    On 8/8/2018 at approximately 1202 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a burglary near Hematite Road in Wasilla.  Investigation revealed that the residence was entered without force and several items were damaged and missing.  Investigation is ongoing.  If you have any information regarding this case you are encouraged to call the Alaska State Troopers at 373-8300 or Mat Su Crime Stoppers at 745-3333 .

    On 08/08/2018 at approximately 2130, AST conducted a traffic stop on a white 1994 Mercury 4 door for moving violations at Parks Hwy and Palmer Wasilla Hwy in Wasilla. Investigation revealed the driver, Gregory Reece age 56 of Anchorage, had a revoked license for Felony DUI until the year 2068. Further, Reece had a warrant for Failure to Comply with Probation on the original charge of Felony DUI. Reece was arrested and held at Mat-Su Pretrial Facility on $20,000 bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 08/08/2018 at approximately 0903 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report of theft from a residence in Big Lake. Investigation revealed the victim had an electric boat motor and two car batteries taken from her residence. The total value of items taken is approximately $500.00.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 8/8/2018 at approximately 1329 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Tait Stockman, age 33 of Wasilla, near Fireweed Road in Wasilla.  Investigation revealed that Stockman had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for assault in the fourth degree.  Stockman was transported and remanded to MSPT and held on no bail.

    On 08/08/2018 at approximately 0126 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to an address on W. Parks Hwy in Wasilla. Investigation revealed a 44 year old female was assaulted by numerous people. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A suspect has been identified in this incident and investigation is continuing.

    On 08/07/2018 at approximately 2340 hours, Troopers responded to a residence on W. Schrock Road in Wasilla. Troopers recovered a stolen 2012 Arctic Cat Side by Side. Troopers have developed a suspect in this incident and this investigation is ongoing.

    On 08/08/2018 at approximately 0230 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted a Ford Explorer in the Shell parking lot at the corner of Parks Highway and Vine Road.  The driver was identified as Sammi Bradstreet, age 31 of Wasilla.  A check of APSIN/NCIC showed Bradstreet had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of no liability insurance.  Bradstreet was arrested without incident and transported to Matsu Pretrial where she was held on $50 cash bail.

    On 8/7/18 at 2020 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Curtis Ouellette age 34, at a residence on S Starlight Lane in Wasilla.  Investigation revealed Ouellette had a warrant for his arrest for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Tampering with Physical Evidence.  Ouellette was arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded into custody with bail set at $500.

    On 8/7/18 at approximately 2237 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an ATV being stolen from the Jim Creek camping area within the preceding 2 days.  A black and silver 2004 Polaris Sportsman 700 four wheeler was stolen from a camp site.  Anyone with information is encouraged to contact AST at 745-2131.

    On 08/06/2018 at approximately 1936 hours, a family member contacted Alaska State Troopers advising their son, Jaime Wegener, age 40 of Anchorage was lost on Baldy Mountain, Eagle River.  Wegener was able to contact AST and advised weather had turned and he was lost in dense fog. Wegener was without food, water, or survival gear and was in need of assistance.  Alaska Mountain Rescue Group (AMRG) and Alaska Search & Rescue Dogs (ASARD) were contacted and put a team together which located Wegener who was in good health and assisted him back to the trailhead. 

    AST urges those who explore the back country to carry survival gear, food & water, and check the weather conditions to be prepared.  AST would also like to thank AMRG and ASARD for their immediate response and locating of Mr. Wegener

    On 8-7-18 at approximately 1655 hours, Dillingham based Alaska State Troopers responded to Aleknagik for a reported in progress fight.  An investigation disclosed Robin Chythlook, age 25 of Aleknagik, assaulted a family member causing injury.  Further investigation disclosed during the incident Chythlook damaged property valued at under $250.  Chythlook was arrested and transported to the Dillingham Correctional Center and remanded without bail pending arraignment.  Alcohol is a factor in this incident.

    On 8-7-18, at 1052 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report of a medical emergency from a rafting party on the Sheenjek River.  With assistance from the Rescue Coordination Center a helicopter from Fort Wainwright was dispatched to the location and transported the 66 year old female to Fairbanks for medical treatment.

    On 8/8/18 at approximately 1100 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of two overturned boats in the Tanana River near Delta. The Alaska State Troopers responded to the boat launch near the Richardson Highway and were informed that two canoes had overturned; however, all boaters were accounted for. The group was floating the Clearwater River to the Tanana. Two canoes had overturned with a total of four juveniles on board. All four juveniles self-rescued to a sandbar. Other members of the party stopped on the river to assist the juveniles. A good samaritan was able to take the group the rest of the way to the boat launch. AST was able to assist in providing a warm vehicle for the four cold/wet juveniles until other arrangements were made for the group. No injuries were reported and all boats were recovered from the river.

    On 8/8/18 at approximately 0945 hours, Konstantin Kostyukov, 29 years old of Delta Junction, arrived at the Alaska State Trooper Post driving a 2015 Toyota Rav. Konstantin's license was suspended for a prior DUI in 2015 and was required to have an IID device. The Toyota did not have an IID. Konstantin was issued a misdemeanor citation for driving with a suspended driver's license and driving in violation of a license restriction.

    On 8/8/18 at approximately 0306 hours, Soldotna AST arrested Desiree Guilliam, age 33 of Kenai, on two outstanding arrest warrants.  Guilliam was taken in to custody without incident and additionally charged with misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree. Guilliam was remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility and held in lieu of $10,000 bail.  One warrant was for failing to comply with conditions of probation, the second warrant was for Theft 2, Theft 4, and Fraudulent use of an access device.

    On August 7th, 2018 at approximately 2157 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence on Salamato Street, Nikiski for a report of a disturbance. Investigation revealed Robert M. Gonzalez, age 44 of Nikiski, made unwanted physical contact with a significant other. Further investigation revealed Gonzalez created a substantial inconvenience to his significant other. Gonzalez was arrested for Harassment II DV and Criminal Mischief V DV. Gonzalez was transported to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility where was remanded and held without bail.

    Corrections: The defendants were not indicted but were charged by information. Only Andrew Renner was charged with evidence tampering.

    On 8/6/2018, Andrew Renner, 41 of Palmer, and Owen Renner, 18 of Palmer, were charged by information on felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from a poaching incident on 4/14/2018. A. Renner and O. Renner shot and killed a sow black bear, along with its two cubs, in its den on Esther Island in Prince William Sound. The bears were a part of a USFS/ADF&G bear study. As a part of the study, the sow was collared and a motion activated game audio/video camera was set up at the den site. The video shows A. Renner and O. Renner skiing up to the den and then O. Renner firing two shots at the denning sow. A. Renner then kills the shrieking newborn bear cubs and discards their bodies away from the den. Two days after the animals were killed, A. Renner and O. Renner return to the kill site to pick up the shells and to dispose of the dead bear cubs. On 4/30/2018, A. Renner brought the sow black bear skin and the collar to ADF&G in Palmer and reported he killed the animal near Granite Bay in Prince William Sound on 4/14/2018. He further reported that while he realized after shooting it that the sow had teats, no cubs were present or located. The vessel, vehicle used to facilitate the hunt, and hunting rifles were seized during the investigation. Charges against the men include Unlawfully Take Female Bear with Cubs, Unlawfully Take Bear Cub x 2, Possess/Transport Illegally Taken Game x 3. A. Renner was additionally charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and Unsworn Falsification in the Second Degree.

    On 7/30/2018, misdemeanor summonses were issued for Brandon Leask, 37 of Metlakatla, for commercial fishing in Alaska waters without a valid 2018 Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission (CFEC) permit, failing to report to the Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADF&G) when entering Alaska waters in an unlicensed commercial fishing vessel, unlawful possession of fish and fishing closed waters.  Leask was contacted by AWT fishing in Alaska waters outside the Annette Island Reserve (AIR) waters during their drift gillnet fishery on 7/26/2018.  Leask received an August 13th court date in Ketchikan.

    On 8/5/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers Prince of Wales Post conducted a commercial purse seine offload of the FV Chirikof. The investigation revealed the captain and permit holder, David Demmert Jr. of Washington State, unlawfully retained king salmon. The 8/5/18 purse seine fishery closed the retention of king salmon greater than 28 inches in length by emergency order. He was issued a summons to appear in the Prince of Wales District Court.

    Type: Personal Use - Retain Undersize King Crab

    Dispatch Text:

    On 8/4/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, contacted Harold Kulm, age 55 of Juneau, at the North Douglas launch ramp after he had returned from participating in the 11A personal use Red King Crab fishery.  Investigation revealed that Kulm had retained a Red King Crab measuring under the legal size limit of 7 inches.  Kulm was issued a $210.00 citation in the District Court at Juneau for retaining an undersized King Crab.  The crab was seized and returned to the water unharmed.
