A Detachment

  • AK19061975

    Location: N. Miller Loop @ K-Spur Hwy, Nikiski
    Type: DWLR

    Dispatch Text:

     On 9-8-19 at 2250 hours, the Soldotna AST K-9 Team conducted a traffic stop on the Kenai Spur Highway at N. Miller Loop Road after observing a green 1997 Ford Escort traveling above the posted speed limit. The vehicle also displayed expired registration.  The driver was contacted and identified as Jyles S. Meader, 25 YOA of Nikiski and the passenger was identified as Jennifer L. Mead, 32 YOA of Kasilof. An APSIN check revealed Meader’s Operators License is Revoked for the original charge of vehicle theft. Meader is on Probation and is subject to search conditions. An APSIN check also revealed that Mead is on P.E.D. and is subject to search conditions. A drug sniff of the vehicle was conducted with K-9 Donna resulting in several items of Methamphetamine and Heroin drug paraphernalia that was located in the vehicle. Probations was contacted and Meader was arrested and transported to Wildwood Pretrial where he was remanded on charges of DWLR.

    Type: Vehicle Theft 1st/Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 5th

    On 9/6/19 The Soldotna Police Department received a report of a stolen Nissan Pathfinder SUV from the River Terrace RV park in Soldotna. On 9/8/19 Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle parked down a trail off Yukon Rd. in Kasilof. Investigation revealed Tyler Douglas Barrickman, age 25 of Soldotna, was inside the vehicle with a female and he was in possession of a small amount of controlled substance. Barrickman was arrested and later remanded without bail at Wildwood pretrial on charges of Vehicle Theft 1st degree and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 5th degree.

    On 09/07/2019 at approximately 0348 hours, AST responded to a disturbance. AST arrived on scene and contacted the Matthew Leadens (age 40 of Soldotna). Leadens was found to have driven an excavator into his house which his family was in. Leadens was intoxicated. Leadens was arrested, transported, and ultimately remanded to Wildwood Pretrial for one count DV Assault 3, one count Assault 3 non-DV, DUI, and DV Criminal Mischief 3.

    Type: MVC-D, Reckless Driving, Leave Scene of Accident

    Dispatch Text:

    On 9/8/19, at 1248 hours, AST received a report of a hit and run accident between a Jeep SUV and a tricycle style motorcycle, on Bogard Road.  Investigation revealed that the motorcycle attempted to pass the Jeep using a turn only lane while both were traveling west on Bogard Road near Palmer High School.  The motorcycle sideswiped the Jeep causing minor damage and then continued on Bogard Road.  The motorcycle was located at a residence off Lagoon Street and the rider has been identified but was not able to be contacted.  Charges of reckless driving and leaving the scene of a damage only accident will be forwarded to the Palmer DA's Office.

    On 9/8/19, at 1812 hours, AST responded to Mat-Su Regional Hospital for a reported male gunshot victim.  The male victim received at least one gunshot wound to his leg but was not cooperative in providing details as to the location the shooting occurred nor any other person's involved, including who dropped him off at the hospital.  Investigation by AST continues.  The victim did not suffer life threatening wounds.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 9/8/19, at 1919 hours, AST responded to a report of a male chasing a female down the side of the onramp near the Parks Highway and Trunk Road.  Investigation revealed that Nicholas Ryan Lorimer, 40 yoa (transient) assaulted a former girlfriend when he placed her in fear of imminent physical injuries while trying to prevent her from leaving.  Lorimer was arrested for Assault in the Fourth Degree DV and remanded to Mat-Su pretrial on no bail status pending arraignment.

    Location: Toksook Bay
    Type: Assault 2, Assault 4

    Dispatch Text:

    On 9/8/2019 at about 0330 hours, Alaska State Troopers (AST) in Bethel received a report of assault from Toksook Bay. Tribal police reported twenty-one year-old Nathaniel Simon assaulted another man. AST responded to Toksook Bay to investigate. Investigation revealed Nathaniel recklessly caused serious physical injury to the other man. AST arrested Nathaniel and remanded him to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center on charges of Assault in the Second Degree and Assault in the Fourth Degree. Alcohol was a factor in this case.

    On 9/7/2019 at approximately 2022 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an aircraft crash on Nunivak Island.  An SOS beacon was activated through an In-reach GPS and investigation revealed that an aircraft with two soles on board had crashed shortly after takeoff.  No injuries were reported and both individuals advised they had survival gear to make it through the night, till aircraft assets could respond and provided transportation back to Bethel.  At this time a local aircraft charter has been tasked to responded and provided transportation for the two individuals.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 9/7/2019 at approximately 1650 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a boat that had engine failure and was floating down the Kuskokwim River, north of Tuluksak with four soles on board.  Investigation revealed that the boat passengers and driver were able to beach the boat and get to safety.  The driver reported to have plenty of camping and survival gear and was advised to remain at their location until help could respond.  At approximately 1830 hours, Kalskag SAR responded and located the individuals and provided safe passage back to Kalskag.  One sole remained with the boat with survival gear, food and water for the night.  All individuals were ultimately provided transportation back to Kalskag.

    On 9-7-19 at approximately 0642, AST Dispatch received a report of a vehicle in the ditch near Davis Road in Fairbanks.  Troopers responded and contacted the occupant, Cody Agli, 25 of Fairbanks.  Cody was found to be in possession of methamphetamines.  Cody was arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 5 and remanded to FCC where he was released on his own recognizance.

    Dispatch Text:

    On September 7, 2019 at approximately 1930 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance at a residence in North Pole. AST responded and contacted Dereck Peter and one of his family member's. Through investigation it was revealed Peter had assaulted his family member and destroyed their property. Peter was arrested for Domestic Violence Assault in the Fourth Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Fifth Degree. Peter was remanded to FCC for the above charges, where he was held without bail.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 9/8/19, at approximately 1743 hours, Fairbanks AST conducted a traffic stop on a red Jeep for an equipment violation and multiple vehicles stopped on the Richardson Highway. Investigation revealed that the driver, Michael Leach, age 58 of Fairbanks, was driving the Jeep with another vehicles registration tabs. Leach was issued a misdemeanor citation to appear in court at a later date. Investigation revealed the driver of the second vehicle, Raymond Spencer, age 60 of Fairbanks, was driving with a revoked license with multiple prior convictions. Raymond was placed under arrest and remanded to FCC on the charge of Driving While License Revoked.

    On 9/7/19, at approximately 1859 hours, Fairbanks AST received a report of a burglary shortly after the fact on Hurst Road in North Pole. Preliminary investigation revealed that multiple people entered the house, caused an extensive amount of damage and vandalism, before leaving in a silver Chevrolet Blazer. The investigation is on-going. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Alaska State Troopers at 907-451-5100 and reference the above incident.

    On 9/6/2019, Michael Fenton 60 YOA of Sterling, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Soldotna Post for taking a sub-legal moose during the hunting season in GMU 15A. Arraignment is set in Kenai District Court on 10/17/2019 at 1330 hours.

    On 8/31/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, contacted Samuel Kerley, age 62 of Black Diamond, WA, while he was sport fishing in Yakutat Bay. Investigation revealed Kerley had retained a King Salmon under the legal size limit of 28 inches.  Kerley was issued a $270.00 citation for retaining an undersize King Salmon.  The illegal fish was seized.  The citation was issued in the Yakutat District Court.

    On 9/1/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, contacted Timothy Wilson, age 58 of Cartersville, GA, while he was sport fishing on the Situk River.  Investigation revealed Wilson was not in possession of his sport fishing license as required.  Wilson was issued a $220.00 correctable citation in the Yakutat District Court for the violation.

    On 9/1/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, contacted James Payne, age 48 of Ukiah, CA, while he was sport fishing on the Situk River.  Investigation revealed Payne was fishing an area of the river that was restricted to anglers 60 years of age or older and was not in possession of his sport fish license as required.  Payne was issued a $120.00 citation for sport fishing closed waters and a $220.00 correctable citation for failing to possess his sport fish license.  Both citations were issued in the Yakutat District Court.

    On 9/3/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, contacted James Cooley, age 68 of Green Valley, AZ, while he was sport fishing in the Situk River.  Investigation revealed Cooley was using felt soled wader boots when prohibited.  Cooley was issued a $120.00 citation for the violation.  The citation was issued in the Yakutat District Court.

    On 9/3/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, contacted Kenneth Melton, age 32 of Yakutat, while he was sport fishing from the Ankau bridge.  Investigation revealed Melton was not in possession of his sport fish license as required.  Melton was issued a $220.00 correctable citation for the violation.  The citation was issued in the Yakutat District Court.

    On 9/8/19 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post were contacted after Matthew Magie, age 47, of Sitka delivered three commercial troll caught king salmon to a local processor.  Investigation revealed Magie had inadvertently taken three king salmon when the limit for the September 1-10 commercial king salmon retention period is two king salmon.  Magie was cited, with an arraignment set in the District Court at Sitka.

    On 9/8/19, David Dickerson, 67 YOA, of Wasilla, AK, was issued a summons for taking a sub legal moose in Unit 16A.  Dickerson was given an arraignment date of 10/2/19 at 0830 hours in Palmer District Court.  The antlers were seized as evidence and the meat was given to charity.

    On 9/8/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, contacted Jack Tullis, age 58 of Juneau, after observing him attempting to snag Coho Salmon with the use of snagging hook in the freshwaters of Peterson Creek.  Tullis was issued a $120.00 citation for attempting to snag salmon in freshwaters.  The citation was issued in the Juneau District Court.

    Type: Nonresident Fail To Log Finfish, Use Sport-Caught Fish As Bait

    Dispatch Text:

    On 8/29/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, contacted Terry White, age 59 of Juneau, and Gregory Mellon, age 71 of Bayside, CA, sport fishing for Halibut near Sisters Island.  Investigation revealed Mellon had caught and retained a Yelloweye Rockfish and had not logged the retention as required.  Further investigation revealed White was using the edible meat of a sport-caught Coho as bait.  Mellon was issued a $120.00 citation in the Juneau District Court for failure to log.  White was issued a strict liability citation for using sport-caught fish as bait.  White has a mandatory court appearance in the Juneau District Court.
