AK17064027Location: Big LakeType: Warrant Arrest
On 9/9/17 at approximately 0116 hours, Alaska State Troopers stopped a silver Mazda SUV near the intersection of Big Lake Rd and Shotgun for an equipment violation. Investigation revealed a passenger in the vehicle, Mandy Edelen age 37 of Big Lake, had a warrant for her arrest for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Theft 3. Edelen was arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was remanded into custody with bail set at $250.

AK17063970Location: WasillaType: Warrant Arrest
On 9/8/17 at approximately 1910 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 green Pontiac for being stolen. Investigation revealed the driver, Benjamin Nelson, age 36, of Wasilla had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest. Nelson was arrested, transported and remanded to MSPT where his bail was set at $500. Investigation continues for the stolen vehicle.

On 9/9/2017 at approximately 0035 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a disturbance at a residence on S. Granite Lane. Investigation revealed Charles M. Stokes, age 33, of Wasilla assaulted a family member. Stokes was arrested for Assault 4th degree domestic violence. Stokes was subsequently remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial with no bail.

AK17064195Location: WasillaType: Warrant Arrest
On 9/9/17 at approximately 1953 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a welfare check at a residence on N Trace Anderson Cir in Wasilla. During the investigation, Troopers contacted Antonia Commack age 28 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Commack had a warrant for her arrest for Failure to Appear on a status hearing. Commack was arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was remanded with bail set at $500.

On 9-8-17 around 1810 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of damaged property at the Aniak High School. Investigation revealed one of the school windows’ were cracked and profanities were written in feces on the window. Investigation continues.

AK17063993Location: KoliganikType: Assault IV DV
On 09-09-17 at 1110 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the village of Koliganik for the report of an Assault.
Investigation revealed William Chandler Huckins Jr age 40 of Koliganik while intoxicated, physically assaulted a member of his household causing injuries requiring medical attention. A female neighbor responding to the victim's aid intervened causing injuries to Huckins Jr. Huckins Jr. was arrested in Koliganik for Assault IV involving Domestic Violence and was transported to the King Salmon jail where he was remanded into custody with no bail pending arraignment. In addition to the assault Huckin's Jr. was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant issued for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the original charge of Unauthorized Use of an Access Device with bail set at $1000.00

On 9/9 /2017 at approximately 0005 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance on Yak Road in Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Kristoffer Vanflien, age 23 of Fairbanks, assaulted a family member and damage property of a family member. Vanflien was arrested for Assault IV and Criminal Mischief IV and transported to Fairbanks Correctional Center for remand where he was held without bail.

AK17063818Location: SOLDOTNAType: ASSAULT 3
On 09-08-2017 at approximately 1028 hours, Soldotna AST dispatch received a report of a disturbance in progress at 35799 Marshall Street, where the complainant stated a vehicle stuck one of the individuals and the a physical confrontation was in progress. The investigation, led to the arrest of Heidi Haberman (61) of Soldotna for two counts of Fear Assault in the Third degree. No injuries were reported by the victims. Haberman was arrested and transported to Wildwood Pretrial and held without bail. Subsequent investigation also led to two counts of Fear Assault in the Third degree being forwarded on Joshua McDonnell (34) of Soldotna to the Kenai District Attorneys Office. Joshua McDonnell was released on scene.

AK17040608Location: Gambier Bay - Admiralty IslandType: Interfere With Commercial Fishing Gear x 4, Operate Over Vessel Limit Of Commercial Dungeness Pots x 3, Unlawful Use Of Pot Tags
UPDATE: On 10/10/17, co-defendant Donald R. Peeler, pled no contest in the Petersburg district court to one count of operating an over limit of commercial Dungeness crab gear. He was fined $1500 and ordered to forfeit $812.20 worth of illegally taken crab. The case involving the final defendant is scheduled for trial.
UPDATE: On 10/3/17/ co-defendant Colin Kuamoo, pled no contest in the Petersburg district court to one count of operating an over limit of commercial Dungeness crab gear. He was fined $1500 and ordered to forfeit $812.20 worth of illegally taken crab. Cases for the two remaining defendants are currently working through the court system.
On 6/17/17, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, onboard the P/V Sentry began an investigation into illegal commercial Dungeness crabbing activities by the F/V Kathy K (ADFG #40107). Investigation revealed that the vessel owner, and 1 of 3 permit-holders onboard, James "Andy" Knight, age 54 of Petersburg, had removed a total of 14 pot identification tags from 4 other commercial Dungeness fishing vessel's pots and then disposed of the pots. Knight then placed the stolen pot tags on pots of his own in an attempt to conceal that he was fishing an over-limit of pots. Knight was also found to be actively fishing a pot tag that he had previously reported as lost and that had been voided by ADF&G.
The other permit-holders onboard were identified as Donald Peeler, age 54 of Petersburg, and Colin Kuamoo, age 37 of Hilo, HI. Further investigation revealed that between all 3 men's permits they could legally fish a total of 300 pots. Alaska regulations sets a maximum pot limit of 300 pots per vessel in registration area A. Investigation revealed that all 3 men were actively fishing a total of over 300 pots between the 3 of them.
Knight was issued criminal summonses for the following offenses:
- 4 x Interfering With Commercial Fishing Gear
- 1 x Unlawful Use Of Pot Tags
- 1 x Fish Over Vessel Limit Of Commercial Dungeness Pots
Kuamoo and Peeler were both issued minor offense citations for fishing an over vessel limit of commercial Dungeness pots. All 3 men have mandatory court appearances in the District Court at Petersburg.
14 Pots and 1,749lbs of Dungeness crab valued at $4,609.70 were seized.

AK17062752Location: JuneauType: False Statement On License Application
On 9/4/17, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, issued Michael Henderson, age 52 of Juneau, a $310.00 citation in the District Court at Juneau for making a false statement on his 2017 resident sport fish license application. Investigation revealed that Henderson was claiming to be an Alaska resident for the purposes of obtaining a resident sport fish license when he was not yet qualified.

AK17063987Location: Juneau - DIPACType: Snag Where Prohibited
On 9/8/17, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, contacted Qun Li, age 47 of Juneau, after he was observed snagging Coho salmon within 150' of the Wayside Dock when prohibited. Li was issued a $130.00 citation for snagging where prohibited. The citation was issued in the District Court at Juneau.

AK17063832Location: CantwellType: Sublegal moose
On 09/08/17 at 1500 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Cantwell post, issued a citation to Claude Anthony Bondy, 50 yoa of Cantwell, on the Denali Highway in GMU13 for taking a moose with a sub-legal antler configuration. A legal moose in GMU13 has to have antlers 50" or greater in width, or 4 or more brow tines on one antler, or a spike-fork antler configuration. Arraignment is scheduled in the Nenana District Court on 09/18/17 at 1330 hours.

On 09/08/17 at 1530 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Cantwell Post, issued a citation to Russell Jay Morrison, 62 yoa of Soldotna, at mile 112 of the Denali Highway for failing to have a valid proxy hunting authorization form in possession while proxy hunting as required. Arraignment is scheduled in the Nenana District court on September 18, 2017 at 1330 hours.

AK17064132Location: GirdwoodType: Motor Vehicle Collision - Fatal
Update: The name of the female killed in this accident is Emily Tredway age 16 of Anchorage. Next of kin has been notified.
On 9/9/17 at approximately 1456 hours, AST received a report of a single motor vehicle collision near Mile 91.5 Seward Hwy. Investigation revealed a 16 year old female was driving a 2013 Honda motorcycle traveling southbound on the Seward Hwy when she lost control and struck the guardrail. She was transported to the hospital in Anchorage where she was pronounced dead. Anchorage Police Department responded to the scene to assist with the scene. Traffic is being routed through one lane currently as the scene investigation continues.
