    On 8-6-17 at approximately 1819 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a REDDI report of a blue Chevrolet pickup driving through the Signal Creek Campground with an intoxicated driver.  Investigation revealed the driver Terrill Howard, age 56 of Ketchikan was operating the vehicle under the influence.  Howard had a breath alcohol level of .224%.  Howard was arrested and remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center on the charges of Driving Under the Influence and Misconduct Involving a Weapon IV.

    On 8/6/17 at approximately 0118 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1995 GMC Pickup for a moving violation. Investigation revealed the driver Jeffrey Carlson, age 25, of Wasilla had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest. The passenger Jackie Bay, age 34, of Wasilla had an outstanding warrant out for her arrest. Both were arrested, transported and remanded to MSPT.

    On 08/05/17, at approximately 2341 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance at a residence on Glendale Drive in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Johnnie Netherton III, age 33, of Wasilla, committed assault at the residence. He was arrested for Assault IV DV and remanded to MATSU Pretrial with no bail. He will be arraigned later today.

    Dispatch Text:

      On 8/6 /2017 at approximately 0237 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a REDDI Report for a DUI vehicle traveling on the roadway near Plack Rd in North Pole. The driver of the vehicle Aaron Austin age 31 of North Pole was contacted. Investigation revealed Aaron was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Aaron was arrested for DUI and transported to Fairbanks Correctional Center for remand.

    On 8/5/17 at 1920 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a REDDI report of a white Ford F250 that was driving erratically. The vehicle was later found on its side in a ditch. Investigation revealed the driver, William Whitehead 48 years old of North Pole, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Whitehead was arrested and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center and held on $500 bail.

    On 8/6/17 at 0116 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a 911 call reporting a fight outside of a local gas station. Investigation revealed Kirk Nickoli, 33 years old of Fairbanks, had offered marijuana to a juvenile age 14. Following the offer of the controlled substance and subsequent refusal by the juvenile, Nickoli challenged two juveniles to a fight. Kirk was arrested and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was held without bail.

    On 8/5 /2017 at approximately 2300 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1993 Geo Prizm for an equipment violation on Dennis Road in North Pole. An investigation reveaeled the driver, Eric Gonsar age 32 of North Pole, was in possession of a controlled substance and in violation of his bail conditions. Further investigation revealed the passenger, Kristina Watford age 25 of North Pole, was in violation of her bail conditions. Gonsar was arrested for MICS IV and VBO and Watford was arrested for VBO. Both were transported to Fairbanks Correctional Center for remand.

    On 7/27/17 at 0902 hours, Troopers responded to a report of an assault after the fact in Ninilchik. An investigation showed Keene Hendryx, 35 of Ninilchik, had assaulted his wife the previous night.  Hendryx was charged with one count of assault in the 4th degree.

    Update: On 9/18/2017 Alaska State Troopers were notified by the State Medical Examiner's Office that the remains found on 9/12/2017 were positively identified as Phillip Keltner. Keltner's family has been notifed by the SME's office and his remains were released to family.

    On 9-12-2017 at 1617 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to the Kenai River near the mouth known as the North Beach Area after it was reported someone located a body on the beach. AST took possession of the body and it will be sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for positive identification. This press release will be updated with the identification of the person once it has been completed by the State Medical Examiner's Office.

    On 8-4-2017 at 2107 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report that four boaters were ejected from an out of control boat on the Kenai River near Centennial.  It was reported that none of the boaters were wearing life jackets.  The Alaska State Troopers along with the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Alaska State Park Rangers, Soldotna Police Department and Central Emergency Services responded to the area via boat and on foot checking the shoreline.  Three of the occupants were able to swim to shore.  The fourth boater, identified as Phillip Keltner (63 of Colorado) was reportedly unable to make it to shore and was last seen floating down river and had reportedly gone under water.  All search units were unable to locate Keltner and the search was suspended.  Further searches of the area are underway by the Alaska State Park Service.  The cause of the boat malfunction if under investigation.  Next of kin has been notified.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Alaska State Troopers at 907-262-4453.

    On 8-5-17 at 1538 hours, Seward AST responded to a single vehicle roll over near mile 38.5 of the Seward Highway.  Investigation revealed the driver,  Joseph Mello, age 78, of Cooper Landing, failed to negotiate a corner and drove off the road.  Joseph received minor injuries, his wife, Joan Mello age 76, of Cooper Landing, was transported to Soldotna Hospital for non life threatening injuries.  Alcohol was not a factor.

    On 8-4-17 at 2251 hours, Seward AST contacted Devin Loomis, age 34, of Seward and Charlotte Davenport, age 24, of Seward near mile 1 of the Seward Highway.  Investigation revealed that Loomis had 3 warrants for his arrest which included theft in second degree, theft in the third degree and forgery.  Davenport also had a warrant for theft in the 4th degree.  Both were arrested and remanded to Seward Jail.

    On 8-3-17 at 2110 hours, Seward Troopers responded to a report of a disturbance off Salmon Creek Road. Brittney Fattore and several other people were contacted on the scene.  Investigation revealed that Fattore assaulted another person who was living in the house.  Fattore was arrested for Domestic Violence Assault in the 4th degree and remanded to Seward Jail.

    On 7/29/2017 at approximately 2234 hours, Seward Troopers responded to the Lost Lake area for a disturbance in progress. Marshall Byers,39 from Seward was contacted on scene. Investigation revealed Byers placed a individual in fear of injury and damage property at the residence. Byers was arrested for Domestic Violence Assault 4 and Criminal Mischief 5. Byers was remanded to the Seward Jail with no bail.

    On 7/30/2017 at approximately 1938, Seward Troopers received a report of a injured hiker on Crow Pass Trail. The hiker was reported to be James Sharp, 36 from Anchorage and his hiking partner with him is Christine Dishman,36 from Anchorage. Sharp had issued crossing the Eagle River and was report to have hurt himself in the process. Alaska Mountain Rescue Group was contact and responded to the area and located both individuals. Christine Dishman walked out with AMRG and Sharp was picked up the next morning by Alaska State Troopers Helo 2.

    On 8/5/2017 at approximately 2155 hours, Seward Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a grey Chevy Truck at mile 64 of the Seward Hwy. The driver was contacted and identified as Tab Cahill,56 from Anchorage. Investigation revealed Cahill was traveling 98 mph in a 65 mph zone. Cahill was also impaired by alcohol. Cahill was arrested for DUI and remanded at the Seward jail.

    On 8/6/2017 at approximately 0333 hours, Seward Troopers responded to the Pit Bar for a fight in progress. Investigation revealed the fight was mutual combat and no one wanted to press charges. One of the individuals would not identified himself. The male was verbally confrontational with Troopers. The male was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Drunk on License Premise. The male was going to be remanded at the Seward jail as John Doe when his mother showed up and identified him as Wayson Dudoit,30 from Seward. Wayson Dudoit was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Drunk on License Premise.

    On 8-05-17 at 2227 hours, AST responded to Browns Lake Road in Funny River to a report of a driving complaint and possible disturbance. Upon arrival AST contacted a female at the scene identified as Sorina A. Lorenz, 23 YOA of Funny River AK. Investigation revealed Lorenz had an outstanding warrant for her arrest for the amount of $250.00 for the original charge of theft in the 3rd degree. Lorenz was arrested for the warrant and was transported to Wildwood Pretrial where she was remanded and is currently being held on $250.00 bail.

    Type: Fail to stop, DUI, Reckless Driving, VCOR, Vehicle theft

    Dispatch Text:

    On 8/6/17 at about 0910 hours, Bethel AWT observed a white Chevy pickup truck traveling on the Chief Eddie Hoffman Highway near the Bethel regional hospital at approx. 100mph.  The driver later identified as Robert Page 27 of Newtok failed to yield and continued into Bethel.  Page was arrested a short time later after AWT and AST followed him to apartments at 833 Ridgecrest Drive in Bethel and after a brief foot pursuit.  Page was subsequently remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center charged with failing to stop at the direction of a peace officer involving reckless driving, DUI, reckless driving, violating his conditional release from jail in a previous case, and vehicle theft.  Page was held without bail pending arraignment.

AK Bureau of Highway Patrol

    On 08/06/17 at 1849 hours, Alaska State Troopers, Bureau of Highway Patrol arrested Matthew Vangoethem (age 29 of Anchorage, AK) for driving under the influence (DUI). Initially Vangoethem was called in as a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately). A concerned motorist called in the REDDI because the vehicle was swerving traveling northbound near mile 90 of the Seward Highway. Troopers made a traffic stop on the vehicle based on the REDDI report at mile 100 of the Seward Highway. This section of the Seward Highway is within the Seward Highway Traffic Safety Corridor. The traffic investigation revealed Vangoethem was an impaired driver. Vangoethem was arrested and transported to the Anchorage Correctional Complex for DUI processing. Vangoethem’s vehicle was released to a sober licensed driver. Vangoethem was then released from the Anchorage Correctional Complex on his own recognizance.
