    On 08/07/18 Alaska State Trooper dispatch received a report of a vehicle theft in Wasilla.  The complainant stated an unknown person entered the property and took a 2004 WHITE NISSAN SENTRA, Alaska license plate GRM852.    A possible suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.  The public is encouraged to contact Alaska State Troopers dispatch at 352-5401 or Crime Stoppers.

    Type: Unexpected Death

    On 08/07/18 at approximately 1130  hrs. Alaska State Troopers received a report of a Wasilla resident found deceased in his home.  A family member reported he located 23 year old, TANIS FRANCO unresponsive during a morning check.  The State Medical Examiner and Alaska State Troopers responded to the residence off Soapstone in Wasilla. State Examiner concluded foul play was not a factor and FRANCO died of natural causes.

    On 08/07/2018 AST dispatch received a report of an active arrest warrant. The complainant stated that a male with a $25,000.00 warrant was at the a residence on Echo Drive in Wasilla.  Troopers responded to the area and located ROBERT BATES 29 yo of Wasilla at the residence.  BATES was taken into custody without incident.  BATES was remanded to Matsu pretrial on $25,000.00 warrant and 4 years to serve.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 8/6/18 at 1945 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported disturbance at mile 103 of the Parks Hwy.  Investigation revealed Orrin Pinard, age 30 of Talkeetna, assaulted a family member by causing physical injury.  Pinard was arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held without bail.

    On 08/06/2018 at approximately 1800 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the Talkeetna Boat Launch and Campground for a reported domestic disturbance involving Larry Allan Barnett, 39 years old of Anchorage. Barnett was found to have several felony warrants for his arrest. AST observed Barnett walking through the area and he subsequently fled on foot. After a foot pursuit, Barnett was taken into custody for his warrants. No new crimes were discovered from the disturbance. Barnett was transported and remanded at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 08/05/2018 at approximately 1836 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Willow Creek State Park for a reported disturbance between individuals fishing from the water and individuals operating a boat in the area. A physical altercation ensued between multiple participants and a firearm was involved. No serious injuries were reported. The individuals involved have been identified and criminal charges will be filed with the Palmer District Attorney’s Office at the completion of the investigation.

    On 08/05/2018 at approximately 1907 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the Sunshine Tesoro convenience store in Talkeetna for a reported disturbance. An investigation revealed Brandi Lynn Slover, 35 years old of Wasilla, was causing a disturbance in the store and on the property. Slover had previously been trespassed from the property. Slover was subsequently issued a misdemeanor citation for criminal trespass with a notice to appear to the Palmer Courthouse on a later date.

    On August 7, 2018 at approximately 1200 hours the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a theft from one of the storage units at Kodiak Transfer. Preliminary investigation revealed someone broke into the storage unit between 2011 and 2018. The following items were reported to be missing; Para Commander Parachute, multiple Samurai swords, Indonesian Kopassus Knife, a Miata-3000 bicycle, and several military awards and yearbooks.     Dispatch Text:

    The Alaska State Trooper's responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident near MP 165 of the Parks Highway. Their investigation determined Yurio Nakada age 69 of Anchorage, had traveled northbound in his 2013 Ford F-150 (Vehicle #1) with Jeannette Hyles age 57 of Willow, as his passenger. It was raining heavily and the road surface was covered with water. Vehicle #1 began to hydroplane and left the roadway on east side where it yawl left and then rolled over on to its right side, roof and came to rest on its left side. Both occupants denied injuries and reported wearing their seatbelts. Alcohol was not a factor.

Smoke was arrested and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was held without bail.

    Type: Fail to stop at the direction of a peace Officer, DWLR, Driving uninsured

    Dispatch Text:

    On 8-7-18 at 1450 hours, The Soldotna AST K-9 Team attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a red 1998 Pontiac Montana Transport van after observing the driver failing to wear a seatbelt. The driver and sole occupant later identified as Luis R. Corona (58) YOA of Soldotna failed to pull over. The vehicle eventually came to a stop near the driveway of Backtrackers Trailer Park and Corona fled from the vehicle on foot. K-9 announcements were given and Corona voluntarily gave himself up and was taken into custody without incident. Upon contact investigation revealed Corona was operating the vehicle with a Revoked operator’s license and no motor vehicle insurance. Corona was issued traffic citations for driving revoked in a Double Fines Safety Corridor and driving without motor vehicle insurance in a Double Fines Safety Corridor. Corona was arrested for misdemeanor eluding and was transported and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial where he was released on his own recognizance.

    Type: Commercial Fishing-Fish Ticket Requirement Violation.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 8/6/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island conducted an inspection of the salmon purse seine tender vessel offload of the FV Robert Magnus.  It was discovered that the vessel had ten king salmon and two steelhead on board that had not been recorded on a fish ticket.  The captain of the vessel was identified as Peter MacDonald, age 66 of Washington.  McDonald was issued an Alaska Uniform Citation to appear in court for failing to accurately record all fish on a fish ticket, as required by regulation.

    During an off load of troll caught coho salmon from the F/V Katie J it was discovered two king salmon were retained on the vessel. One King salmon was seized immediately. Investigation revealed the other fish was thrown overboard by permit holder Gene E. Gilden, age 63, of Anacortes, WA. Sitka Fire Department Dive Team responded to assist and recovered the discarded salmon. Gilden was cited for Retain King Salmon Closed Period and Waste of Salmon. Hansen, age 56 of Seattle, WA was issued a summons to appear in the District Court in Sitka for Commercial Fishing Closed Period.

    On 8/5/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island conducted an inspection of the salmon purse seine offload of the FV Katlian. It was discovered that the vessel had two king salmon greater than 28” on board, in violation of Emergency Order 1S4718. The captain of the vessel was identified as Byron Skinna Jr, age 52 of Klawock. Skinna was issued an Alaska Uniform Citation to appear in court for the charge of Unlawful Possession of Fish.

The captain of the vessel was identified as Charles McCullough, age 35 of Petersburg. McCullough was issued an Alaska Uniform Citation to appear in court for the charge of Unlawful Possession of Fish.

    On 8/6/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island conducted an inspection of the salmon purse seine tender vessel offload of the FV Diligence.  It was discovered that the vessel had 49 king salmon and seven steelhead on board that had not been recorded on a fish ticket.  The captain of the vessel was identified as Pleny Hyde-Rivera, age 43 of Florida.  Rivera was issued an Alaska Uniform Citation to appear in court for failing to accurately record all fish on a fish ticket as required by regulation, and for unlawfully possessing King Salmon in violation of Emergency Order 1S4718.
