On 4/13/2019 at 2049 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the area of Glacier Creek Road for a report of a vehicle eluding Nome Police Department officers. A female in the vehicle was reporting on 911 that she had been assaulted by the male driver, and he was refusing to allow her to exit the vehicle. Prior to AST arrival on scene, the vehicle became stuck in snow and the male driver fled on foot. He was identified as Daniel Ahmasuk, 36 YOA of Nome. Troopers later responded with snow machines and located Daniel in his vehicle. He was arrested and charged with Assault 3rd, Kidnapping, Fail to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer, Reckless Driving, and two counts of Reckless Endangerment. Daniel was transported to AMCC where he was held without bail until arraignments. Alaska State Troopers would like to thank the Nome Police Department for their assistance with this investigation.
