    Dispatch Text:

    On 9/4/2019 at 1336 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1997 Ford Explorer for an equipment violation near Klawock. The driver, 54 year old Loretta Mortell was found to be driving the vehicle while her license is revoked. Further investigation revealed Mortell had been previously convicted for DWLR. Mortell was issued a misdemeanor citation for DWLR and given a future court date.

    On September 3rd, 2019 at approximately 1636 hours, the Alaska State Troopers (AST) conducted a routine traffic stop on an ATV driving down the road on North Fork Road. Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Stephen Donovan, age 49 of Homer, for one count of DUI. Stephen showed a BrAC of .185, and was remanded at the Homer Jail.

    On 9/3/19 at approximately 2230 hours, Soldotna AST stopped to check on a vehicle alongside the edge of the roadway.  Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Erica Marinay, age 38 of Clam Gulch, for violating her conditions of release.  Marinay was transported and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility where she was held without bail pending arraignment.

       On 9-4-19 at 1659 hours, the Soldotna AST K-9 Team responded to K-Beach Road at the parking lot of the Food Bank for a report of a possible disturbance. A male subject was contacted and identified as David W. Pine (40) YOA of Kasilof. An APSIN check revealed Pine has an outstanding Warrant, for his arrest for 30 days to serve after failing to appear to court on the original charge of driving revoked. Pine was arrested for the outstanding warrant and was transported to Wildwood Pretrial where he was remanded.

    Update: On 9/4/2019, at bout 1415 hours, Helo 3 located the missing hikers and is transporting them back to the trail head.  The hikers are uninjured.    

    On 9/3/2019, at about 1644 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report that Dorothy Hoople, 29, and Luke George, 28, both of Anchorage, did not return from a two day hike in Hatcher Pass.  Family and Friends had launched their own search of the trails in the area prior to contacting AST.  The volunteer searchers concluded their search at dark and had not located the hikers.  

    On 9/4/2019 AST Helo 3 responded to the scene to search for the missing hikers by air.  Helo 3 searched as much of the area as weather would allow.  Ground searchers with the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group and a group of friends and family volunteer searchers hiked the path Hoople and George were known to have traveled.  A last known location was provided by a hiker who saw the couple on Sunday afternoon at about 1430 hours between Snow Bird Hut and Bomber Hut.  Weather conditions are hampering an air search at this time.  The SAR is ongoing updates to follow as they become available.

    On Sept 4, 2019 at approximately 1400 hours CSO Roehl contacted Amber Fenton at the Palmer Court house. Fenton was at the court house to remand on he outstanding warrant. Fenton was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial.

    On 9/3/19, at 2330 hours, AST responded to a reported disturbance off Horizon Drive in Wasilla.  Investigation revealed that Bradly J. Stephens, 48 yoa of Wasilla/Wisconsin, had damaged the property of a household member and recklessly caused physical injury to the household member.  Stephens was arrested for Criminal Mischief 4th and Assault 4th domestic violence and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial on no bail status pending arraignments.  Alcohol was involved.

    On 08-25-2019 at approximately 0820 hours, Aniak Troopers responded to Lower Kalskag to a report of an intoxicated male shooting a firearm inside of the house.  The caller also stated there were several individuals inside of the residence at the time of the incident.  The investigation led to the arrest of Walter Daniel Isaac (30), of Lower Kalskag, for 3 counts of Domestic Violence Assault in the 3rd degree, Assault in the 4th degree, and 4 counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons charges.  Isaac was transported and remanded at the YKCC in Bethel and held without bail.

    On September 4, 2019 at approximately 1355 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stolen minibike from the Salmon Creek Trailer Park in Seward.  The minibike is described to be spray painted with gray primer and have no cowling.  The minibike also has a cracked gas tank and leaks fuel.  If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are encouraged to contact the Alaska State Troopers at 907-262-4453.

    On September 4, 2019 at approximately 1757 hours, Alaska State Troopers observed Michael Bellini (52 YOA of Big Lake) at the Essential One gas station in Seward. AST had prior knowledge that Bellini currently had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. A records check confirmed Bellini had an active warrant for his arrest for the orignial charge of Assault and Criminal Mischief. Bellini was arrested and transported to the Seward Jail where he was remanded and held on $500 bail.

    On 9/3/19, Judith Fischer 50 YOA Kasilof, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Soldotna Post for retaining a rainbow trout on the Kasilof River,  when there is no open season for rainbows on that river.   Bail is set at $140.00 in Kenai District Court.
