    Type: Attempted Arson I (DV), Assault III (DV) 3 counts

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7-7-18 at approximately 2009 hours, the Alaska State Troopers, Saxman VPSO and the S. Tongass Fire Department responded to a report of a male causing a disturbance at a residence in the 6300 block of S. Tongass Highway.  The male was attempting to set the residence on fire and was pouring gasoline inside.  Upon AST arrival, the male, identified as Robert Pickrell, age 40 of Ketchikan, was found inside the residence intoxicated.  Three other persons were inside the residence at the time.  Pickrell was arrested for Attempted Arson I and three counts of Assault III and transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center.  The S. Tongass Fire Department took control of the residence to ensure it was safe to be occupied.

    On 7-7-18 at approximately 0808 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a call requesting a welfare check on Charles Lundin, age 63 of Hollis.  Lundin was found unresponsive under a four wheeler.  Lundin was pronounced dead at the scene.  Next of Kin have been notified.

    On 7-9-18, at approximately 1117 hours, Alaska State Troopers, Palmer Judicial Services warrant unit contacted Frank Bevo, age 77 of Wasilla for a warrant service at the Palmer Court. Bevo was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to remand to serve 5 days; original charge DUI. Bevo was arrested without incident and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial to serve 5 days.

    On 7/8/2018 at approximately 1632 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a vehicle being vandalized and gas stolen near S Timberline Dr. Big Lake.  Investigation revealed some time within the previous 24 hours someone drilled a hole in the gas tank of a blue Ford F250 bearing AK plate FSK411 and stole approximately 10 gallons gasoline.  The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact the Palmer Alaska State Troopers at 907-745-2131.

    Type: DV assault/Trooper involved shooting

    Dispatch Text:

    UPDATE: The trooper that utilized deadly force during the shooting incident has been identified as: Trooper Kamau Leigh, B Detachment Glennallen Patrol. He is a six-year veteran of the Alaska State Troopers.

    Additional preliminary investigation has determined that Trooper Leigh arrived on scene shortly before 0315 hours. Hash had a container of incapacitating, flammable liquid in his hand, and advanced toward Trooper Leigh in close proximity to his service vehicle prior to the Trooper discharging his service weapon. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has assumed responsibility for the case, and investigation remains ongoing. Upon conclusion of their investigation, the Office of Special Prosecutions will review the incident and make a determination as to the justification of the discharging of the service weapon.

    ORIGINAL DISPATCH: On 7/6/2018 at approximately 0234 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a DV assault in Copper Center. The complainant reported that Eric Hash, 38 of Copper Center, was actively assaulting a 72 year old family member and was placing other family members in fear. While AST was en route to the incident, it was reported that Hash had left but then returned to the residence and family members barricaded themselves for safety as Hash was yelling at them and damaging property.  AST responded and made contact with Hash. At approximately 0315 hours, AST fired upon Hash and he sustained life threatening injuries. Hash was medivaced, but succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The General Investigation Unit has responded to Copper Center to conduct the investigation into the totality of the circumstances. Hash’s body will be transported to the SME’s office for autopsy. The trooper(s) that fired their service weapon will be placed on 72-hour mandatory administrative leave. No further information is currently available for release.

    Location: Mile 59.5 Glenn Highway - Sutton
    Type: MVC - Fatal

    Dispatch Text:

    Update: The deceased in this motor vehicle fatality has been identified as Wallace Roy Tingook, age 59 of Sutton. Next of kin has been notified.

    On 7/9/18, at 0106 hours, Troopers responded to a reported single vehicle MVC rollover located at mile 59.5 Glenn Highway near Sutton.  AST arrived on scene and located the vehicle operator deceased after apparent ejection from the vehicle.  Investigation shows the vehicle was northbound on the Glenn Highway and began a skid on a corner which was overcorrected, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway where it rolled multiple times.  NOK has not yet been notified.  Investigation continues.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 07-07-2018 at approximately 1848 hours, Aniak AST received a report of an assault in Lower Kalskag.  Aniak Troopers responded to Lower Kalskag and contacted Walter Kurtis Snyder (32), of Lower Kalskag.  The investigation revealed Snyder committed 2 counts a domestic violence crime of Assault in the 3rd degree.  Further investigation revealed Snyder had previous assault convictions and received another count of Assault in the 3rd degree.  Snyder was arrested for three counts of Assault in the 3rd degree.  Snyder was transported and remanded at YKCC for the charges and held without bail.

    On 06-30-2018 at approximately 1458 hours, Aniak AST Troopers received a REDDI report on a white Dodge pickup truck, bearing AK license plate XXV414, in McGrath.  The caller stated the vehicle was all over the road and he had to take evasive action to avoid a collision.  AST conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the driver identified as Timothy Hooper (25), of Anchorage.  The investigation revealed Hooper was operating the vehicle while being impaired by an alcoholic beverage.  Hooper was arrested for DUI and also received two citation for Negligent Driving and Open Container.

    On 07-04-2018 at approximately 0519 hours, Aniak AST received a report of an assault in Crooked Creek.  Aniak AST responded to conduct the investigation of the assault.  The investigation revealed Ignattie Sakar (37), of Crooked Creek, had assaulted an individual in Crooked Creek.  AST was unable to locate Sakar during the investigation.  An arrest warrant is being requested for Sakar for Assault in 3rd degree and 2 counts of Assault in the 4th degree, which are all Domestic Violence related.

    On 07-05-2018 at approximately 1051 hours, Aniak AST received a report of an assault in Aniak.  AST responded to the address and contacted Valka Nickolie (51), of Aniak.  The investigation revealed Nickolie had committed a domestic violence crime of Assault in the 4th degree.  Nickolie was arrested and transported to YKCC in Bethel where he was held without bail.

    On July 9, 2018 at approximately 5:50 pm, the Alaska State Troopers (AST) responded to a 911 call for an assault in progress. Upon arrival, AST contacted Megan Mercier, age 31 of North Pole, at an apartment complex in Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Megan had assaulted another female. Megan was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center where she was held on $500 bail for one count of Assault in the Fourth Degree.

    Type: Felony eluding, misconduct weapons 3rd degree, driving while license cancelled, warrant arrest.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 7-9-2018, at approximately 1220 hours, AST was giving information of a possible disturbance at a pull out near Delta Junction involving stolen property.  AST located the suspect in a vehicle that was reported stolen from a previous case near the Delta Petro Wash in Delta Junction.  A AST patrol unit attempted to stop the vehicle however upon spotting the Trooper vehicle, the suspect fled in the vehicle.  The suspect eluded Troopers for approximately 25 miles and while doing so causing other motorist to take evasive action as well as failure to yield to an ambulance that was on a medical call.  The vehicle eventually stopped and the driver was identified as Previn Deveroux, 32 yoa from Anchorage.  Previn was placed under arrest without incident.  Previn was transported to Fairbanks Correctional facility for Failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer 1st degree, misconduct weapons 3rd degree for being in possession of a concealable firearm while being a convicted felon, and driving while license is cancelled.  Previn also had multiple arrest warrants totaling approximately $35,000 in warrants.  Previn was remanded without bail.

    On 7/9/18 at about 1200 hours Bethel AWT and AST traveled to the village of Nightmute for a report of two moose having that had been shot and salvaged on 7/7/18. Investigation revealed that Teddy Dull 39 and Elliot Tulik 31 both of Nightmute had shot and killed two Bull Moose on 7/7/18 at about 2000 hours near the village of Nightmute. Both Dull and Tulik were charged with taking a moose during a closed season and for unlawful possession of game. AWT seized what moose meat that was located during the investigation, as well as the rifle used in the incident. The seized moose meat was donated to the Bethel Senior Home.

    On 7-6-18, at 0057 hours, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded to an address in Palmer after it was reported that an individual had shot at a black bear that had been getting into trash. Investigation revealed that Justin Davis, age 36 of Palmer, had failed to clean up food which attracted a black bear to his residence. Davis then shot at the black bear with a .22LR handgun. The bear was not located and it is unknown if the bear was hit. Davis was instructed to clean up the food and issued a citation for negligently leaving food out in a manner which attracted game. Bail was set at $310 in Palmer District Court.
