    Dispatch Text:

    On 09/04/2018 at about 1859 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a Domestic Dispute on Kian Street.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a 37 year old, female, of Ketchikan kicked the door to a vehicle of a family members and caused approximately $2,000 worth of damage.  Case is being forwarded to the District Attorney's Office.

    On 09/06/2018 at approximately 1534 hours, Palmer Criminal Suppression Unit responded to Northgate Church on Seldon and Tait in Wasilla for a report of a burglary. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) unlawfully entered a connex on the property and caused damage. Investigation into this incident is ongoing. Anyone with information related to this case is urged to call Troopers at 745-2131 or Crime Stoppers 745-3333.

    On 09/06/2018 at approximately 1954 hours, Glennallen AST stopped a green Buick Regal near mile 0.5 Hector Ewan Dr. for expired tags. The driver was identified by Name and DOB as Juanita Edwards,42 yoa of Copper Center.  AST investigation revealed that Juanita was driving the vehicle while under the influence of alcoholic beverages. Further investigation revealed Juanita's drivers license is currently revoked. Juanita was placed under arrest and transported to Glennallen.  Alcohol is a factor in the case

    On 9/6/18 at approximately 1000 hours, Alaska State Troopers arrested Justin Brunsvold, age 37, of Willow for violating his conditions of release.  Investigation determined Brunsvold is charged with Murder in the First Degree and was contacting witnesses in the case he had been released from jail on, which was a violation of his release conditions.  Brunsvold was taken into custody at his residence in Willow and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial facility where he was held without bail.

    On 9/05/18, at about 1630 hours, a family member came to Palmer Post to report 21 year old Palmer resident Matthew Studinski missing. Matthew was last heard from by text on 8/15/18. Matthew drives a 1995 white Mazda MX3 bearing Alaska plate GUF794. Anyone having information of the whereabouts of Matthew please contact the Alaska State Troopers at 907-352-5401.

    On 09/03/2018, at approximately 2147 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the vicinity of Chum Street in Willow for a report of a disturbance.  Investigation revealed that Samantha Herndon, age 29 of Willow, had discharged a firearm in an occupied residence and also broke items in the residence.  Charges to be forwarded to the DA.

    On 09/05/18, at approximately 0147, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle at approximately Mile 50 of the Parks Highway.  Investigation revealed that Jamey Patterson, age 49 of Big Lake, was driving a stolen motorcycle and in possession of a controlled substance when he was arrested.  Patterson was transported to the MATSU Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded without bail on charges of Vehicle Theft 1, Theft 2, and MICS4.

    On 9/5/18 at approximately 0833 hours a concerned citizen called and reported seeing a trailer parked at a neighbors house on Porcupine Dr. in Wasilla.  The caller reported the trailer appeared to match one which had been reported stolen from Anchorage the day prior.  Troopers responded to the scene and were able to confirm the trailer was stolen from the roadway prior to approaching the residence.  While walking into the driveway Troopers also found a blue 2017 Chevy pickup truck with altered license plates parked in front of a trailer.  The pickup had been reported stolen on 8/30/18 from an Eagle River Address.  Troopers contacted 2 persons in the trailer Maxx Foltz, age 31 of Eagle River and Sadie Douglas, age 32 of Wasilla.  Foltz was arrested for an outstanding Parole warrant as well as Vehicle theft in the 1st degree, theft in the 2nd degree x 2 and felony forgery of evidence of vehicle registration.  Douglas was arrested for Theft in the 2nd degree and Criminal Mischief in the 5th degree.  Both were remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility on no bail.

    On 9-8-17, the Bethel Violent Offenders Unit began an investigation into a cyber tip reference child pornography in Bethel.  On 9-4-18, a grand jury from Anchorage indicted Derek E. Jennings 36 yoa of Bethel on four counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree, class"B' felonies, one count of Attempted Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree, a class "C" felony, and four counts of Possession of Child Pornography all "C" felonies.  On 9-6-18, Derek was arrested on a $50,000.00 arrest warrant by the Bethel Police Department.  He was booked into YKCC.

    On August 31, 2018 at approximately 1942 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a deceased male at a residence located on Nashwood Road in Seward.  The deceased male was identified as Terrance Leclair, 58 YOA of Seward.  NOK has been notified.  Anchorage Funeral Home was contacted and transported the body to the SME at their request.  Alcohol is suspected to be a factor.  Foul play is not suspected.  Investigation is ongoing.

    Dispatch Text:

    On September 3, 2018 at approximately 0757 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a vehicle crash with a power pole near the intersection of Nash Road and the Seward Highway.  Investigation revealed Amy Melnik-Bidnyy, 38 YOA of Seward, was operating a blue 2014 Ford Flex southbound on Salmon Creek Road at approximately 50 to 60 mph.  Amy failed to stop at the stop sign and crossed Nash Road.  As the vehicle crossed Nash Road, the vehicle went airborne and struck a power pole causing disabling damage to the vehicle and major damage to the power pole.  Seward Public Utilities was contacted and responded to assist with the damaged power pole and hanging lines.  Further investigation revealed Melnik-Bidnyy was impaired by alcohol. Melnik-Bidnyy was arrested for DUI and transported to the Seward Jail where she was remanded. At the jail Melnik-Bidnyy failed to supply a breath sample and was additionally charged with Refusal.

    On 9-2-18 at 1658 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of indecent exposure at Spring Creek Correctional Center (SCCC) in Seward.  It was reported that an inmate was masturbating in front of a female nurse.  One charge of indecent exposure will be sent to the Kenai District Attorney’s office for review.

    On 9-4-18 at 1011 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted a suspicious vehicle near mile 38 of the Sterling Highway in the Tern Lake pull out.  AST contacted a male in the vehicle who gave a false name.  Through investigation AST was able to identify the male as Nicholas Bernier, age 26, of Anchorage.  Bernier had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear on the original charge of 2nd DUI.  Bernier was also a convicted felon and in possession of a loaded handgun.  Bernier was arrested on the outstanding arrest warrant and additionally charged with False Information and Misconduct Involving Weapons 3. Bernier was remanded to Seward Jail with no bail.

    On 9-4-18 at 2240 hours, Soldotna dispatch received a report of a disturbance in the Seward area.  Alaska State Troopers responded and contacted Christopher Hall, age 44 of Seward and a female inside the residence.  Through investigation it was revealed that Hall committed the crime of Assault in the 4th degree DV.  Hall was arrested without incident and remanded to Seward Jail with no bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 9/5/18 at approximately 1200 hours, Alaska State Troopers received the report of a stolen vehicle headed south on the Seward Highway from Girdwood. The vehicle had been reported stolen to APD on 9/3/18. The vehicle was located and stopped near mile 56.0 of the Seward Highway. The driver, Ronald Rogers, age 34 of Anchorage, was arrested for Vehicle Theft 1 and remanded to the Seward City Jail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 9/6/18 at approximately 1510 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the Lower Russian Lakes trail in Cooper Landing for the report of a woman impaled by an arrow. The woman was approximately 4 to 6 miles from the trailhead. AST provided immediate medical attention while medics responded to the scene. Volunteers from Moose Pass Fire and Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. Ultimately the 210th and 212th Rescue Squadrons from Rescue Coordination Center responded.  The woman was hoisted aboard a National Guard helicopter and transported to Providence Alaska Medical Center for treatment of her non-life threatening injury. The woman was identified as Janis Bronson, age 59 of Anchorage. Bronson was impaled by an arrow that had been left on the trail.

    On 9-2-18, Wayne Easterly, age 39 of Wrangell was cited by Alaska Wildlife Troopers for failing to validate deer harvest ticket.  Bail was set at $160.

    On 9-4-18, Timothy Blanchard, age 42, of Richmond Utah was cited by Alaska Wildlife Troopers for retaining a fin fish with an annual limit and not immediately logging the catch as required.  Blanchard retained a yellow eye rock fish which has an annual limit for non-residents of one fish. Bail is set at $110.

    On 7/12/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, received a report from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game that they had been contacted about a bear that had been found dead and caught in a snare on Douglas Island near Mount Ben Stewart.  Investigation revealed that the snares had been set by Mark Mitchell, age 39 of Juneau, who was targeting wolves.  The snares had been left out in an active condition past the closure of wolf trapping season in GMU 1C on 4/30/18.  Mitchell had previously been cited for a related incident where he had left snares in the field near Ready Boullion Creek on Douglas Island resulting in a bear cub being snared.  That case is still pending in the Juneau District Court.

    On 9/6/18 Mitchell was served with a misdemeanor summons charging him with an additional count of attempting to trap wolves during a closed season.  Arraignment for the new charge was set on 9/27/18 at 11:00AM in the District Court at Juneau.

    It is believed that there are still additional snares in the field on Douglas Island or in the area of Thane.  Anyone who locates any snares are encouraged to contact the Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Juneau 907-225-5118.
