    On 7/8/19, at 2030 hours, AST responded to mile 16 KGB Road for a disturbance. While en route the caller reported shots being fired. Upon arrival AST contacted William Pfluger, 42 YOA of Wasilla, who admitted to firing a black powder revolver at his own outhouse. Pfluger admited to consuming alcohol and gave a PBT sample of .135.  Pfluger was issued a summons for Misconduct Involving Weapons 4 for possessing a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 07/07/19 at 2006 hours, AST was performing traffic control at the Montana Creek Bridge on Yoder Road in Talkeetna assisting with fire fighting efforts in the area. AST contacted Leonard Talley in a Dodge pick-up attempting to enter the restricted area. Investigation revealed Talley was driving under the influence and he was arrested for the original charge of DUI. Talley was remanded into custody at the MSPT facility in Palmer where he was released O/R.

    On 07/08/2019 at approximately 1050 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the Tesoro Fuel Station near mile 51 Parks Hwy for a report of an assault. The female complainant reported almost being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot. This case is currently under investigation.

    On 07/08/2019 at approximately 1136 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a theft from a residence on Purinton Parkway in Big Lake. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) unlawfully entered the victim’s property and stole a travel trailer with $5000 in property inside. The trailer is described as a 1970 style green-aluminum travel trailer. Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact the Troopers at 745-2141 or Crime Stoppers 745-3333.

    On 7/7/19 at approximately 2247 hours, Soldotna AST responded to a disturbance at a residence off of Kalifornsky Beach Road.  Subsequent investigation resulted in John Morton, age 52 of Soldotna, being issued three misdemeanor citations for disorderly conduct and two counts of non DV assault IV.

    Update: On scene investigation revealed that a Subaru and a pick-up truck collided head on. The driver of the Subaru, identified as Michael Franklin, 18 of Palmer, died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. Five people were in the pickup truck. Three people* were transported by ground ambulance and one by life-med. The driver of the pick-up is identified as Garrett Bowley, age 39. Next of kin for Franklin have been notified. Investigation is ongoing.

    *An earlier dispatch misreported the number of people in the pickup truck. The correct number is four, as provided above.

    On 07/07/2019 at approximately 1640, Alaska State Troopers in Soldotna responded to a report of a MVC involving two vehicles at Mile 142 of the Sterling Highway. This dispatch will be updated.

    On July 8th,2019 at approximately 1349 hours, the Alaska State Troopers traffic stopped a grey 1993 Ford Crown Victoria for an equipment violation as it pulled into a residence on Island Lake Road, Nikiski. During the traffic stop a passenger, Timothy W. Hildereth, age 54 of Nikiski, was found to be on conditions of release. Further investigation revealed Hildereth was in violation of his conditions of release by consuming alcohol. Hildereth was arrested for VCOR. Hildereth was transported to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility where he was remanded and held without bail.

    On 7-8-2019 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited James Hayden (42) of Montana for allowing a non-resident juvenile to fail to log a Ling Cod on his harvest record card immediately after landing the fish.  This offense has a set bait of $120 and does not require an appearance in the First Judicial District Court at Prince of Wales.

    Type: Dungeness Pot Escape Ring Requirements

    On 07/07/2019 at about 1200 hours, Juneau AWT conducted a routine check of Dungeness crab pots in the Juneau area.  AWT located crab pots belonging to Curtis Stickler, age 44 of Juneau that did not have enough escape rings.  Curtis was contacted on 07/08/2019 and issued two citations for failing to have at least two escape rings on opposite sides and on the upper vertical plane of his Dungeness crab pots.  Bail for the offense is set at $120 per citation.

    On 07/07/2019, AWT conducted an inspection on a Dungeness Crab Pot in the Juneau Area.  Investigation revealed that the pot, belonging to David Nugent, age 56 of Juneau did not have at least two escape rings on opposite sides of the upper half of the vertical plane of the pot.  David was contacted and issued a citation for Dungeness Crab Pot escape ring requirements, bail for the offense is set at $120.

    On 06/30/2019 Timothy T. Stage, 59 years old, of Homer, AK was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers during the Bristol Bay Salmon Program for commercial fishing during a closed period in the Nushagak District. Arraignment is scheduled in Dillingham District Court on July 15, 2019.

    On 6/30/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island located and seized three dungy pots in the Klawock Inlet that did not have the biodegradable escape mechanism as required by regulation. Investigation showed that the pots were being fished by Peter Balasky, age 79 of Florida. Balasky was later located and cited for the violation, and the pots were returned.
