Type: Use Sport-Caught Fish as Bait, No Biodegradable Escape Mechanism

On 6/2/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Juneau Post, inspected personal use crab pots belonging to Felipe Ogoy, age 51 of Juneau, in Echo Cove.  Inspection of the pots revealed that Ogoy was using sport-caught halibut as bait.  Further investigation revealed that Ogoy was operating a pot that lacked a biodegradable escape mechanism as required.  On 6/5/19 Ogoy was contacted an issued a strict liability citation for using sport-caught fish as bait.  Ogoy was also issued a $120.00 citation for no biodegradable escape mechanism.  Ogoy has a mandatory court appearance in the Juneau District Court.
