white and brown 1978 Jamboree Motorhome.  The motorhome was stolen from the gravel pit located at milepost 49 of the Seward Highway this morning between the hours of 0600 and 1000.  The motorhome has black spray paint painted around the front headlights.  Additionally, there is also a wood stove pipe sticking out of the roof of the motorhome.  Investigation is ongoing.  If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are encouraged to contact the Alaska State Troopers at 907-262-4453.

    On July 4, 2018 at approximately 2332 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a black GMC Yukon on the Seward Highway near the intersection of Airport Road for a moving violation.  Investigation revealed the driver, Alexx Parker, 26 YOA of Palmer, was driving under the influence.  Parker was arrested and transported to the Seward Jail where he was remanded.

    On 7-5-18 at 1458 hours, Soldotna dispatch received a report of a vehicle in the ditch off Nash Road.  Seward AST responded and contacted Branden Ramoth, age 24 of Seward.  Investigation revealed that Ramoth was impaired by alcohol and drove his vehicle into the ditch.  A check in APSIN showed this was Ramoth’s 3rd DUI in less than 10 years.  Ramoth was arrested for Felony DUI and remaned to Seward Jail with no bail.

    On 6/29/2018, AWT in Ketchikan issued citations to Jeremy Orin, 28 of Ketchikan, for DWLS and Improper use of Evidence of Registration after stopping a green Ford truck he was driving on the North Tongass Hwy.  A records check revealed Orin's license was suspended and the vehicle plate on the vehicle he was operating had a 2020 year tab on the license plate that did not belong to the vehicle.  Orin was given a July court date in the District Court in Ketchikan.
